Hi there!! I've been battling obesity since I was 4 years old, and I'm currently at the highest weight of my life. I've been yo-yoing between getting healthy and losing motivation for a number of years now, and I'm really sick and tired of it. I'm a size 18-20 and want to go back to my favourite size, 8.

Welcome! I have been on this journey for 14 years now, and on SP a little over 8 years. It is definitely a healthy lifestyle change, and I find myself often yo-yoing between getting healthy and falling off the wagon. I am now wanting to lose the last 30 lbs (and possibly more). My body seems to want to fight going below a size 12.

Good Luck on your fitness and healthy lifestyle journey and definitely look forward to chatting with you more!

Hello!
I am new to the group and fairly new to SP. Trying to lose weight, live a healthy lifestyle, find more fitness activities I enjoy, rather than dreading the workout! Hoping to meet people in this group as well as find and give support.

Hello,

I am new to the team, just joined today. I have been a member of SP for 8 years now, but not active on the site the entire time. The reason I have recommited to SP and to joining some new groups is because I have repeatedly fallen off the wagon and thought if I interact with people more often, that will lead to better success. Plus, it never hurts to be around like minded people!! :-)

Anyways, I hope to get to know some of you better and hopefully find and give support. Cant wait to talk to you all soon.

I am in my 50's and hoping to finally stick to my goal of losing weight through exercising regularly and eating healthy (my problem tends to be portion control!). I have been with spark on and off for years and have found I need the program, it makes it easier to be accountable right or wrong! So hello and good luck to everyone on their healthy journey. ;0)

Evening. I'm a married, mid 40's, mother of one adult child. I've practiced a personal eclectic form of paganism privately for more than 20 years now. I just moved to another area so I thought I'd touch base online, network a bit if possible.

I dont unfortunately get the chance very often to practice my religion. But I have been doing some research and I think I want my patron Goddess to be Hecate. Ironically enough there is a Yew tree in my YARD lol

Hello Everyone!
I am new to the forum, and fairly new to the path. I am 40 years old and I have survived CIDP and I am a fibromyalgia warrior! I suffered paralysis when my CIDP was most active and although I am walking now I do so with some limitations. The fact I was sedentary for a year and was on prednisone contributed to a 100 lb weight gain. I have lost some of the weight but I have 70lbs to go.

I am looking for like minded people to keep me on track towards my goals. I am so happy to have found this forum!

Blessed Be!

Hello everyone!
I'm 23, from NY. I've had a sparkpeople account in the past, but I kind of drifted from it, and still ended losing the 50lbs I was looking to lose. This past winter I gained quite a bit, and I rejoined to get back on track, and stay on it. I decided to try to maintain at 130, and focus on building muscle, and becoming more passionate about yoga. I'm not 100% happy with my body, but I know it's more about toning up than just losing more weight. It's better than it was, and it'll keep getting better.

Highest: 178lbs Current: 128lbs
Goal: Maintaining & Toning.

Hello! I'm 45, and have just recently given up on getting the gastric sleeve. It's too long of a story, but my daughters have told me that they will support me and encourage me doing this on my own. Right now I have a terrible spring head cold, so I'm not being all that enthusiastic about getting started. But I will get there. I've been on Spark People off and on for ages, and never really taken it seriously. But I'm an RN and working towards being a nurse practitioner, and I really want to be a good example to my patients...plus I'm just tired of hurting. I feel like I'm 85 rather than 45!

Hope to meet lots of people here.

Hi
My name is Laura and I'm a 35 year old therapist, wife and mother to a beautiful 8 year old boy. I don't ever remember a time when I felt comfortable with my body (well, perhaps prior to puberty, I suppose), but like many a facebook meme says, I wish I were as "fat" as I was the first time I thought I was fat. In high school, I had poor self esteem, but was at a healthy weight. My mother died when I was 17, likely from complications related to her weight. For my entire life she was either dieting or eating all the Hostess cupcakes she could get her hands on. She also smoked 1 1/2 packs of cigarettes daily. I quit smoking a few times, but quit permanently 8 years ago. I lost 50 pounds 2 years ago, grew complacent and have gained 55 back. My mother was 47 when she died and I do NOT want to follow in her footsteps. I'm here to lose that 50 pounds again, keep going, lose another 50 pounds (or close to it) and live long enough to embarrass my grandchildren and babysit my great grandchildren.

