Deb...any day you quit is good. I quit for 2 1/2 years in my 30's and then started again. I also quit numerous times for months at a time. Guess it wasn't meant to be my forever quits! This time was different for me. I used every bit of info I could get my hands on and I used this team for support. I planned and got ready for the day. I think when you quit because you want to for your health it is a different quit, it sticks. Like I said if you slip, that is all it is, you get right back on and start again! How is it going so far? The first 3 days are the hardest!Let us know deb! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Thanks Sandi! Hindsight says I sure should've done it sooner, but since I didn't do that, today is the best day lol. Hope it sticks this time!

Okay, I'm armed with Wellbutrin, nicotine patches, a busy job, crossword puzzles, drawing supplies, mints, and a filter pitcher to keep plenty of filtered water going. I know exactly how hard it's going to be because I've started attempts many times...I just never got very far with it. But this time it has to "take", and my quit day is tomorrow Sept. 8 2010. I've chosen to do it when I have 3 days off from work, because I can still keep myself busy but the difficulty in concentrating really frustrates me on work days, and I'm hoping that will be maybe a LITTLE less by the 4th day. The cigarettes and ashtrays all go into the dumpster tonight. Here's praying for strength to really do it this time!

Hi! Sorry I am late in getting to your post! First emoticon on your decision to quit smoking! Getting prepared is key so getting that list in place will be most helpful. Also I don't know about you, but I smoked when emotions got tough; especially boredom, loneliness, sadness, anger (that was a huge one for me), frustrated....even happy...I used to have that celebratory cigarette. Anyway coming up with how you will handle tough emotions and situations will be helpful as well.

I know you can do this! We're here to help, so please keep us posted.

Thanks much! Have PLENTY of stuff to keep me busy, and I have to say that I smoke more at work than home, which is y i picked the long weekend. But hadn't thought of a list, will definitely work on that today [at work, of course!] :) Thanks again............ will keep you posted

Ask him to smoke outside if he smoke inside, also...the first 3 days are the hardest so maybe he could also keep it out of sight so you don't have to see him smoking. After the 3 days you will need to find things to do when a crave hits you. I suggest you write a list of things like...take a walk, drinks an ice water, read, call a friend, clean a closet out. Try to make sure any coats and your car are clear of the smoke smell before you quit! I wish you luck and please post often and ask questions, we will support you through the quit! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

My quit date is less than 2 weeks away, and I have a friend who is quitting with me. My husband, however, wants to "wait until he loses the weight" before he quits, so I'm more than a little concerned about being home with him. He is supportive, but it's not like I can avoid smoke while he's here! Suggestions? At least he works nights, so we're only together for a short while everyday
