Hi, TWUBBL, I live in New England, USA and have three feet of snow on my lawn. I also have health problems, and signed up for a 5k on SP. Just can't get myself off of the computer chair for 10 minutes consistently. So, I decided to outwit my mind and put a popup timer on my computer that pops up every hour over everything to remind me to get up for 2 minutes. OK, so for two days now I've been getting up every hour and walking around the house for two+ minutes. I've found that dishes get done and other assorted stuff and just those two minutes over the course of the day adds 1 hour of walking.

As for who I am, introduction: I'm Raven. I've been Wiccan for over 50 years. I've participated in Gardnarian, Saex Wicca, Alexandrian, etc. Studied at The School of Wicca (1974), Fordham College for Comparative Religions (16 credits short of BA), and have led at least three covens.

My current book, Serpentine Grove, is free to read on http:wiccan-grove.com. The website has been online at that address since 1997.

But, I'm here to loose weight and find motivation and like minded friends.

Blessed Be All and have a hug full day.

I'm doing well and I can do this. Today I will ....

Hi. I'm back and looking for motivation. I've entered the 5 K in 5 weeks forum. But with my health issues, the horrible weather up here (New England, USA) and the fact that I'm getting ready to hit my 50th birthday, motivation has been a little scarce. Is anyone around, doing anything fun?

HI! I'm new to this team, but not new to Sparks!!! I've been a Pagan for 10 years, living in a town in the middle of the bible belt, I have a hard time finding a place where I can be myself. Hopefully this place works. I've working on losing weight for years, but life gets in the way. And I get back to the where I was. Maybe since life has straighten out and drama free, I will be able to lose it.

I can do it. I can do anything.

I'm back to spark people for the structure and new to this team. I need to devote energy to solving serious health issues with like minded people. I observe the wheel of the year and philosophically tend toward eastern thought.

Hello, all!

I was really active in SP a while back, then life got in the way. I believe I'd introduced myself on this forum before, but since I'm starting anew and there are some faces here I don't recognize any more, I thought I'd re-introduce myself and get more active in this group!

I will be 30 this month and I have 50ish pounds to lose. I'm working on getting past a BIG plateau right now, and I think I've made the appropriate changes to bust through it -- I'm just waiting for Monday's weigh-in for the first results of that change.

I live in California, where we've been in a drought for about 4 years now, and just had a week of heavy rain. I am SO thankful to finally see that rain! But I know that it isn't enough to replenish all that was lost during those years of drought, and the drought still isn't officially over. We'd have to see non-stop rain from now to the end of January to even start recovering, which - given that it's sunny today - is not likely. On the up side, the weather has been warm enough that we can get out and do things in nature, even though it's early December, without freezing our butts off.

I'm married, and my husband is also on a weight loss journey with me, though he doesn't use SP. We both use MyFitnessPal, but I like the groups on SP and the support they provide. :)

Anyway, I look forward to getting involved with everyone again! Good luck to you!

Hi! I'm new here. I've been doing a lot of stress-eating lately and have put on 7 lbs in the past 6 months. My 90-year-old mom who lived with me died, then within a month I had bought a house, then moved. It seems like I do nothing but eat! Well, my birthday rolled around...Nov 2 (the Day of the Dead!)...and I took a long look at myself and decided I want to feel good in my own skin again. To quote my mom, I need to "tie a knot in my neck" and stop stuffing my face with food without even thinking! So anyway, here I am, and I'm looking forward to a fresh start! Nice to meet you all. Namaste.