Hi everyone! I'm pursuing a pagan path and lifestyle. I'm still learning, and haven't decided which is the best path for me, but I'm sure I'm on the right track! I generally struggle with my weight and eating correctly, but I'm trying to rectify that.

I tend to go by Elleyena or Elley online, so if you see this name elsewhere (or it's counterpart: Elleyena Rose) that's probably me! I'm a Disney fan, and like playing games with friends.

I'm looking forward to getting to know y'all and learning from those who are willing to teach :)

Nice to meet all of you, I just turned 50 and spent most of my life living in pain, both physical and emotional pain. I spent most of my life self medicating, and that is now a thing of the past. I have finally been diagnosed with lumbar arthritis, DDD, spinal stenois, bone spurs on my lumbar vertebra, depression and panic attack. Today I gave myself a huge pat on the back I walked in and join the YMCA for the first time in my life. I had never even saw the inside of a gym. I learned how to use the treadmill, enjoyed the warm pool, then took a nice long hot shower before leaving. I am already hooked, I felt so amazing when I came out. So I meet my first challenge, walking in the door! I know that seems silly for most but for me that was a big step. I am currently on a lot of narcotic meds for the pain and nerve damage, as well as nerves in general. I set my goal small to loose 10 lbs, but I am working my way up to walking my 1st ever 5k May 31st, I signed up to do the local color run. My life finally has color again, after a very dark time. I lost my 23 yr old son a few yrs back in a car accident and my life has not and never will be the same. So my new motto is MOVE IT OR LOOSE IT. I'm so scared I will not be able to walk in the future, I want to keep my freedom and what health I have, and maybe just maybe become even more healthier. feel free to friend me, etc. looking forward to getting to know everyone... oh a little else about me, I am a very spiritual person, pagan, Taoist nature lover at heart, I also love yoga!

Hi, guys! I'm Robin and I've been very involved in the pagan community for a number of years. In the last year or two I have moved back more into the interfaith movement and I love it! I am a grandmother raising 4 grandchildren and determined to stay as healthy as I can as long as I can! My goal is to make the 100 year (and still be playing!). I've been a member of Spark People for several years but have been inactive. Due to a recent health "scare" - I'm back and better motivated than ever!

Love, light and blessings,
Robin

All interested parties are welcomed here, and we are glad to have you.
This is the most supportive non-judgemental group of folks I have found in all of SparkPeople ( and that's saying something). My name is Janet and I don't post in groups as often as I should, but I'm always around so if you need anything just shoot me a spark mail.

I've been a member of Spark People for a few years now but have only been active for the past 8 or 9 months. I saw this team on an email I got and wanted to check it out.
I am interested in pretty much EVERYTHING when it comes to religion/ philosophy so I thought this would be a great team to join to get to see something a little different than the "mainstream".

Hi! Not certain I belong here as I am neither Witch nor Wiccan. I am what some call "Goddessian" as I follow the Goddess, although I observe all esbats and include many facets of various Pagan beliefs/practices in observing my own esoteric path.
I am a Crone.....at 71 there's no question of that.....and thoroughly enjoy belonging to SparkPeople and finding my way back to a healthy weight and eating practice.
Be well.....be kind to yourselves.....

Hi folks, I'm Jean. I've been on SP since 2008 but just discovered this group today. I'm in my 50s, live in the San Francisco bay area, and work at UC Berkeley. I'm a laid-back and solitary-ish sort of pagan. I play music, have lots of cats, and grow irises (especially historic iris). Life's been way too busy lately and I've really been missing getting out in nature - have to remedy that!

Hi all! And BB!
I'm Moonie, and I'm here to dust off some flab! LOL!

