You're from Austintown? How cool! I'm from Akron, but lived in Youngstown for awhile. Now living in Alabama, and I love shopping at Save A Lot because, as you said, everything is sooo expensive elsewhere! Welcome to the team!!

OMG!! There's even a sparkteam for Aldi's!! LOL!! I LOVE Aldi's! Even more...I love $aving money! I live in Missouri. and actually work in another grocery store(buy a few things there that I can't get at aldi's)...but would have to pay double there for what I do at Aldi's! I just use empty boxes from the store to pack my food in...or bring my own bags from home.
Even better...I have a roommate & we split the grocery bill!

I don't view the quarter in the cart as a "fee" -- after all, you get it back when you put the chain back on the cart. :) Not giving away bags is one way they cut costs and keep their overhead low so they can pass the savings on to you. That's what keeps the food so cheap. ;)
I would suggest to buy some cloth bags from Save-A-Lot, they are larger than most cloth bags from the other retail stores plus they are nice and sturdy, for only a dollar. You can hold a lot in them. Every time we go to Save-A-Lot we are going to buy a cloth bag until we have a fleet of them. :P
Hello! I'm wife to Chris_Kewl and I was also the one who introduced SP to him. :)
Aldi's has been always a staple for us for a while - I love how cheap Aldi's & SAL can be! A Save-A-Lot store just opened right by us so we're really lucky since the closest one is 30 minutes away and I never had a chance to go to Aldi's and Save-A-Lot until I married Chris. He grew up with those stores so he introduced them to me. :)
June, the Save-A-Lot by us charge for bags so we had to bring ours - luckily, carts are rent-free. ;) Though I do always keep a quarter in our car just in case.
You can do anything that you put your mind to, regardless of your shortcomings.
Hi all!! I used to shop at Aldi when I lived in Ohio, but since moving to Alabama, there are no Aldi here. But I did find Save A Lot, which is similar to Aldi but no cart rental and no charge for bags. If you take your own bags to Aldi, that will save you bag charge. At least that is how it used to work. Good luck, and enjoy!

hey all my name is Jackie and I am new to Aldi. I have seen the store in my neighborhood for quite a while but never went in. I was on SP one day and saw a post about going there to save money. I decided to check it out and I was pleasantly pleased! The prices were definitely cheaper and the quality was just as good if not better.
I was a bit thrown off by the 25 cent cart rental fee and fee for bags but it was ok. Can't wait to see what is on sale next week!
