The live4thetrail account is offline or has been deleted. I do not like seeing that message, so I clicked the link. I'm happy the message is not up there now.

Hi everyone! I'm more of a hiker than a runner, but I hope to speed up this summer, and start running. In 14 months, we will have our documentary out on the most hiked mountain in the USA-Mt. Monadnock. Today I had a great hike with microspikes up that mountain.

Sorry guys about not following through on the group page, sometimes I just don't check in and take care of business. Thank you lives4thetrail for taking over the group. I'll try to be more active but am happy to let you lead.

Speaking of active, I had a really great race this weekend. It was the Montana de Oro 25K trail race on the Central Coast of California. This may be one of the toughest 25K's around. It involves two major ascents. The first is sea level to the top of Valencia Peak, 1247 ft in about 5 miles. Then you come back down to sea level where you begin a second ascent of Hazard Peak, 1027 ft in about 5 miles. Very challenging single track for the most part with some of it very technical involving loose shale on steep climbs.

Turns out they had to re-measure the course after the race because of so many questions about the distance. Sure enough it measured 27K. Seems that the park had done some trail work since the last race and nobody double-checked the distance before the race. So my 4:14 27K turned out to be 3:55 for 25K, and my goal was to break 4 hours so I'll take that! May sound slow to many of you, but don't forget, I am 65 years old.

Here is a link if you want to check out the map and the elevation profile.

Yup i finally cracked with the message thing. Man that is so annoying lol.

Haven't planned much in the way of races this year but have set myself a few personal goals. That if fall into place will hopefully lead on to a couple of ultra's next year. Just exploring my local neck of the woods and discovering more and more trails and getting lost occasionally.

emoticon

Thanks for the welcome.

Hey! How are you doing?! So, you took the job, eh? That message on the page was starting to annoy me, too. Thank you! LOL! What trail adventures do you have on your calendar for this year?
