Wow...those groups sound great! I wish I had time for something like that. I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how to squeeze 2 hours/week into my schedule for a therapy appt.

My boyfriend takes Zoloft and it may be helping a bit, but it's hard to tell because he still worries about having a tumor etc. or something like that. Especially when he watches those "Mystery Diagnosis" shows, probably not good for him, but he likes them.

He's in a group right now at the hospital where you go once a week and learn about cognitive therapy, relaxation, etc. He has asked his GP for a referral for a psychiatrist as well so he can get one on one treatment by someone who knows more than a GP would. He may also join another group therapy (less like a class, more psychodynamic) after he's done with the program he's doing now.

I'm in a year long psychodynamic group, we meet once a week and talk about our issues. Everyone has individual differences, but we all understand each other and can relate in many ways. It's a great group through the hospital (no cost) here (in BC).

Thanks for the warm welcome Canucker!

Yeah, that's pretty much what I do. It's definitely a chronic disease type thing for me...pretty much anything w/a bad prognosis. Has your boyfriend seen a therapist for it? Does he take any type of meds?

I'm definitely going to get my butt back to my therapist. I want my life back...that's for sure.

Losing weight is a good start for sure, especially if it's a "health" anxiety. My boyfriend kind of has that as well, more to do with chronic diseases etc. and was diagnosed with OCD related to his health, even though I think it's more of an anxiety related thing. It would be a good thing to meet with your therapist and try to be properly diagnosed. It sure helped me to understand what my triggers are, some I knew, some I didn't.

Welcome to our team! emoticon

Hi there...

I decided to look up a team that has others that have to deal with anxiety and I found you guys!

I'm 25. I was diagnosed w/anxiety about 3 years ago. Looking back now, I suspect I've had it for about 10 years. My anxiety used to be triggered by certain things but now has kind of turned more into "Health Anxiety" or what most people would call Hypochondria. :( This hasn't been confirmed by a doctor, as I haven't been to my therapist in about 18 months but plan on making an appt in the very near future.

My anxiety has really been getting the best of me the last month or so and I just really want to get over this and get on with my life.

The good side though...it's helping w/losing weight! LOL