Hey there. IDK if i ever introduced myself on here. I've been away from SP for... I don't even know. A long time.
I have watched my weight creep up over the past few years. I am officially at my highest high.
:(
I really need people who I can chat with and relate to who don't judge me.
I'm a yoga, hoop and belly dance teacher. My life goal is to motivate people (especially women) to live the life they want now at this size, in this body.
But that doesn't mean that I don't want to get my health in order before it's too late!
I'm interested in making some new and active SP friends.
Namaste :)

Hello! This is a format used in my local group, and forgive me for being lazy, but a lot of typing went into this one, so I copied it! And I should say that I am not exactly Pagan, but am learning about it, as it seems to fit my beliefs more than anything else does. I have a friend who is Pagan, and I've learned a lot of the basics from her, but my mind needs to know more "details" before I can claim it as my own...so I bought books, several of them! However, my chemo brain doesn't retain much after the first couple pages, so it's been a slow process! I learn better in bits and pieces, I guess. But nonetheless, I am learning. Can't wait to learn more!

So, here is me:
Name: Angie
Age: 45
Birthday: May 21st
Occupation: Currently "Medically Retired" (a nicer way to say disabled), Formerly I was an accounting / office manager / systems implementation and design guru
Location: Vancouver, WA
Married?: Yes, DH Brad, since 2006
Kids?: Yes, 2 - 21 y/o son, 12 y/o daughter, and 3 step boys from 22 to 32
Hobbies: Crime dramas, crafting, scrapbooking, sewing, decorating, bargain hunting, repurposing and recycling, camping

Favorites.....

Food: Thai
Local Restaurant: Actually looking for a fav restaurant
Part of Vancouver: Felida
Actor/Actress: hmmm, not really my thing
Place to shop for clothing: Now...nowhere. When I can walk into a store and have things actually fit, Macy's, Old Navy, TJ Maxx, Ross, but most of all, locally owned small boutiques (when I can afford to!)
Place to shop for groceries: Winco/Costco
Exercise: Dancing, Walking the dog
Outdoor Activity: Camping
Indoor Activity: Crafting
Holiday: Halloween
Color: Green
Word: Awesome
Quote: Will have to think on that one....

Short Essay Questions ...

Why did you join Sparkpeople?
To track my weight loss, exercise and water intake, to get motivation from others, for the access to tools to aid in all of the above, and hopefully meet like minded people close to home

How do you plan to accomplish your goals?
Still figuring that one out! But some of what I have come up with are: joining SparkPeople, I have eliminated soda (quite awhile ago now), I quit smoking cigarettes March 2013, trying to eliminate sugar, I beat cancer emoticon , and now I'm working on diet and exercise.

What is the best way your fellow team members can give support?
Share your own experiences and participate! I know personally, the things that are going to get me out and about doing more is a) someone to go with and b) positive energy, whether that be posts on here or in person, it is an absolute must! OH - and don't judge! Not everyone is perfect :)

What makes you unique?
Oh my gosh. I guess it's overcoming adversity and coming out the other side with my positive attitude and sense of humor intact! It hasn't always been this way though. I have had struggles of some sort or another my whole life (the kind that people say, OMG! You should write a book!...um, no thank you! lol), and I was not the happiest person to be around for a very long time. It was something I strived for all my life. I got myself into counselling when I was 16 for that very reason. But it wasn't until I was in my 20's when I had the pleasure of meeting lady who seemed to be always happy, even when not so happy things were happening around her. She was a 'look at the bright side" and "see the silver lining" kind of person. And from there on out, I worked super hard to become that kind of person myself. It took a really long time, years in fact, but one day, I realized that I was way closer to being that person than I was at being "the old me". And I liked it! And I've continued to make a conscious effort to do so since then. That is the main thing I attribute to my ability to beat cancer with a smile (and a one finger salute emoticon ). That, and my amazing, supportive, awesome husband!

Greetings everyone, my name is Miecole I am 23 years young and going to college. I think it is wonderful that there is a team where I can feel comfortable with who I am and be able to ask questions with out sounding mad as a hatter. I have been off and on of spark people for the last few years and every time I am on here I do better then I did before. I think this is going to turn into a great new beginning with this group and thank you all being welcoming.

JUST DO IT!

