emoticon back Mary. As I read your thread I thought you still have positive weight loss. I know tracking is the key for me. I was on vacation and not able to track everything and I gained so quick. I hope you stay active, healthy and happy. Sincerely, Julia

Mary, welcome back---come over to the chat---it is aggrevating---but maybe this week the scale will move---mine finally did last week---could be water retention with all this heat.

hi,
I'm not new here just haven't been in a long while. I was on a different page with my a couple others that had the same start up date but lately I'm talking to myself. After posting a summer blues blog some one from this group asked me to come back. So here I am. Lost 40 and gained 20 back. That's my story and it stinks! I need to motivate myself and get my fat fanny moving again. I have been logging cal. for a week again. Did great last week and walked 4 miles 4 times last week but the scale did not show progress. Then this weekend I slipped and now its starting all over again. Story of our lives huh! Well I'm winning and I know what I need to do...stop wishing and work!

Mary emoticon

Great----so glad it is working---for some reasons Spark has hiccups sometimes--a royal pain when it happens.

Okay, lets see if this helps---go to the top to My Trackers---click on Start---on your Start page right below that is a small thing that says email preferences---click on that and check to see what you have clicked on---sometimes Spark resets things that screws up your settings---it helps to unclick everything and then reclick the things you want---don't ask how this happens---kind of a ghost thing that happens to people for no reason at all---maybe you blocked that by accident or it is blocked. See if that helps---if it doesn't, then let me know and I will contact the help desk for you and see if I can get you some help.

Also, you can click on Send a Private Message, then when that screen comes up---click on Go to Inbox---that will take you to your spark mail. Now, if you are talking about just regular email from Spark, post that here and I will tell you some things to try for that.

Go to the top here to the Community column---pick message boards---from there go to the Tech help topic and post for help there as I am not sure what the problem is----usually Spark works in both lower and upper case and does not seem to differentiate those 2. Someone from tech should respond but not always as quick as we would like---but better in the day time for a response. Hope this helps.

Fatfree, how old are your boys? How long has the "long term" relationship been going on?

As far as spelling goes, that's what spell check is for, very few people know how to spell any more so don't worry about it.

Your son and mine must have been brought up by alternative parents, I know EXACTLY what you mean! Welcome! My name is Betsy and I have three young adults. Carolyn is on her own teaching HS at age 26, Steven, age 23, is struggling to find his way and as I type this he is playing amplified electric guitar right above me. It isn't too loud and he is not getting into any trouble so I put up with it. Kathryn, age 20, is still at home as well. She is taking part time classes at our local technical college and she also assists me in my home day care.

They joys of having them all home!! And the QUIET when they leave. Mine are 27, 22 and 19 and they can still bicker, bicker. Add in the son-in-law and it does get noisy! But the married couple already left so we just have the younger 2--and one leaves on 1/11--the other goes 2/6.

I'd love to have one home all the time--any one but JUST one!

Gardee, always seems to be hectic over the holidays. You can do this! For yourself first and so that you have the energy for that new grandbaby---soon she will be hard to keep up with unless you have been active before she gets to that stage.

Mariann, welcome! I just got to visit Williamsburg in October and want to live in one of those houses! Or I could do Mount Vernon--I have the working person clothing! I work at a house built in 1770--teaching kids about the "olden days". Love it!

I have a 27 year old (married 2 years), a 22 yr old who will be going back to MN in Feb for a 3 month internship and a 19 year old sophomore in college--all lovely blue-eyed blonds! And all smart (working on PhD at Stanford, graduated with highest honors in May and 4.0 this last semester in engineering--respectively). (Yes, I will brag!)

Jump in and talk with us! I was at goal--then had Christmas so will be working to get BACK to goal!

