Sincer we moved I have not seen a doctor about my knee. The honest truth is I'm terrified to hear what could be wrong. I have thought about going to see a specialist before I start training so I don't get injured and make sure I'm in the clear to train. I also wanted to get a full physical done to see how my health is professing too. Just taking on run at a time at this point. Thank you for the advise I so appreciate it.

Chantelle - so good to have you join us and yowzers...do be careful with that knee... are you currently under the care of a doctor or practitioner who can keep tabs on your situation. You are concerned for good reason. that was a major issue you experienced and there are risks. Having been injured so close to your big race was a really tough blow but you have done so well in pulling through it and forging ahead..

Hi my name is Chantelle, I will be starting my half marathon training this coming fall and will be completing my first half marathon next February or March of 2014. I trained for my first half a few years ago, got 15 weeks into my training and injured my knee one week before my race. After seeing a knee specialist and getting an MRI done I had torn something in my right knee and was not able to race, I was complete devastated. After all this hard work and training I was not able to complete the race, the positive outcome was I had lost a bunch of weight and was the thinnest I had been in years. After having my second child I decided I need to get serious and wanted to start back on the weight loss path again so I starting running. I'm currently doing a 10K Heart Rating training plan as we speak and coming up to my last run on Sunday, but once again my knee has started bothering me and ever since I injured it I can't seem to get over that fear that I will hurt it again. Now that I live in a state with all hills I can't seem to find any flat ground which makes training much harder. For the next few months I'm going to work on strengthening my knee and losing more weight before diving back into my next half marathon training plan. Hoping for the best and continue to have a positive mind.