I'm the VP Of the Southern NH Pagan Pride Project, and I came to SparkPeople to get myself in shape to serve my pagan community with health and vigor. There's a lot of work to do before our event this year, and I decided I need to get myself in order while I'm getting our event in order! I look forward to being a member of the Pagan Place team, lets all GET HEALTHY!

I am a granny that has walked to the beat of a different drum for many years but fought it. As I got older, I finally said to heck with it, I am going to just be me and to heck with what others think or say. It is my life and my heart. There, I found peace and many questions, my quest began. Now I have found many answers and still have questions that lead me down the paths of life that have no boundries other than my heart, which is what I follow daily. I don't have to read a book or listen to man to know what to do cause there is a Higher Power that speaks to my Higher Self and when I get that peaceful feeling in my gut, that is when I know I have found my answer. So life is like a treasure hunt every day, with some days being a day of rest and some being a day of adventure. Then you have the days thrown in their by the choices of others...lol.

I take from several different beliefs but claim no specific religion of dogma...I keep it as simple as possible and that makes life so much easier as there are enough challenges as it is. Sometimes I take one day at a time and when things get rough, I tone it down to one minute at a time. I still have my challenges with health issues but these bodies are not perfect and years of abuse....well I am a believer in karma for sure, but also miracles. So just maybe if healing don't take place at least standstills will. Keeping positive, but real.

My name is Jess and I'm a 28 year old grad student in school for Oriental Medicine. I joined sparkpeople because I want to stay healthy and be a good example for my future patients (and my current clients - I'm currently a massage therapist).

I don't really know what else to put here because my life is school and work. So yeah, hello!

Returning to spark people after a long time away and an extra 55 pounds to show for it. I follow the laid back path of green witchcraft, and recently moved to a new house with 10 acres of land to play with... Whenever spring shows up.

I work as an EMT at a very high call volume ambulance company. I just restarted T25 this week and am ready for my transformation to begin.

If anyone needs or would like someone to help keep them accountable and such, I'm looking for the same!

My name is Chole, my nickname is cirra, and I am living in Lubbock, TX.
I am solitary but do celebrate with close friends when I am down in the Dallas area (trying to find work down there again so I can move back into my house in one of the suburbs). My girlfriend is also a solitary and we well celebrate when we are together (live in different cities).
I found this group when I went searching for new groups to join. My old groups petered out and most have little or no activity on them.
I joined SP back in 2008 and lost over 75 lbs. When I met my gf I started spending a lot of time on the road traveling to see her and the family. At the same time I started back to college taking classes to earn my B.S. online. The horrible eating on the weekends coupled with no time after work to exercise were disastrous on my weight loss goals then I pretty much just stopped trying although I never left SP.
I achieved the B.S. and have since started graduate school so I still am having a hard time finding time for exercise but I am now paying attention to what I am eating again. Loss is happening, albeit very slowly, so I am happy.

Hi Mystral,

I'm new to the community and love meeting others who walk this path. I'm not as familiar with wicca as I'd like to be, so could you explain what an air witch is? I love learning about these things and have considered dabbling in it myself.

I'm a NE Ohioan who has found solace in Paganism...Druidry to be specific (and yes - I am aware that we know very little of the original druids that the Romans so graciously tried to erase from history). I'm a solitary, but really only because trying to find others with which to establish a grove in this neck of the woods is near impossible.

I'd love to help deepen my connection to the earth with the guidance of experienced Pagans all while spending as much time outside in my journey to lose a few pounds and gain some strength.

I'd love to hear from everyone! I'm all about motivating each other and helping one another grow in strength both physically and spiritually.

Welcome Glo, we are a quiet bunch, there are a lot of great people here. I myself am a solitary practitioner not sure where I fit in. I just know there is something more out there. Some energy that can be utilized to shape my experience. My gift is cooking, I try to cook with intention. I am hoping to start a herb garden this year any advice would be great! Blessed Be

Hello everyone.

