Hi everyone! I was just enjoying some "witchin in the kitchen" with my 8 year old son and it occurred to me that perhaps there was a sparkpeople group of like minds that I could join. My son hasn't really shown a lot of interest in my religious beliefs up until recently, so as he shows more interest, I'm finding myself practicing more actively day to day and sort of regrounding myself in my beliefs. I'm really enjoying sharing with him. I live in a really extremely Christian religious community (more churches than people) and I've been feeling the isolation more lately than what I ever did before. I've ever had Pagan friends or family to share my beliefs with, but I was always able to be open and honest about them before. Lately I'm finding that I need to be more careful what I say around my small community to avoid awkward confrontations. It would be really nice to get to know some other Pagan folks a bit and having the sparkpeople thing in common too doesn't really hurt. Looking forward to meeting some new people!

I am 37 years old, female and live in CA. I have been a witch for the last 10 years, although the last 3 years I have not done much practicing. Life had gotten in the way.
I am here on sparkpeople because I need to reclaim my health. I am hoping with the help of the people I meet her and with the support of my faith I will succeed.
Bright blessing, Angela

Good Morrow All! So great to find a team with the same beliefs and goals as myself! With a long road ahead of me it's nice to find friends along the way.....
I am me. I am who I'm meant to be. I am my past, present and who I want to be. I'm not anyone, I am all three. I'm a work in progress, a destiny. I am who I choose to be I am me.

Oh, and I hope everyone had a lovely Ostra this year... I know some of you probably celebrate it on the solstice while others celebrate on the calendar day of Easter, but either way I hope you all had a wonderful holiday!

Hello and Well Met!
I am fairly new to Spark People, and doing well so far. I am Pagan, but my beliefs are hard to describe. This is mainly because I believe personal beliefs should be exactly that: personal.
If I had to put a name on myself, I would say I am the closest to being Druidic. I view nature as holy, believe that every act in our daily lives can be viewed as sacred, and understand the realms of the spiritual and the magickal through the personification of Celtic deities. However, I also believe that these same beings appear in other beliefs, and that it is only our perceptions which change. (For example, Angus Og can be equated with the Hindu Kāmadeva, the Aztec Xochipili, even the Greek Cupid. They are all gods of love, beauty, and such, and they all are in some way associated with birds, feathers, wings, etc.)
As you can probably also tell, I am also something of a mythology buff. I agree with Joseph Campbell that Mythology is important because certain aspects of myths are innately human. I also believe that every myth has at least a grain of truth, and I believe that stories are important because they make us who we are.
Beyond that, my interests include books, antiques, Renaissance faires, natural science, history, theatre, and fantasy. I love to read, write, sketch, camp, and learn new things. I am insatiably curious, and as a result will spend hours exploring museums, watching documentaries, and researching anything that sparks my interest. I have two jobs-- one in tech support and one in copy-editing-- and I am proud to be absolutely geeky.
Obviously, I also have a tendency to post long, rambling messages! LOL!
Blessed Be! :)

I have been on and off spark since I stumbled upon it in 2008. I have had several accounts, but I have kept this one since I created it in 2010. I have problems with motivation so I tend to start off strong, but eventually fizzle out and poof.
I decided that I was going to wait until after the holidays to try to lose weight. So here I am, again. I keep trying so I'm hoping that one day I will stay motivated and keep at it.
I am an eclectic solitaire that follows the Norse deities and my husband is a Heathen.

Hi Tanedri, saw your post and read that you like to knit and spin too! Thought I would introduce myself. I started out hand spinning on a spindle and finally got a wheel this last year. I love it! Keep spinning

Hi I'm Francine. I usually go by Winterwren online. I have been pagan for about 12 years in various forms. I used to be more formally Wiccan, but over the last couple of years my group fell apart and so I haven't participated much in rituals. My own inclination lately is to lead more of a green witch lifestyle, more integrated into the daily things I do with a lot less formal practice. I still draw circles to meditate or pray, and I still celebrate the holidays in small ways.
I love to knit, and have become over the last 6 years or so an intermediate to fairly good knitter. I also hand spin and spin on a wheel. I garden in the summer, and have an herb garden as well as a veggie garden. My girls and I own two horses and we ride in the summer and fall when we can.
I'm just starting out on spark people, but I thought it might be fun to join a message board and get some support!

