I have panic attacks and generalized anxiety. I did take Lexapro for 9 months, which helped a great deal. I also see a psychiatrist specializing in panic and anxiety. I weaned off the Lex last month as it was (get this!) causing me to gain a ton of weight that I couldn't shed. I now have Xanax and Klonopin, which I take on an as needed basis. Therapy/ CBT is supposed to be great alone as a natural remedy. I know that in my case, I do need meds for unexpected flare ups.
I have panic attacks. Certain situations, like airplanes, bring them on, but sometimes they just come out of nowhere. I take a very low dose of xanax when I feel one coming on, or if I have to fly, and it helps me a lot.
I have a diagnosis of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder which is an anxiety related disorder. I was diagnosed many years ago. I see my therapist each two weeks and had some of the rapid eye movement therapy a couple of years ago. I now take the lowest dose of Zoloft just to take the edge off. I hope that you have great success in finding ways to deal with your anxiety and depression. Sparks is great for helping turn negative thoughts into positive actions.

I was diagnosed also, right after being medically diagnosed with bulimia. I hate taking any kind of medication, so what I'm doing is going to therapy every week. My therapist is teaching me Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which helps me alter my negative thinking to positive thinking. My general doctor also prescribed me the lowest dose of Xanax when I feel like deep breathing to control the attacks doesn't work. I take it on an as needed basis and it helps right away.
I was diagnosed with anxiety disorder after my mom passed away last july and my sister a few months before that, also with depression. All is working out as I am taking medication, just taking one day at a time, and trying to deal with a few issues. God help us all!
