I hope you're feeling better! I did the 8 miler, and didn't do that great, either. Actually, I don't think I ever saw any results posted, but I know we were towards the end. And I wasn't even horribly slow! I think I averaged about a 12:15min pace...dealing with plantar fasciitis now.

I might be doing to Pumpkin Run. I'll have to check into the Gobbler Hobbler!

Sorry Carolyn...my computer has been having issues so I couldn't receive or respond to posts. I did the 5K, but coming off the flu, did not do very well. Still have two more races this year. Both are 10K's. The Sycamore Pumpkin Fest Run a week from this Sunday and two weeks after that on the 10th of Nov, I'm doing the Gobbler Hobbler in Oswego. If you are doing either one, I'd love to meet you!

I'm doing the Dick Pond race tomorrow, too! Are you doing the 5K or the 8 miler?

Welcome Carolyn! I'm just down the road from you and actually ran my first 5K 2 1/2 years ago up in St Charles. The river path there down to Batavia was my favorite training ground for my halfs last year. Most of my events have been 5 & 10K's, but I plan to do a couple halfs again next year. Doing the Dick Ponds's Hot Chocolate tomorrow, then in two weeks, the pumpkin 10K in Sycamore and the Gobbler Hobbler 10K two weeks after that in Oswego. Hope to "run" into you one of these days!

Carolyn, I ran the Peapod Half Madness in August in Batavia, just down the road from you. That is a good HM. And, yes, the Schaumburg Turkey Trot is a good HM also.

I'm running a 5K in Itasca tomorrow. Hope it doesn't rain.

Diana, I saw the F3 Half, and may do that one instead of the Polar Dash, since we may already be down there that weekend.

Onmymeds, I'm thinking about that HM! I heard it was a really good one.

Welcome to the team, MOMMYDEAREST3.

Chicago sure is a great running town. I'm doing the Schaumburg Half Marathon Turkey Trot on 11/24. And Dick Pond in Schaumburg is my fav running store.

Hi Diana! Chicago is such a great running city, isn't it??? Which HM are you doing? There are some winter ones in Chicago in January...the Polar Dash is one of them.

Welcome to the team! I'm Diana and I'm from downtown Chicago! I've been running for a little while now; I'll be doing my first HM on the 21st! I'm super excited for it :-) I'm planning on the Chicago Marathon next year also!

Congrats on reaching your goals! Keep up the awesome work!

Hi all! My name is Carolyn Minear, and I'm so glad I found this team! I'm from the suburbs of Chicago.

I started running on 1/15/11, 5 days after I joined Weight Watchers. I had decided enough was enough with my weight and lack of exercise. In November 2010 I volunteered at a race my youngest son (at the time he was 7) was running. He did the youth mile, and I was helping out at a water stop for the 4 mile race. I saw all kinds of people running/walking the race, and I figured if they could do it, then so could I. It still took me about 6 more weeks to finally commit to it, but now I'm so glad I did!

I've lost 62 lbs and met my goal weight - and I've stayed under it for a year now! - thanks to WW and running. After I did my first race, the Shamrock Shuffle 8K in Chicago in April 2011, I was bitten by the running and racing bug. I've completed several 5Ks, a couple 8K and 10K races, and two Half Marathons. My first one was kind of brutal...hot, sunny and very little shade, but the second one was incredible! I'm planning to do another one the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and then another one in January. My goal next year is to run the Chicago Marathon.

If someone told me two years ago that I'd plan to run a marathon, I would have laughed at them. Now I can't wait!