Merry Meet, Hi, my name is Vonda. I had been living a pagan life way before I had ever heard of Wicca. I have always been very open to "religious" paths. Maybe 15 years ago, the wife of one of my husband's army friend gave a name to what I was already doing. Since that time I have tried to learn more and have been enjoying my path.
I live in a very rural area and have be solitary all this time. For the most part I have been silent. Just in the last few years, the Goddess has brought people into my life that I could share what I have learned. I still consider them and myself solitary but with friends. We serve separately but celebrate together.
I consider myself an empath and often had found myself in a emotional roller coasters that I have not had control off. Because of that I became and emotional eater. Once I started charting the ups and downs because my doctor wanted to see if we could find a pattern to the swings. He doesn't quite see things the same as me...so I let him think what he saw and suggested was the answers to the findings. But in truth, I had to learn how to shut that off. And let me tell you that is easier said than done. I am happy to say that today I have learned to control my reactions to all but extreme emotional situations.
I have 2 daughters, 2 grand babies (one of each), a husband (of 24 years), 2 chihuahuas, 2 cats and 6 gold fish. And, we all live in my little house.
Still don't talk about or flaunt what I believe or do except to people that are already open to possibilities. As you can tell, I love words and can run on and on. So forgive me for the long and winding tale. But is is nice not to keep my words in check.
Hi - My name is Angie - Ang - My Wiccan name is Willow. I am a solitary Celtic eclectic. My heart and my beliefs have always been out of sync with any denominational religion. it wasn't that I didn't give any of them a chance. I always returned to the guidelines my soul set for me as a child. I am now 63. I wish I had been stronger about staying on my the path of my own choice throughout my life journey. Family, work, other people influences are not so easily accepting.

Hello and Merry Meet, I am a practicing witch, and usually go by Wild Juniper online. I am a member of a coven in the North East part of Texas. I know that beauty comes in all forms, but I really want to be able to get out and enjoy nature more. As it is I'm the slowest one when I go on hikes! Yikes! I have been overweight for the past 6 years. I used to be very active physically... I gained weight, and the doctors weren't sure why. It was about 80 lbs in a year... so I gave up for a while. I just ate whatever and stopped working out. That led to me gaining another 20 lbs. (at +100 now, lol). Last year I joined Weight Watchers, and I did lose some weight, but I couldn't afford the $$ to continue. I did well for a while on my own, but eventually I gained most of what I lost back. I love the idea of having community support when we are working on something as challenging as changing our entire lifestyles. And I look forward to getting to know everyone! Many bright blessings

Hi everyone. If there is anyone here that plays World of Warcraft, I'm Tanedri on the Zul'Jin server, "Guild Mom Tane" in the Peasant's Union Guild. :D I actually don't game that much but you might catch me there in the evening. I love to knit while watching TV w/ my husband at night mostly. I also spin yarn on a drop spindle and one of goals when I lose half my weight is to buy a spinning wheel and take a class on wheel spinning.
I'm an ordained High Priestess of Wicca but I'm currently not serving a coven as over the past couple years my family has relocated a couple of times to try to help other family members. I hope to be forming and serving a new coven after we make our move. I'm currently a full time receptionist at ITT Technical Institute and I do hold an AS degree in computer network administration and I'm in the last few weeks of finishing my BS degree in Information Systems Security. I hope to gain a career as an Information Systems Security Auditor. My husband and I plan to relocate to Boston with our lovely 5 year old daughter, Elora to be near family. We'll be relocating from GA next year.
We're also owned by 4 cats and a golden retriever. My Golden, Harley, is my exercise partner for better or for worse.
Nice to meet everyone!

I am 24 (only for a couple more weeks though!!), a mom of a toddler with another baby due in six and a half weeks! Married to my best friend and a full-time student! My life is a little hectic at the moment!
I have been losing touch with myself over the past couple years and am looking to get myself back onto my spiritual path. I had been an eclectic Wiccan but have not really been practicing much of anything for a while now. I look forward to being a part of this group and hopefully finding myself again!

So, I've been using Spark for about a year and a half now. I only started using the social aspect in the last 6 months, and it really has been helpful. I don't blog but like the back and forth. I also go to OA meetings and have 6 months abstinent from compulsive overeating. I live in the Northeast of the US. I've recently rededicated to my spiritual path and decided I can never get too much support, so I should join some teams that I can relate to spiritually. I live alone with my kitty, my kids are raised and out, and have a boyfriend I don't live with that I've been with forever. I am basically an eclectic Wiccan. Was in a coven for several years that kind of drifted apart, geographically. A new circle opened up in my area and went real well so I'm excited about that. I'm pretty private, don't FB, so the teams are kind of a new thing for me.