Hi, this is my second time around with SP and also I am a new pagan. I am curious to learn all things pagan as well as lose weight. I think that I've been so disconnected from my true self that I am totally unbalanced. The fat I've been holding is a manifestation of me stuffing down the me that wants to connect with the Goddess/God and Earth. I hope we can all encourage and support one another. Feel free to add me as a friend. I look forward beginning this journey with like minded individuals. emoticon

I have been away for sometime, but decided to add this to my journey! It is always nice to meet new people along the way. I started my journey last year on my birthday , it was about learning to love myself as I am and to do things for myself. Now I want to be healthy no matter my size, so this is a great place to start! This time around there is no scale only healthy choices , I do not want to be a number anymore. Bright Blessings to all!

Hi! I'm Lookingpast. Not new to SP, been here over 4 years. Was a member of Pagans Balancing. . . but seems that group is now inactive, so here I am! I joined SP at a weight of 271 pounds and am now down to 210....it's been a long and rambling road, as the song goes, but at age 65 I need to get serious about something. I'm going to have to have knee replacements on both sides as I'm bone on bone (very painful) but I keep putting it off for financial reasons. In the meantime, I've started doing water exercise 3 or more times a week (60 minutes each) and just love it! Not only am I stronger, but my mood is much better and I have much more energy.

As for being a pagan, when I started studying wicca, I realized I wasn't learning anything new--just remembering things I'd always known. I'm sure I'm not the only one here with that experience, either. If I had to classify myself, I'd say I'm a solitary pagan wiccan but when I come out to people (and I do), I always begin with, "I'm not a Christian."

Let's see--I love fabric and sewing and make all my own clothes as much as possible (Including bras and swimwear). I teach garment sewing at a local quilt shop. I am a voracious reader and have played with writing fiction. I live with my DH (severe type II diabetes), 6 cats, a cockatiel, a good friend and her daughter, and their Aussie Shepard. It makes for a lively household. My son and his wife live in Phoenix and everytime I drive out to visit them my van breaks down in New Mexico--i think it's trying to tell me something!

Merry Meet everyone!

Hi there!! I've been battling obesity since I was 4 years old, and I'm currently at the highest weight of my life. I've been yo-yoing between getting healthy and losing motivation for a number of years now, and I'm really sick and tired of it. I'm a size 18-20 and want to go back to my favourite size, 8.

Welcome! I have been on this journey for 14 years now, and on SP a little over 8 years. It is definitely a healthy lifestyle change, and I find myself often yo-yoing between getting healthy and falling off the wagon. I am now wanting to lose the last 30 lbs (and possibly more). My body seems to want to fight going below a size 12.

Good Luck on your fitness and healthy lifestyle journey and definitely look forward to chatting with you more!

Hello,

I am new to the team, just joined today. I have been a member of SP for 8 years now, but not active on the site the entire time. The reason I have recommited to SP and to joining some new groups is because I have repeatedly fallen off the wagon and thought if I interact with people more often, that will lead to better success. Plus, it never hurts to be around like minded people!! :-)

Anyways, I hope to get to know some of you better and hopefully find and give support. Cant wait to talk to you all soon.

I am in my 50's and hoping to finally stick to my goal of losing weight through exercising regularly and eating healthy (my problem tends to be portion control!). I have been with spark on and off for years and have found I need the program, it makes it easier to be accountable right or wrong! So hello and good luck to everyone on their healthy journey. ;0)

Evening. I'm a married, mid 40's, mother of one adult child. I've practiced a personal eclectic form of paganism privately for more than 20 years now. I just moved to another area so I thought I'd touch base online, network a bit if possible.

Hello Everyone!
I am new to the forum, and fairly new to the path. I am 40 years old and I have survived CIDP and I am a fibromyalgia warrior! I suffered paralysis when my CIDP was most active and although I am walking now I do so with some limitations. The fact I was sedentary for a year and was on prednisone contributed to a 100 lb weight gain. I have lost some of the weight but I have 70lbs to go.

I am looking for like minded people to keep me on track towards my goals. I am so happy to have found this forum!

Blessed Be!

