Hi, I'm Faith, I live in NYC with my husband and dog. We're both teachers (me and the hubs, not the dog) so I have some time off this summer to work on my weight and health goals. After nine wonderful years of marriage, we are finally ready to start a family, and weight loss is a big part of my family planning. I've yo yo dieted a lot, lost sixty pounds twice in my life and subsequently gained it back, and am afraid I wrecked my metabolism with a 500 calorie a day diet a while back, but I am brand new to sp and ready to start again!
Hi Amber! Welcome to the group! I know how frustrating PCOS is. I have been able to have 4 kids, 3 of them took a long time to get pregnant with, and 1 was a surprise. Each one is a complete blessing. Here is what I did to help with being able to get pregnant: first kid was our surprise. Kid number 2 I ate only whole grains, lean proteins, lots of veggies and fruit, and absolutely no refined grains or sugar. I was pregnant after only a month of eating like this. We had been trying for her for 3 years. Kid number 3, I finally had a diagnosis of PCOS and was put on metformin ( glucophage is the generic). I ate the same as before and was able to get pregnant in 3 months while taking the metformin. We had been trying for a year and a half. Kid number four, I decided to just eat well, and not use metformin, as the medication made me feel quite ill. I also found a book called "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" which was recommended to me by a midwife. I charted my temps and we were able to conceive after a year of trying. I hope this helps you, and that you have success in conceiving.

My name is Amber and I live in Minneapolis, MN. Really happy to find this group. I just started my weight loss process and at the same time started seeing the doctor after 8 months of trying to get pregnant with no luck.
Today is a crappy day, well not that crappy but I have been officially diagnoses with PCOS. Did my ultra sound this morning and I am a classic case I guess.
Bright side, now I know! I can focus on the good. Some goals for me diet wise it get more protein, and keep working out.
