Jerry, welcome to the team and to the site!
I grew up in the Buhl area and now live in Kuna. I agree with you and Ellensun...the motivation is stronger if the desire is to get healthy! Congratulations on making the decision and joining such a great team!
The choices you make today will determine the path that your life will take.
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.
Welcome to the team! My husband and I live up in Hailey, near Sun Valley, with our two children, ages 5 and 8.
Spark People is a great website for information, motivation, commiseration, and celebration! It's great that you are focused on health. I used to be focused on losing weight, but that wasn't very motivating for me. It was the "what I want to get away from" mentality. Now that I'm am focused on being healthy, I am much more motivated to get out and move! I like having the "what I moving toward and accomplishing" mentality.
Best wishes with your journey,

My name is Jerry. I am from Gooding. I am firmly and steadfastly resolved to losing weight because I want to be healthy. I spent six years in the Marine Corps and loved the feeling of being healthy and in-shape. My self-esteem was very high and I was proud of who I was. But, after a divorce and several personal missteps in my life I gave up on me and decided that I didn't care what happened to me. Of late, I have cause for caring about me and what happens to my physically, emotionally, and socially over the long term. I look forward to working with all of you, and am hoping that I can be a source of motivation and support for those who need it. Semper Fidelis!
