I want to echo what Karen said, the treadmill is bearable for me when I use it for a purpose other than plodding along. I do my hill work, speed work, work on form, etc., when I run on it.

Ugh, I should be training for a marathon in May but waiting until it's nicer outside. The good news is spring is right around the corner and since you're already comfortable with the 10K distance, you should have not problem advancing to the half marathon distance by fall!

Does your treadmill face a t.v. or can you position a laptop? I have streamed entire seasons of t.v. shows during runs on treadmills and I also download audio books - Winter isn't over here yet either but I feel your pain!

For me the key to tolerating the dreadmill is to use it for my speedwork or something where I have goals and am varying tempo and distances
It drives me crazy to just get on it and run for a certain number of miles.

Have you tried any 10M races? It's a nice distance that fills the sizeable gap from 10K to HM. We recently created a Spark team for it!

Right there with you! :) I'm training for my 4th half (May) and am SO sick of the treadmill. But it's snowing yet again today!

Just remember that keeping up with those runs will make running outside more fun once you get there! :)

i am a heavy runner, who is trying to make the jump from 10K to a half marathon by fall 2013. i am currently in a hate-hate relationship with my treadmill, since i'm from ontario and running outside is not an option until the 6 foot snowbanks melt away