This time I am going to make sure it sticks. I look forward to communicating with you guys and meeting everyone. I am so glad they have/allow teams on here that are for Pagans. I have been a Pagan for about 10 years but only recently really started to learn more about it and delve into the religion more.

Hi! I'm a newbie Eclectic Wicca, with a bent towards Celtic things. I came across Wicca when I was thirteen, but didn't have ability or maturity to diferentiate between cultish and true paths, so I stepped away from it for six years. Just recently have I really committed to this path, so I'm working hard to study everything possible. I definitely have trouble with the law of three, because I tend to let my emotions guide me and that gets me into trouble sometimes, but I'm working on it.

Hi, pleased to meet you all. I class myself simply as Pagan. I'm a mother to two teenage boys. I like keeping fit by playing tennis (badly), rebounding and walking my dog. Enjoy watching things like Buffy, Big Bang Theory, Dexter and my favourite film genre is sci-fi. Wasn't sure what religion or spiritual beliefs I held, until my youngest son was born. He had a stroke when I was pregnant and I needed to find something to give me strength spiritually. So I've been Pagan for about 15 years now, it seemed to call to me and made sense.
Looking forward to getting to know you all better :-)

I would be the pagan equivalent of a nonpractising Catholic. I fell away from the traditional organized religion as I became educated in History, Physics, Astronomy etc. But the kicker was this: I came home from work, (In a Pediatric ICU), and was telling my now ex husband that one of the Pakistani Drs ( a muslim) is one of the finest, kindest people I have ever known. His reponse "Yeah, well too bad he's going to hell" REALLY? I could not tolerate the unforgiving, narrowminded, rigid way of thinking.
I turned to something more earth-based. I have always thought that religion is fine, as long as it makes you a good person. I think we need to take better care of the planet and ourselves, and we need to be kinder to the animals that share our planet.
I was a practising Wiccan for several years, but when I remarried I had kids to raise, still working fulltime, and cooking, cleaning etc for a whole family, and I just never really found time to be active in the Wiccan community.
So here I am, trying to better myself, my community, and the planet, in my own little way.

Brightest blessings! My name is Angela. I am a SAHM to two boys: Dimitri (nearly 4 y/o) and Mathias (nearly 2 y/o). Although my husband (of almost 11 years now) is agnostic, I have been Pagan for just over 15 years. While I used to follow Wicca, I actually consider myself Hedge. I was never brought up religious; my parents never took my brother and me to church and believed we should make that decision on our own. After tons of research, soul-searching, and attending various churches with friends and boyfriends, I never felt a connection--and I never believed any of the stories. A serendipitous purchase that my dad made at a pawn shop when I was a teenager changed my life: it was a small box full of miscelleous magickal stones and figurines, Pagan pins, and Tarot cards. I had never known anything about any of this stuff, so I researched it (at the same time I had a research paper due in high school) and discovered Paganism. Although I declared myself Pagan that year, when I was 16 years old, I was probably Pagan my whole life. After all, my brother and I also had shadow people living in our childhood home that had become every-day people in our lives to us.
I joined SP just after our first son was born, but I couldn't keep up with it, mostly because I was nursing him, then became pregnant with our second child (while still nursing our first), and then was nursing our second. I'm proud to say I nursed both boys for 18 months, and our youngest just weaned in January. Our family is now complete, so now my body is MINE again and I can now cut my calories without worrying whether it will affect our kids. I restarted my program on Sunday and started my program again on Monday, April 30. Despite catching bronchitis at the same time, I am still sticking to my diet-and-exercise plan, just without cardio for right now.
I'm so happy to find this team on SP! I live in an area that has only one metaphysical shop within a 50-mile radius, so it's very difficult to find like-minded individuals where I live now. All of our friends are Christian, and although we don't hide my beliefs in our home decor (my husband loves fairies and dragons, while I have wizard, witch, and Pagan plaques throughout), religion and faith has never been brought up, so we don't think they know. I have lost many "friends" because they thought my faith was demonic or evil or something, but my best friend (of 18 years) is Christian and knows exactly who and what I am and still loves me.
Anyway, it's great to find a place where a healthy lifestyle and spirituality can come together! I look forward to meeting others!

Merry Met, I've been a member of Sparks for almost two years and just joined Pagan Place. I'm Wiccan/Pagan and have been since I was 14. I married and my kids are my cats (we have three of them). I'm a proud aunt of two nieces and two nephews. The oldest is 8 years old and the youngest is 3 months. I've been having weight issues off and on throughout my life, but they have become worse while I was developing fibromyalgia. It's not easy trying to lose weight with medication that hinders my efforts. I've finally found two exercises that my body can handle Tai Chi and Qi Gong. I started Tai Chi this Saturday and Qi Gong on Sunday. So far I'm enjoy both.

