I am just starting to play with watercolors...mostly pen an ink and pencil up till now....and a lot of woodcarving. I also do crochet, Yupik indian bead work, tat, and some knitting.
I was recently diagnosed with mysathenia gravis...and I am real bummed about the high dose of prednisone I will have to start on in January. I gained a lot of weight on prednisone 2 years ago messing on and off with a bad knee. So I don't have lupus...I am so sorry that you have to have it....and I am really impressed you can turn it around to a positive force in your life...I have been really down about my situation... I can't seem to reach that positive outlook quite yet. You are an inspiration to me. Thank you.
have lost only 3 pounds...but found out today that I lost 4" off the waist??!! How can this be? But happy to take it!
I am also a watercolor artist. Have uploaded you work to the photos section? It would be great to see what you have been doing.
In addition to working on paintings in my house I go outside and paint (with a group) in a park every Saturday morning. It has been good for me to draw and paint directly from nature. Uses different mental muscles.

I have always loved water color, and have made a few false starts trying to teach myself to paint from books and youtube videos...more recently I have framed a few and hung them on the wall. I like architectural renderings, when they are non traditional. But am starting with books that take you back to the beginning and learn classical watercolor so you have a basis to build on.
Painting keeps me busy and out of harms way, but it also keeps me sitting down, just like the computer.
So I am balancing household chores, eating paleo, and all that entails. exercising t-tapp, posting on sparkpeople, knitting, and reading.
Wishing you the best, ArtSeeOne. I have not been diagnosed with lupus, but the doctors seem to always been testing me. I'm photosensitive and allergic to sunscreens, so I stay indoors a lot, too. So hard to make myself exercise. I've been playing around with watercolors lately for pages for my handmade books. It's certainly not as easy as it looks on the videos! Your watercolors are absolutely spectacular!

Hi everyone, Great to be here! I am a watercolor artist having a blast. Actually I have lupus and my life became limited. I have always loved arts and crafts. 3 1/2 years ago I started painting seriously and haven't stopped. So in a way lupus has been a blessing because I wouldn't have slowed down and taken the time to paint. I do my own photoshoots for my art so I love photography as well. But I am here because I could get much better photos if I lose a bit of weight! Years on and off steroids for the lupus have contributed to the problem as well as not being able to get out in the sun and go for walks. I am very hopeful for the year ahead.
