The best of luck on your training day! My day was fabulously exhausting. You will burn a ton of calories so make sure to bring snacks and plenty of water. I wore my heart rate monitor and burned 2800 calories that day, 2400 of them were active. Just to give you a comparison - I burn between 380 and 550 during an hour Zumba class depending on the instructor and choreography. I haven't taught a full class yet. I taught my daughters' class Zumba for PE and the kids loved it. It was a fun way to get my feet wet.

I am a curves owner and licensed Zumba instructor. To teacha t a curves there is an online test to take at zumba.com. You will have access to it once you are licensed to teach Zumba. It is a very easy workbook and then contact a local Curves to see if they can use your services. Or you may be able to check it out at zumba.com for jobs listed. I couldn't find an instructor to teach at my location so went and learned it myself.

Thanks for the idea. How do you teach at a Curve setting? Do I need more training for that? My class is scheduled for May 6th (I'll definitely look for your post regarding the workshop, thanks).

Hi!!
Welcome to the team!!
I became licensed to teach Zumba in Oct. (You can read about the training day on my blog for Oct 4th, I think it was...)
I have a full time job, so I have only taught a few classes as a sub--both at Curves and at my gym. I just did a gig at Curves today (it was AWESOME!!). I would highly recommend teaching at Curves as a new instructor. It's only a 30 min class, and the ladies are usually very sweet and non-critical (since most have never done Zumba before).
Good luck with your training! When is it?

Just signed on to SparkTeam and I was so excited to see this page. I just LOVE Zumba. I've been taken Zumba for a year now and love it more and more each day. I'll be attending my Instructor Workshop soon and I'm very excited. I hope I'll be able to find somewhere to teach...really nervous I won't. Would love to hear from anyone who's licensed about getting started.
