I enjoy Hal Higdon's training plans. I'm following his for running a half marathon. Have had quite a struggle in trying to get my endurance up so I'll be walking my fair share of it. Goal is to finish. I think (since it seems you enjoy walking so much) that you may do that half marathon sooner than you think.

I walked my first half marathon this year, April 30th, I think it was. Do make sure you have an event with a longer cut off time. Mine did. I walked my half marathon in 3 hours and 13 minutes. Faster than my training going that distance. The training link Nancy posted, seemed quite similar to what I did. Bet you can walk a half marathon soon. :) You can do it.

Awesome goal! I've walked 4 hm over the past 3 years. I like to run but my training keeps getting interrupted by one problem or another. I've used a run/walk (1 min run/1 min walk) to do some 5 k's. Good luck and have a great time with your training. Walking is just a big accomplishment as running is! 13.1 miles is an awesome accomplishment either way!
Congrats on making the plunge into HM training. I have walked several HMs and, as long as you select a race w/an appropriate cut-off time, it is a great experience. A lot of people poo pooh walking, but in some ways it is more difficult than running, because you are out there a longer time. Either way you are covering the same distance, so be proud.

Hi all! I am Merle and I just decided yesterday that I'd like to walk a HM. Running just isn't quite for me and I've walked several 5k's, which are nice; but thinking I may be up for the bigger challenge. My initial target is the Flying Pig 2013; but might look for something sooner if I get going on training.
I've done nothing yet other than making this decision to try, so I would love any advice or pointers anyone can share. I'm looking for a good training schedule now.
