Hey there!! Welcome and definitely come by the instructors team!!! We are a funny bunch!!!
Everyone else has nailed your other question - get a HRM. Every body burns calories at a different rate based on height, weight, lean mass, metabolic rate, effort during workouts, etc - so its impossible to "guess" how many an individual might be burning. I personally burn about 500-600 calories an hour in each of my Zumba classes. If you want an accurate reading pick up a heart rate monitor.
I would HIGHLY recommend the Polar Ft4 - its reasonably priced, reliable, accurate and super comfortable. It runs about $90 at Best Buy and is well worth the investement! OH - and the only difference between the Men's and Women's version is the color - so don't worry that there will be any other differences with the watch/monitor itself (so if you prefer the silver, get that one instead!)
Here's the link for it: www.bestbuy.com/site/Polar+-+FT4+Men's+Hea
Now I personally wear a BodyBugg and I love that too!! Each device is awesome and will help you get a more accurate reading on how you're doing in class and what you're burning.