Awesome to find this team, I didn't know there was one. It just popped up as a featured team. I am very lightweight pagan here. I don't belong to any local organization. I don't do any private rituals other than finding quiet time in nature.

I live in South FL so I enjoy great weather most of the year. It does make things different since here when people celebrate spring they think, yay, getting warmer, time to get out of the house, here it is the opposite. Also Mabon tends to be a time of planting, not harvesting. But mostly I garden for the wildlife, the butterflies, the bees, birds. I have dragonflies that come to my small pond in the summer. My biggest joy yesterday was watching the hummingbird.

Other than that, I have two grown children, both still at home. My daughter is pursuing a writing career and she sews awesome costumes. My son started college this term, he's going into the environmental field.. I have him to thank for introducing me to the joy of gardening for wildlife when he did a project so many years ago. At that time I was growing mostly herbs. They are still one of my huge plant loves. Well along with cacti, bromeliads, got a bit hooked on orchids a few years ago. Oh and I love plants with unique foliage and well, I am a plantaholoic,.

Merry Meet All!

I have been on SparkPeople for almost a year and been dieting on and off for that amount of time. I am down 26 lbs from my highest weight but no where close to my goal yet. I can't believe I just found this page! How exciting!! I am an eclectic air witch and thankfully have a support group both in and out of the Pagan community. This just broadens that base woot!! Any tips and tricks are gladly appreciated and I hope to get to know everyone!

Hello all!

I joined SparkPeople on Sunday and I've already lost two pounds! I attribute the rip-roaring success to help from Loki, who keeps my fire burning.

Hi everyone,

I've been coming to SparkPeople off and on for a few years, and I think I might have joined this group when I first joined SparkPeople.

I'm happily married with two grown children (still living at home). I'm also an avid runner and a vegetarian.

The Inches to Imbolc challenge looks like a great one, and I look forward to getting to know everyone and to starting 2014 off well!

Hi! I just joined SPARKPEOPLE. I was raised in a strict Baptist home, went to a Christian school & lived that way most of my life. I guess about 5 years ago I realized that I only believed what I did because that's all I had ever been taught. I decided that I was going to start studying some different beliefs & that quickly brought me to Paganism. Our town is one that is small & filled with Christian churches so it is hard to find anyone that would speak to me, but I did find a lady who told me to start studying the history of the holidays. Once I did that, my eyes were opened to a lot of untruths I had been taught in church. I would not consider myself a Wiccan though I find it interesting & would love to learn more. Right now I am probably closer to Druidism. I love nature & feel my best when walking in the woods. I feel such a connection & it is good. I am getting into crystals & their meanings, using them as they should be, etc. I am finding a love of history & studying Goddesses. I have lost friends & relatives because of this, but it's okay. Sad, but okay. I wish there was a group in my town or more people that I could speak with, but it's very solitary. I hope that I can find some good friendships here:) My goal is to lose 50 lb.'s. I don't seem to have much problem losing
weight, it is the keeping it off that is the problem. I will admit the older I get, the less easy it
is. I need to do it for good this time!

Greetings everyone - I was not so sure this SP site contained any Pagans, etc. until I did a bit of searching and found this team. I would consider myself a Celtic Shamanistic practitioner and I am in my Crone age, having recently entered my 6th decade. My husband is a Welshman who follows a Greenman/Druid path. He is a musician and I am a singer. My heritage is Scots and I've traveled to Scotland and the UK many, many times in the past 30 years. I have a life-long battle with my weight that I intend to end with this effort. At this time last year, I weighed an all-time high of 235. Starting on my own in August 2013, I determined to turn things around for myself by revising my eating plan completely. From that time until today, I've lost 39lbs, and I joined SP a few days ago to help me finish off the second half of this effort by June 1, 2014. We purchased a treadmill 6 mo. ago, so I regularly use that as my exercise effort, but it seems to be my eating overhaul that is largely responsible for my success thus far. I hope to learn from the members of this team and help with support when I can. In the meantime - Blessed Be, Sorcha