Hello everyone!
I'm 23, from NY. I've had a sparkpeople account in the past, but I kind of drifted from it, and still ended losing the 50lbs I was looking to lose. This past winter I gained quite a bit, and I rejoined to get back on track, and stay on it. I decided to try to maintain at 130, and focus on building muscle, and becoming more passionate about yoga. I'm not 100% happy with my body, but I know it's more about toning up than just losing more weight. It's better than it was, and it'll keep getting better.

Hello! I'm 45, and have just recently given up on getting the gastric sleeve. It's too long of a story, but my daughters have told me that they will support me and encourage me doing this on my own. Right now I have a terrible spring head cold, so I'm not being all that enthusiastic about getting started. But I will get there. I've been on Spark People off and on for ages, and never really taken it seriously. But I'm an RN and working towards being a nurse practitioner, and I really want to be a good example to my patients...plus I'm just tired of hurting. I feel like I'm 85 rather than 45!

Hope to meet lots of people here.

Hi
My name is Laura and I'm a 35 year old therapist, wife and mother to a beautiful 8 year old boy. I don't ever remember a time when I felt comfortable with my body (well, perhaps prior to puberty, I suppose), but like many a facebook meme says, I wish I were as "fat" as I was the first time I thought I was fat. In high school, I had poor self esteem, but was at a healthy weight. My mother died when I was 17, likely from complications related to her weight. For my entire life she was either dieting or eating all the Hostess cupcakes she could get her hands on. She also smoked 1 1/2 packs of cigarettes daily. I quit smoking a few times, but quit permanently 8 years ago. I lost 50 pounds 2 years ago, grew complacent and have gained 55 back. My mother was 47 when she died and I do NOT want to follow in her footsteps. I'm here to lose that 50 pounds again, keep going, lose another 50 pounds (or close to it) and live long enough to embarrass my grandchildren and babysit my great grandchildren.

Hi everyone! I'm pursuing a pagan path and lifestyle. I'm still learning, and haven't decided which is the best path for me, but I'm sure I'm on the right track! I generally struggle with my weight and eating correctly, but I'm trying to rectify that.

I tend to go by Elleyena or Elley online, so if you see this name elsewhere (or it's counterpart: Elleyena Rose) that's probably me! I'm a Disney fan, and like playing games with friends.

I'm looking forward to getting to know y'all and learning from those who are willing to teach :)

Nice to meet all of you, I just turned 50 and spent most of my life living in pain, both physical and emotional pain. I spent most of my life self medicating, and that is now a thing of the past. I have finally been diagnosed with lumbar arthritis, DDD, spinal stenois, bone spurs on my lumbar vertebra, depression and panic attack. Today I gave myself a huge pat on the back I walked in and join the YMCA for the first time in my life. I had never even saw the inside of a gym. I learned how to use the treadmill, enjoyed the warm pool, then took a nice long hot shower before leaving. I am already hooked, I felt so amazing when I came out. So I meet my first challenge, walking in the door! I know that seems silly for most but for me that was a big step. I am currently on a lot of narcotic meds for the pain and nerve damage, as well as nerves in general. I set my goal small to loose 10 lbs, but I am working my way up to walking my 1st ever 5k May 31st, I signed up to do the local color run. My life finally has color again, after a very dark time. I lost my 23 yr old son a few yrs back in a car accident and my life has not and never will be the same. So my new motto is MOVE IT OR LOOSE IT. I'm so scared I will not be able to walk in the future, I want to keep my freedom and what health I have, and maybe just maybe become even more healthier. feel free to friend me, etc. looking forward to getting to know everyone... oh a little else about me, I am a very spiritual person, pagan, Taoist nature lover at heart, I also love yoga!

Hi, guys! I'm Robin and I've been very involved in the pagan community for a number of years. In the last year or two I have moved back more into the interfaith movement and I love it! I am a grandmother raising 4 grandchildren and determined to stay as healthy as I can as long as I can! My goal is to make the 100 year (and still be playing!). I've been a member of Spark People for several years but have been inactive. Due to a recent health "scare" - I'm back and better motivated than ever!

