Kamel, I love your story about taking the daycare kids for a walk. You're teaching them healthy behavior by words and actions - that's wonderful! We need more people like you, so that our next generation won't be as overweight as we are! If my husband and I ever have children, I want them to grow up with healthy habits, and not just me saying "go play outside, eat your vegetables" but doing it with them, showing them how important I think it is. Thanks for that moment of inspiration!
I too am limited to what I can do for exercise, as I have fibromyalgia, osteo and rheumatoid arthritis and degenerative disc disease. I walked with a cane for quite some time until I had arthroscopic knee surgery a couple of years ago and that helped quite a bit. I used to need 2 canes to walk up stairs and now I don't use any, thank God. Time will tell if the arthritis in my knees will take its toll to where I will need replacements. I really have lost quite a bit of weight eating healthy using the foods from Aldi's - their produce can't be beat! I make stir fry's using the boneless chicken breast and their fresh onions and red and yellow peppers with minced garlic(in olive oil) - so delicious and good for you. Sometimes I use the frozen baby green beans and partially cook them in the microwave first and then add some of the unsalted Fit & Active Unsalted Almonds to the stir fry to let them brown. YUM! I'd love to have yours or anybody else's ideas for stir fry's or other easy dinners they've come up with from ingredients from Aldi's.

Welcome unsure...very glad that you've joined us. We've been a little quiet lately, and new people tend to get conversations going again.

I admire you're stick-to-it'veness (okay, I know thats not a word) and your determination to keep on moving.
This morning I took 4 daycare children for a walk and one of them asked me why we always go walking. I told him that it will help to keep me from getting old...his response was that I am old. lol I told him I don't want my body to feel old and walking is good for my heart....and their hearts too. He liked that. I'm going to remember that conversation for a long time. Oh and of course to a 5 year old I am old, but I sure don't feel it!

I do a lot of my shopping at aldi. New to your team so I will tell you a little about me. I am a wife and mother, and Grandma, been on sparkpeople for a while. I am limited to what and now much I can do for I walk with a cane. I have be drinking my water and eating my fruit and veggie, up to 6 a day three of each. Walk 20 min. Each day and strenth for my arms and legs. I also work on staying positive 7/24. and encouraging people every day 2-3 people a day. Read my page and if you still want to know ask?