Hello everyone, I've been on Sparkpeople off and on over the last year, but in the last 5 weeks have been on everyday. I've finally decided that I have to try my hardest instead of being a procrastinator. I am a history teacher who loves learning new things. I'm also Pagan, but I don't think I hail to any one "way". I kind of follow my own path, but essentially we all do, or at least should, follow our own hearts when it comes to spirituality. Speaking of spirituality, I have found an exercise that I feel draws me close to nature and all of its beauty - hiking. I love it! The best part of it is that I can get lost in my own thoughts without the distractions of other people, cars, and loud noises. It's just me and the woods. Love it. Anyway, if anyone wants to chat about anything just message me or send me a post to my wall. I'm pretty easy-going with a love for learning about others and other cultures.

Hi everyone! This is my 2nd time around on SparkPeople (I regained the little I had lost plus some since I was here before) and my 1st time here as a Pagan/Wiccan/Christo-Pagan. I was raised a Lutheran but find that, in my 40s, I now relate to Wicca more than any other religious following. I have my high school daughter to thank for introducing me to this wonderful world. This year, we celebrated both Yule and, a few days later, Christmas. (My husband and boys aren't too sure about Paganism just yet.)
I look forward to sharing my weightloss and spiritual journey with like-minded others.

I have had major weight issues my whole life... but until last week... I always convinced myself that "tomorrow will be a great day to start..." Tomorrow has become to late... I have to do something now.
I have never been able to conform to any religion contained by walls (as I call it)... and was drawn to the pagan path about a year before the death of my mother. Back then, I had a network of people for sharing and support... friends... co-workers... etc. But since I moved... I have not been able to make the same connections. People who surrounded my new life here, are quite judgemental of anyone not Christian. I recently discovered that most people who "know" me ... actually believe that I am an atheist... and that seemed more acceptable to them than the truth. I have slowly and gently started setting them straight.
With the recent health scare of last week... I decided it wasn't enough to eat healthy... work out... deal with emotional issues... but I also need to honor and practise my pagan beliefs as well. So I am coming to you fine people for support and guidance in like thinking and belief... knowing that it takes more than counting calories and increasing your cardio to achieve wellness... you must honor your spiritual as well for complete healing.
Blessed Be !

Hello. My name is Georgia and I have recently committed myself to a healthier lifestyle. I am the heaviest I've ever been in my life so I am really determined to lose some weight and become more active. I am married and live in a small rural town in Illinois. I work full time and go to school at night. I am working towards a degree in Psychology. I have been pagan for the last fifteen years. I am mostly solitary but have been trying to meet more local pagans for the last couple of years. I enjoy a community setting every once and awhile so I have gone to a UU church and was active in a pagan group that celebrated the Sabbats.
My family does not respect my beliefs so it has been a difficult journey. I was raised in a strict Lutheran household. It is challenging but I still love my family and we just agree to disagree.
I am a step mom to a 9 year old girl. My husband is my best friend and he respects me and my beliefs. I am a happy person and try to surround myself with positive people and avoid toxic people as much as possible.
If anyone here wants to friend me feel free. I am very open-minded and easy going.

Hello all. I have been following the pagan path exclusively for many years now having been introduced to it in childhood by members of my family. I feel that I should represent my faith in a way that will bring honor to myself, my path and my patron deities. The world takes such a dim view of those who are overweight, especially when one is very overweight. All sorts of assumptions are made that he or she is lazy, irresponsible, dirty, stupid etc. Changing these stereotypes would of course be the ideal, but one of my motivators is to change how cowans view me based on my appearance. Other motivators include my family and our plans to marry this upcoming autumn at Samhain (and not wanting to look like the broadside of a barn in my wedding dress!). I am not formally trained, I just follow my family's traditions although I have discovered they closely correlate to many of the more mainstream pagan ideas. Feel free to drop me a line. I always enjoy making new friends.

hello Everyone! I've always thought about searching for a sparkpeople group like this and finally did a search and glad I have joined. I'm 30yrs old and I'm living in southern indiana. I'm trying to lead a more healthy lifestyle and improve my health. I found my path when i was a pre-teen but was respectful to my family and didn't really get invovled until after I left my families house. I haven't explored the community around me but want to. I'm looking for like minded friends here.

