Welcome! So glad you made it here!! Yes, be very active on the site. I get my daily dose of motivation here every day. Here's what helps me -
1. Track ALL food & drinks ALWAYS. There are tips on the nutrition tracking site that make this very quick and easy.
2. Burn calories every single day. Walk, run, bike, whatever gets you moving but make it a goal to burn at least 300 calories a day (increase this after a while) no matter what. If you don't feel like it, go through the motions and do it anyway. Use the fitness tracker (also fun and easy to use) on this site.
The key is consistency and what you tell yourself. Don't tell yourself "I'm going to try.." Tell yourself "I'm doing it" You CAN do it!! I can't wait to hear about your progress!!

CFiftyFive,
Track you food and your exercise everyday. It really helps to keep you accountable and makes you realize how many calories you are actually consuming

I am fairly new too. This is week four for me. I have started before then didn't keep it up and now have started again. Honestly, the best advice is to be active on the site. I find motivation from other teams and the articles they have on the site. The recipes they have on Sparkrecipes under the healthy lifestyle tab have been GREAT. All of the ones I have tried anyway. I log in every day and honestly this has replaced a good chunk (not all) of my Facebook time. So actually use this site as it suggests, not just casually every now and then. Be active.

So I just signed up for this website. I've heard a lot of good things about this site. I have been trying to lose weight the past year or two and just have been having a hard time with it. I really miss not carrying around the extra weight. Does anyone have an recommendations on how to start and keep going?