Welcome Mariann@! My name is Betsy, I live in Wisconsin and I run a home day care along with my youngest daughter, age 20.She also goes to technical college part time for early childhood education but right now she is just working on her general education requirements. My 23 year old son also lives here but he did attempt to move out once, didn't go so well so he came back. Our 26 year old daughter just left for her own apartment on the border of WI and MN today. She is an overworked HS English teacher but she does love the staff and students at her school. My husband has been teaching for 29 years but this is his 24th in the public schools where he has taught anything from K-grade 2 in a rural school. The first five years he taught locally at our Catholic schools and he hated to leave but we could not afford to raise on our family on the pay they could give.
I look forward to getting to know you on the main chat thread. emoticon

Yes, Williamsburg is beautiful! There is a working fruit and vegetable garden there I just love. It is far enough south of us that the plants are different. I never saw a pomegranate growing before. We like Aromas, the coffee shop there and there is also a downstairs, used book store I am fond of. I don't get there to visit as much as I like, it is 4+ hours from here.

My married son lives near DC. One of his friends works at Mount Vernon, where he gives historical talks in costume and makes Whiskey!

WoW! LECATES...400 cakes? I'm impressed. I used to bake cakes at the last place I worked but they were nothing fancy, just 2 -layers. THIS cake will be the ultimate-special cake after all that practice! It will be a labor of love!

We got a great DIL too, whew!

I couldn't figure out how to reply??? to the note on my SparkPage but thanks for that! Your strawberry tomatoes sound so interesting! I usually grow a few heirlooms and then some standard Romas or Health Kick for cooking and drying. My tomatoes profile picture were some I grew two years ago. emoticon

My youngest goes to William & Mary in VA. He is in his second year. Before he left, I signed myself up for a million projects and volunteer positions, thinking I would be lonely and devastated. Oh my, did I ever regret that...not a moment to myself. Just now, I am winding up all my responsibilities and projects and now I have no excuses not to go to the gym.

MOG--- I have done cakes for 400 people before---been waiting a long time to do it for one of my sons---the older ones are 32 and 31---soon to be a year older--actually, they are getting married on my oldest son's birthday---and neither one of them is married---but we love his fiance---feels like we have a daughter. Will go check out the picture.

Oh gosh, LECATES! You will be busy!

I guess you have your dress and all. Are you the MOB or the MOG?

That's fabulous that you are making the cake. The only thing I made was my wrap and some jeweled satin flowers for on my shoes.

My son got married in October, and we had a beautiful day. I posted a picture of my husband and I if you go to my SparkPage, but it is in the album, not on the main page.

You must be so excited! emoticon

Hi, MaryLou and Denise!! It was my DD1 that got me started on Spark! She wanted to lose weight before her wedding--and I am the one that lost 8 pounds (so my dress fit) and have gone on to lose almost 40 pounds!

I have 3 DDs--one married, one just graduated and on an internship and one sophomore in college. I was SO AFRAID of empty nest and now I love it!

Come chat with us!!

Mary Lou, it would also be great for you to start up a Spark page so that we can send you team and individual goodies---you don't have to put a lot on it---just a simple start up would work if you don't want too much info out there.

Hi everyone! My name is Denise. I am 57 and work in a large grocery store deli. I am around food so its very hard to stay away. We have 4 daughters, the last one just left for college. Its amazing how life is without children in the house. LOL even if they were adults. Congrats on getting your children involved! emoticon

I just thought I should introduce myself. I joined spark a few years ago, but I did not participate much. However, since the beginning of October, I started trackingg my food, and exercising. It's working, I lost 10 pounds! (I should lose 40 more, but it's a start) I have 4 kids. Both of my daughters graduated from college last summer, and they both have jobs!!!! Also, my younger daughter got married in August!! I still have 2 boys, ages 22 and 17 who keep me busy. Last year, my younger son, at age 16, used Spark to lose 55 pounds!!! He has kept the weight off since last summer, and he is still recording his calories on his Spark "app" Shame on me. If my kid can do it, then I should do it... Thanks for listening!
