I ran my first half last October and trained through the summer. It was brutal. Spring is a much better choice in terms of the months you're actually putting up the higher miles. Congrats on signing up and have the time of your life!
Good luck, it sounds like you've allowed yourself a good amount of time to prepare. I've done two HMs so far, and it's a great distance!

I just started training today! I laid out a plan to get myself back in the running game, as it has been a while since I have done anything consistent. I picked this one because it is in the spring, when it is still cool, and I don't do well in the heat!
