And it sounds like Tuesday's drive is going to be awful too! Oh well. We will survive! I love that my gym is literally a two-minute drive away. Even on horrible road days, I can still make it there!

I need to focus on the eating more. Been craving cookies and cheesecake. And both were readily available today! Ugh!

How'd the exercise go?

I used to drive through Kuna on my way to work everyday. Yes, Thur. was so bad.
Well, still eating good so I am happy with that. Gonna try to start with some exercise tonight, Lord willing! :-) Just when things were going so smooth I got a few major bumps in the road. Yes life definitely gets in the way! LOL. Have a great day!!

I'm in Kuna so I totally understand! I went in to work late on Thursday. If the freeway is closed, that is a sign for me to stay home! Luckily, I stayed on the road the whole time!

I get it...life gets in the way. Great job with the eating! That's the part I struggle with more than exercise. Now it's the weekend...let's get some rest and then make healthy choices! And maybe figure out what we can do when life gets in the way! LOL!

I am in Nampa ID and it's been a mess driving the last couple of days! Not been working out. Stuff going on right now. No excuses but it seems these things can be obstacles whether I like it or not. Still eating good though. That way, when I do exercise I am not too far off track. Looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow! Have a good day.

Our weather has been cold...highs only in the teens. Our high tomorrow is going to be close to 30!! The trade off? Snow and/or freezing snow tonight. The drive to work is gonna suck! Thank goodness the gym is only a block away!

Back feels a little better today! Didn't make it to the gym. I had to go out 3 times last night in the cold.. brrrr. Was feeling really tired last night so was in bed by 10:30PM and feeling a little sluggish this morning. Hopefully fighting the cold burned up a few calories.. :-)
When I go to the gym I usually do the treadmill. Have a great day!

Sorry about your back. Hope it's better soon.

I'm a shorty too and I carry my weight in my thighs. I've just decided to embrace my legs and call it strong!

Did you make to the gym? What do you do there? Elliptical? Treadmill? Else?

Great idea! I may try 20 jumping jacks! I am a shorty and when I do squats my calves get big...ha. Great job on going to the gym. I actually haven't worked out since last Thur. Don't know if I slept wrong but my back has been bothering me and truthfully, I feel lazy. Going to try and work out tonight! Good luck on those projects and have a great week.

Every time (well, most evey time) I use the facilities, I try to do 20 squats. Up to 220 today! I also try to take a quick loop around the halls before going back to my desk. Today was too busy to do it very oftern, but I did what I could.

This weekend was fantastic! I made candy, did laundry, went to the gym both days and a couple chores. That's it! It was awesome!

This week is going to be rough. Major pressure to fix some major projects and fix them yesterday. I REALLY wanted candy, but took a walk instead. Hope the next few days can be the same...wrt food...not stress! LOL!

Your friend is smart, and that's a great way to get that little bit extra in for sure!
My desk is super close to the "facilities" but I walk downstairs and use the ones there just to get that little bit extra. I had a great weekend. Just a little cleaning done which always makes me happy. Not the cleaning so much as the end result, lol. I bought some new items for my bedroom along with new curtains and love it! Spent time with my family. I have a hard time eating good when they all come hang out but I didn't do too bad. You?

One of my friends sends all of her printouts to the copier downstairs and across the building. Forces her to get up and walk! Also, every time you have to go visit the "facilities" go to one further away. Every little bit helps!

Anything fun planned for the weekend?

Happy Friday! Yes, sedentary is the best way to describe me. I work 40 hrs a week tied to a desk. The only exercise I usually get is walking to the copier. :-) Have a great weekend!

No laughing. I think that's a great idea! I should do more of that. I am sedentary way too much..I have a desk job and have started getting up once an hour to walk around for a couple minutes. I take the stairs too. Has helped the days go by faster!

Very welcome. Yes, a great kind of sore. After my SP workout last night on my 4th day... ok don't laugh.. but I spent my next 30 minutes of cardio in front of the TV watching while jumping around, walking and running in place. During the commercials I climbed up and down my steps...lol. The only one who made fun of me was my teenage son..lol. I wanted to watch some new shows that had season openers but didn't want to skip my 30 minutes. Goofy yes but I feel really good today. Have a great day. Getting closer to the weekend, yippy!!

Sweet! Thank you. I'll have to try it!

Broccoli and cauliflower certainly do help bulk up my meals.

Nice job on working out! It's a good kind of sore, huh?

I love it! I am sore today from doing my 3rd night using the dumb bells on the chair workout but I feel good. I love broccoli and cauliflower and should add it to breakfast! That sounds good. I attached a recipe for a gluten free cream of mushroom soup that might help you. Let me know if it works for you. Have a great day!

I have no room to talk when it comes to "gross" eating habits. I dip my popcorn in salsa. I put broccolli and/or cauliflower with almost every meal, even breakfast. We gotta eat what we like, or why bother, right?

Great job on getting your exercise in!! Your food sounds delicious! Was the cream of mushroom soup gluten free? If so, where did you find it? I haven't found GF cream of anything and would love to use it. I had to abandon a bunch of recipes when we found out my son has Celiac. My MIL did give me a GF recipe book that has recipes I will actually make! Woo hoo!!

