assaalamu alaik kum carla.first alhamdullah and congratulations on becoming muslim,may allah reward you for your choice inshallah.i hear you loud and clear over the exercise i was the same when i joined islam especially with the swimming asd prior to islam i used to swim 3 miles every day some times more.infact i had picked my flat as it was only two minutes away from the swim baths lol.you could look around near you to see if there is a womens only bathing inthe near from you.most swim baths do that at least once a week same with aqua aroebics you could easily find an all womans class.then a t-shirt and bicycle shorts will do for covering as recomended in islam when with other women.re zamba there are lots of zumba dvd´s out there you can work to at home even a zumba programme for the wii if you have one.you could also look in your area maybe there is another zumba class or equvulant with a women instructure.or like a group of women around me they have set up their own exercise group and use the local community centre for a free room.also there are lots of other exercises you can do out there wearing jogging hoses etc.biking,running,jogging,nordic walking.even though istill miss my swimming everyday i go swimming when i can and so look forward to going to visit my husband´s family every year in tunisia so i can go swimming i even have had an islamic swimming costumn made for me.and can swim several times aday.you have heard of the saying where there is a will there is away.inshallah my allah guide you to the exercises you like and can do.assaalamu alaik kum,karima
My name is carla, and i am 23 yrs old, single mom, sparkmember as well as new muslim. it is a little harder to do things that i love to do being muslim, for instance i adore zumba, it is great exercise, it burns so many calories and gives me so much energy. but i abide by the islamic dress guidelines so i feel that i cannot go. when i went i would wear a pair of running capris (not too tight) and an excercise shirt with a long baggy tee over it. there is only one male at the zumba class and it is the instructor, i want to go back so bad, i used to go three times a week but i cant do it in those clothes cause it is considered inappropriate. as well as running and swimming,i swim and run in about the same things i would wear to zumba. please help sisters cause i am missing my favorite exercises. and it is making me back track even worse. im not sure what to do about that with that out of the way i am a new muslim and would love to make new friends that can support me while i can support them. any tips and hints and support is greatly appreciated as well as i will support and help and share tips than i know. I hope everyone is well!!!