Love, light and blessings,
Robin

Welcome welcome welcome !
All interested parties are welcomed here, and we are glad to have you.
This is the most supportive non-judgemental group of folks I have found in all of SparkPeople ( and that's saying something). My name is Janet and I don't post in groups as often as I should, but I'm always around so if you need anything just shoot me a spark mail.

emoticon Folks! I'm Angie, 32 y/o female from Wales, UK. emoticon
I've been a member of Spark People for a few years now but have only been active for the past 8 or 9 months. I saw this team on an email I got and wanted to check it out.
I am interested in pretty much EVERYTHING when it comes to religion/ philosophy so I thought this would be a great team to join to get to see something a little different than the "mainstream".

Extraordinary people visualize not what is possible or probable,
but rather what is impossible. And by visualizing the impossible,
they begin to see it as possible."

Hi! Not certain I belong here as I am neither Witch nor Wiccan. I am what some call "Goddessian" as I follow the Goddess, although I observe all esbats and include many facets of various Pagan beliefs/practices in observing my own esoteric path.
I am a Crone.....at 71 there's no question of that.....and thoroughly enjoy belonging to SparkPeople and finding my way back to a healthy weight and eating practice.
Be well.....be kind to yourselves.....

Hi folks, I'm Jean. I've been on SP since 2008 but just discovered this group today. I'm in my 50s, live in the San Francisco bay area, and work at UC Berkeley. I'm a laid-back and solitary-ish sort of pagan. I play music, have lots of cats, and grow irises (especially historic iris). Life's been way too busy lately and I've really been missing getting out in nature - have to remedy that!

Hi all! And BB!
I'm Moonie, and I'm here to dust off some flab! LOL!

I'm the VP Of the Southern NH Pagan Pride Project, and I came to SparkPeople to get myself in shape to serve my pagan community with health and vigor. There's a lot of work to do before our event this year, and I decided I need to get myself in order while I'm getting our event in order! I look forward to being a member of the Pagan Place team, lets all GET HEALTHY!

I am a granny that has walked to the beat of a different drum for many years but fought it. As I got older, I finally said to heck with it, I am going to just be me and to heck with what others think or say. It is my life and my heart. There, I found peace and many questions, my quest began. Now I have found many answers and still have questions that lead me down the paths of life that have no boundries other than my heart, which is what I follow daily. I don't have to read a book or listen to man to know what to do cause there is a Higher Power that speaks to my Higher Self and when I get that peaceful feeling in my gut, that is when I know I have found my answer. So life is like a treasure hunt every day, with some days being a day of rest and some being a day of adventure. Then you have the days thrown in their by the choices of others...lol.

I take from several different beliefs but claim no specific religion of dogma...I keep it as simple as possible and that makes life so much easier as there are enough challenges as it is. Sometimes I take one day at a time and when things get rough, I tone it down to one minute at a time. I still have my challenges with health issues but these bodies are not perfect and years of abuse....well I am a believer in karma for sure, but also miracles. So just maybe if healing don't take place at least standstills will. Keeping positive, but real.

Hi Jess. I'm with you on grad school and work pretty much filling up your life. I am doing the same thing right now (MBA and MSL).

My name is Jess and I'm a 28 year old grad student in school for Oriental Medicine. I joined sparkpeople because I want to stay healthy and be a good example for my future patients (and my current clients - I'm currently a massage therapist).

I don't really know what else to put here because my life is school and work. So yeah, hello!

Welcome back. I do know Spark helps keep you going. When my computer died, I wasn't on, well I let life overwhelm me again. Gained about 8 back. I am back on track now though, it is sometimes hard but I am being committed.

Returning to spark people after a long time away and an extra 55 pounds to show for it. I follow the laid back path of green witchcraft, and recently moved to a new house with 10 acres of land to play with... Whenever spring shows up.

I work as an EMT at a very high call volume ambulance company. I just restarted T25 this week and am ready for my transformation to begin.

If anyone needs or would like someone to help keep them accountable and such, I'm looking for the same!