Just plain old mustard! LOL. I know, right... lol But, I love it on salad almost better than any salad dressing other than blue cheese. That is about the only gross eating habit I have. :-)
I did my second video last night and I am really sore today. But, I also got in 30 minutes of cardio with weights and a stair stepper. Ate some sauteed chicken with cream of mushroom soup, 1/2 N 1/2 and and some sour cream with a salad. I definitely do better eating gluten free as it doesn't affect my asthma like other stuff. Have a great day!!

Mustard as the dressing?!?! Honey mustard, I hope! LOL!

We've been in the teens, so practically balmy here. And no new snow. The workouts will get easier, I promise!

Doesn't worry about perfection. We had gluten free chicken fingers with tater tots. I had a BUNCH of food! Way over on calories, but all is well. I'm done for the night and have already planned for tomorrow. Baby steps!

Yes, Subway is awesome. They always look at me a little funny when I order a salad with mustard as my dressing, lol.
Ok, I didn't shovel snow... cause it's way too cold at - degrees...brrrr. However, I was happy to start my Jan. Jump Start and I gotta tell you, was so glad that it was only 8 minutes long. Wow, am I out of shape. However, I had a buddy of mine and she is only in her 20's and she was breathing just as hard as me...hee hee. So glad that I started though. I ate way too many calories at dinner last night after I made some beef stroganoff that turned out really good with some left over prime rib rib. I will let you know how tonight goes. Have a great day!!

I do like to go out once in awhile. I have my favorite at Subway for breakfast and I can get a good sandwich at the cafeteria at work.

I like shoveling the snow! It's good exercise and the driveway and sidewalk look so good when I'm done! I really like tasks that use my hands and you can see the results.

Grocery shopping this weekend. Gonna look at a new cookbook for some new recipe ideas and then make my menus for the next two weeks. Then I can make my grocery list. Half the work is in the planning.

Working from home can be tough. When I pack my lunch I am forced to only eat what I brought. It sounds like the little bit of overage on your calorie count was cancelled by all of that exercise. Shoveling snow is a big workout, congratulations! I hate doing that, I get my 13 year old son to do it, hee hee. However, I am very inspired by all the effort for exercise so I might just have to get myself out there on Sat.! I sometimes just leave the office and don't spend more than $2.00 on lunch getting a cheap salad from Wendy's. That way, I feel good about the change of scenery for awhile and I feel like I am eating out at the same time. Have a great day and a wonderful weekend! Keep up the good work.

Today was tough. I was tired and I was hungry. And to top it off, I worked from home so I had lots of food available. At the end of the day, I'm over my calorie range. Not too much over, but over. The good news is that I shoveled the walk twice, went to the gym and climbed stairs once per hour. Oh...and did 20 squats each time I climbed the stairs too.

I want to go out to eat every day for every meal too! We need to figure out how to do that without gaining weight or going broke!

Hi there! Yes, doing good. Eating good just can't seem to work in the exercise. I work all day and then in between my son's after school classes my time seems so limited. I did go by some small dumb bells and a stretch band...so baby steps. Getting there. I would like nothing more than to eat out everyday but find myself heading home to cook since I bought tons of fruit and vegetables, salad, etc. How have you been doing? Anything new?

Polka dotted with food, lol. Two scales might not be a bad idea at home house as well. I stepped on the scale and actually had gained almost 2 lbs... ughh. Well, we will chalk it up to water weight or something. :-) I have not been counting my calories cause that is such a pain even though SP makes it really easy. But, I know that I have been doing way better than normal. So, I will just keep plugging along. You do the same because 3 lbs. is nothing... so long as it doesn't say 3 more next week, right?! LOL. Have a great day.

I don't wear white because it will be polka dotted by the end of the day...polka dotted with food! LOL!

We have two scales in my house. The one I prefer and the one DH prefers. My scale has been steady for about two weeks...too steady! The battery died two days ago and I weighed on DH's scale. That thing told me I gained three pounds!!! Liar! LOL! Actually, it isn't lying, but I liked the other one better! So...back into losing mode...I can do this! And so can you!!

Ha, I hear ya! Yes, 40 lbs is the goal. Friday was payday so the first thing that I did was go buy groceries. Lots of vegetables and fruits! I even bought grapefruit, which I don't normally eat and am enjoying one right now on my lunch hour. :-)
I am starting my exercise routine with SP with the 10 minute video tonight! Had been sick for the last 2 weeks with the flu and feeling so much better.
Heading to work this morning and literally walking out of the door I spilled Green Goodness all over my white shirt evening getting it in my hair! LOL. And, just now at lunch I dropped my hard boiled egg on the floor... geesh this eating healthy is hard. Guarantee you that if I had been eating a donut, I wouldn't have dropped a crumb...lol. Let me know how you are doing! Have a great day.

Okay, you want to lose 40 pounds. What do you plan to do to lose the first five pounds? When are you going to have those first five pounds lost? Be specific! Use the SMART goals (read the SP article if you need a refresher) and tell me what you've got planned. Looking forward to hearing your plans!

I joined Spark in 2009 and just enjoy the articles, posts and recipes! I like being able to hear from people with the same goals, etc. in mind. I would really like to lose the extra weight I have been carrying for years and read somewhere the other day that very few things do we accomplish without some help and motivation from others. Looking for a buddy to do just that. Wishing everyone the best 2012 possible!
