Sounds like some very serious goals. I bet you didn't stay a newbie for long! I travel with a group, all of whom are a bit older (me, too), and we more or less keep one another company, chatting along the way, waving to all the cyclists who buzz past us, in either direction, and purely enjoying the scenery around and above us. No one joined on this post for a few years. Maybe it's a dead issue..
I'm sort of a newbie cyclist as I've only been riding hard for about 3 months. I commute to the office every day and then try and do a few larger rides (25 to 30 miles) during the week. I hope to ride between 80 and 100 miles per week and I also have a short term goal of being able to average 19 mph over a 30 mile route. The weather just turned really nice here in Western KY after some brutal heat. So, it's time to ride!!
