I do recommend Weight Watchers. Try classes near your home or work and find a leader that is really helpful. Not everyone is the same (just like in Zumba) every teacher/leader is a little different and has something unique to offer. We do have to make the right food choices or at least the right quantity of food choices in order to get smaller and healthier.

WW gave me the tools and Zumba gave me the motivation and confidence to keep going. I'm happy with who I am now.

Thanks for the encouragement. I was thinking of doing WW to help me even more with watching what I eat. Do you have any suggestions?

Stay calm and Zumba

Hi Melrose, Zumba certainly helps me. I started it in Sept. '09 and got certified in jan. '10. I've been teaching since then and I just love teaching it. You will definitely sweat of pounds IF you dance full out. When the teacher says you can step it up by jumping, do it. Use your arms a lot, it raises your heart rate. But, if it's hurts, don't do it. Keep your knees over your ankles, never the toes. Once you et the footwork, you can move everything else too. Have fun and don't worry about what anyone sees. Of course, Weight Watchers also helps me. I track EVERYTHING I eat and keep meticulous numbers each week about points and exercise points. It's the only way to keep my small sixe now and I know that's what I have to do to maintain it. They say after 6 years, it gets easier.

Hello,

I am new to the group and i have taken a couple of zumba classes. I got the dvd and the wii game for my birthday last month. So with a new diet, I hope zumba will help me melt the pounds away.

Welcome! You can certainly do Zumba several times a week and 1400 cals a day is good. Keep moving.

Hey everyone!!

Well I'm back her on sparkpeople to help me lose the 15 pounds I have on this 40 year old body. I'm 5'2" and today I weighed in at 136.5 and my goal is 125. I have been doing Zumba 4 days a week. I started going before the holidays and it was sporadic, but on January 1st I've been going Monday - Thursday and only twice have I gone to only 3 classes a week. I'm starting to see some change. My intimates are fitting better! =) So at least I know I'm headed in the right direction. I'm keeping tabs on how many calories I'm consuming as well and that started on the 1st of the year too. Keeping it at 1400 calories a day.
So I would love to make new friends here and see how everyone is doing and what challenges they are facing.
One more hour and then I''m off to my Zumba class!! YAY!!

Stay calm and Zumba