HI everyone! I'm Angel. I'm 43 yrs old and the mom of an almost 5 yr old son. I've lost almost 20 lbs since the summer. Struggling with emotional and late night eating, binging, and lack of planning. Also having trouble getting enough exercise in the winter. But, I"m determined to get healthier! I'm a Unitarian Universalist, and Pagan as well. I've been to several summer pagan cons and love them. I resonate with this religion very well.
I go by "Angel". :)
You are worth having a healthy body!
This is a lifestyle change to be healthy, not a diet and not a sprint to get there.. one day at a time, one pound at a time.. as long as it takes.

Hi! I'm Holly. I'm looking for like minded friends to talk to on here and help each other reach goals. I have been studying pagan religions since I was a young teenager, but being from a Christian family and community, I tried to fit in with them. I recently got up the courage to let my family know that I would be taking a different path. I'm currently studying Wicca and many other pagan beliefs to form my own set of beliefs. I'm very open minded and love to talk about anything.

I finally decided to join this team after being a member of SparkPeople for two and a half years. Typically I try to stay fairly secular online but lately I realized that I was denying myself a rather large helping of support by doing so here.
So here I am!
I'm 26, and one could make the argument that I've been pagan all my life. My parents were very open about all religions and I was allowed to explore and adapt as long as I never harmed anyone in the process. I'm one of the lucky ones, I guess. I actually didn't start to clam up about religion until I got to college and made friends with a lot of atheists. It really only takes one night of mockery to decide "maybe I should keep this private for awhile."
I've grown up enough to realize that I can be open and quiet at the same time, and the more accepting and open I become the more at peace I feel. I think that joining this team is just another step on that path.
Thank you, and I hope that I can be as much of a benefit to you all as you will be to me.
Your happiness is up to you. Whatever happened in your life to make you who you are up until the point you realize this is irrelevant. It is your responsibility now to take control and change your life to be what you want it to be.

Missy and Daenarys, welcome! It's a bit quiet around here, what with the holidays, but I'm hoping it will pick up after we settle into January!

Greetings! I was relieved to see some teams of pagan influence on here. I have been pagan for 15 years nearly. Only these past few have I really begun to dive deep into it. I am really interested in Shamanism and Witchcraft, but ultimately follow my own path. I look forward to finding friends of like minds and obtaining the strength to battle my overeatting.
Im on my way!

Hello everyone. I'm 27 and I've been following a Pagan bath since I was about 15. I'm married and the mother of a four and a half year old. Never really had a problem with my weight until I stopped breastfeeding a little more than three years ago. Then it took me two years to lose 20 pounds and only one summer to gain it all back. But hopefully this time I can lose it and keep it off.

Hello there everyone!
My name is Allyson. I have been on SP for a while and just found this group! So I am happy to join! I am a solitary more ritual than anything else Celtic pagan. I do have a bit of Cherokee in me and sometimes look for help in that area but not often. I started my journey in the middle 90s when I started looking into my ancestory.
I used to be 326 lbs but within 2 1/2 years have lost 145lbs total so far. I love to jog and have participated in 6 races this year. Most of them were 5K races but it's a blast and I love it!
I try to exercise 1 hour every day. Right now, it's rather busy so I am not as dedicated as I usually am. I do have a goal of losing more weight this coming year. However, since I haven't seen size 12 since I was 13 yrs old. I am enjoying this weight!

Hi All, My name is Cheryl and I've been following a Pagan-ish path for about 7-8 years. I was brought up in a non-practicing Catholic home, decided at age 12 on atheism/agnosticism and then started looking for "something" around age 30. I follow the Wheel of the Year - which has helped greatly with Seasonal Affective Disorder! I also believe that our bodies are our personal temples and that we need to listen to what it needs and not abuse it with junk food and a sedentary lifestyle. I don't have perfect habits yet, but try to improve slowly and in a way that will be maintained long-term.

Hello everyone! My name is Candace and I need to lose about 60 lbs. I'm kind of in the "broom closet" when it comes to my beliefs. I have 4 beautiful daughters and teach school as my day job. I have just begun my path with the Wicca faith. I have a fondness with the Celtic deities, artwork, mythology, etc. I also have been belly dancing in a dance troupe for about 6 years. I feel stifled by my catholic religion and would like to me like minded people on this weight loss journey.

Hello everyone. Today is my first day on Spark people and I am enthused. I am focused not on losing mass amounts of weight, but returning to my flexitarian, unprocessed diet. I would like to lose 10-15 pounds, but that's it. I like the way I look. I am a hedge witch, in the traditional style, with a love of divination, herbalism and ecstatic practice.