Hi everyone! I was just enjoying some "witchin in the kitchen" with my 8 year old son and it occurred to me that perhaps there was a sparkpeople group of like minds that I could join. My son hasn't really shown a lot of interest in my religious beliefs up until recently, so as he shows more interest, I'm finding myself practicing more actively day to day and sort of regrounding myself in my beliefs. I'm really enjoying sharing with him. I live in a really extremely Christian religious community (more churches than people) and I've been feeling the isolation more lately than what I ever did before. I've ever had Pagan friends or family to share my beliefs with, but I was always able to be open and honest about them before. Lately I'm finding that I need to be more careful what I say around my small community to avoid awkward confrontations. It would be really nice to get to know some other Pagan folks a bit and having the sparkpeople thing in common too doesn't really hurt. Looking forward to meeting some new people! emoticon

Hello all.

I am 37 years old, female and live in CA. I have been a witch for the last 10 years, although the last 3 years I have not done much practicing. Life had gotten in the way.

I am here on sparkpeople because I need to reclaim my health. I am hoping with the help of the people I meet her and with the support of my faith I will succeed.

Bright blessing,
Angela

Good Morrow All!
So great to find a team with the same beliefs and goals as myself! With a long road ahead of me it's nice to find friends along the way.....

I am me. I am who I'm meant to be.
I am my past, present and who I want to be.
I'm not anyone, I am all three.
I'm a work in progress, a destiny.
I am who I choose to be
I am me.

Oh, and I hope everyone had a lovely Ostra this year... I know some of you probably celebrate it on the solstice while others celebrate on the calendar day of Easter, but either way I hope you all had a wonderful holiday!

Hello and Well Met! emoticon

I am fairly new to Spark People, and doing well so far. I am Pagan, but my beliefs are hard to describe. This is mainly because I believe personal beliefs should be exactly that: personal.

If I had to put a name on myself, I would say I am the closest to being Druidic. I view nature as holy, believe that every act in our daily lives can be viewed as sacred, and understand the realms of the spiritual and the magickal through the personification of Celtic deities. However, I also believe that these same beings appear in other beliefs, and that it is only our perceptions which change. (For example, Angus Og can be equated with the Hindu Kāmadeva, the Aztec Xochipili, even the Greek Cupid. They are all gods of love, beauty, and such, and they all are in some way associated with birds, feathers, wings, etc.)

As you can probably also tell, I am also something of a mythology buff. I agree with Joseph Campbell that Mythology is important because certain aspects of myths are innately human. I also believe that every myth has at least a grain of truth, and I believe that stories are important because they make us who we are.

Beyond that, my interests include books, antiques, Renaissance faires, natural science, history, theatre, and fantasy. I love to read, write, sketch, camp, and learn new things. I am insatiably curious, and as a result will spend hours exploring museums, watching documentaries, and researching anything that sparks my interest. I have two jobs-- one in tech support and one in copy-editing-- and I am proud to be absolutely geeky.

Obviously, I also have a tendency to post long, rambling messages! LOL!

Blessed Be! :)

I actually joined yesterday, but never got around to visiting my teams. So here I am now. emoticon

I am an eclectic pagan. I am currently studying at the Kitchen Witch School of Natural Witchery.

Hi all, Nancy here. I'm a Pagan Witch living in Orpington, Kent.

Additionally, I am an energy healer, using Reiki and shamanic healing techniques.

Rediscovering who I am, one tiny step at a time.

Hi people!

I'm Mare. I've been a practicing Druid for about 6 years or so. It's nice to see some like-minded people on a site I'm using to bring balance back to my body.

Onward, comrades!
Come and join my team!

While I joined ages ago, it was just a fad at the time. I've moved and put on a lot of weight since then. I'm 42. My daughter is in 8th grade. I was in the army for a bit over 9 years. I'm in the Pittsburgh area.

Welcome. Semi-active here, doing well with the food, just have serious winter blues at the moment.

Welcome back... I think we are all use to be solitary so we don't know how to lean on anyone else. I don't think this team is very active but I would love to see if it could be. If you need anything just let me know.
