Doesn't matter if you're uncoordinated, we have every range of dancer in my class, all at different skill levels and they are very welcomed. :) Nobody can afford to take the time to watch you, lol, that's right!

Boy do you have that right, that's a great reminder, actually, from instructor to instructor its actually INCREDIBLY varied, just unreal. I've tried a few, I didn't at all care for--scuze the inference--this older one, she was just too low key for me, didn't even feel like cardio at all at her pace, don't see how you'd ever really get too much more fit or spot on in any rhythm either, I just hated it. Not only that but where you train is super central!!! I like lOts of room for freedom or it's no fun at all, in fact the cinched in feeling feels like it sucks all the fun right out of it, you need a large gym or great studio space, IMO.

But yeah, a few weeks and voila', goodness, the improvement can be unbelievable! Not for everyone, I know, lot of my friends didn't care for it...

Yes, it definitely does get easier! Just give it a few weeks. Also keep in mind that every instructor is different, so you keep looking until you find the right fit. I take classes from 3 - 4 different places, and that keeps me on my toes, as sometimes they have the same songs, but different dances. Just keep moving and have fun! No one is looking at you as they are trying to follow the instructor too! I found keeping count and that knowing on count 4 or 8, you are going to generally switch moves. I lost 30 lbs earlier in the year and I owe most of it to Zumba and I am extremely uncoordinated!

It's different for everyone, but YES, definitely it takes time to feel more coordinated. At my very first Zumba class, the instructor asked encouragingly that we all give it just 4 classes before we made up our minds. A month later, I was LOVING it and feeling coordinated enough to no longer feel like The Jerk!
Good luck and have FUN with it!!

did my first Zumba class last night. Boy, do I feel like the most uncoordinated person alive! I feel like Steve Martin did in The Jerk, just no rhythm! So, please tell me this gets easier emoticon

I know I don't have two left feet, I've danced with my husband plenty over the years. Please let me know if you had a hard time at the beginning and how long it took you to feel more comfortable and able to follow the instructor without staring at her feet.
