I love the banana with peanut butter in a tortilla. My friend introduced those to me years ago, she called it a monkey wrap. I also like to add smashed corn flakes or chex cereal for some crunch. Never tried it with honey, hmmm I haven't had my snack today:)

If you can resist the temptation to order other items from the menu, McDonalds' smoothies (small size - only 210-220 calories, depending on what you order) are AMAZING! I love the mango/pineapple; it's my late afternoon snack, I usually pick one up in the drive-thru on my way to pick up my little man from the sitter's! Loads of vitamins, it's a delicious pick-me-up.

I was really frustrated about what to eat for dinner 2 nights ago as my ever-expanding husband announced he was having Taco Blergh (Bell) with my younger son and the elder son had already eaten at work. I hadn't shopped yet so only had basics about. I ended up baking a chicken breast sprinkled with garlic powder, a dash of salt, pepper and oregano in the toaster oven (on non-stick aluminum foil for easy clean up) and while it baked, I sauteed a cup of spinach and one diced medium sized beefsteak tomato in 1 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil and 1/2 tsp of minced garlic, a dash of salt, black pepper, oregano, with a few shakes of crushed red pepper. The spinach/tomato mixture was a bit on the hot side, but I like that, and surprisingly, tasted a tad sweet, too. I spooned the mixture over the chicken and it was delicious!

Btw, spinach is not only a great source of nutrients, but also fantastic for your skin!

My new favorite lunch when I have to pack for work: 1 md. microwaved baked potato and 1 box of green giant brocolli or cauliflower with zesty cheese sauce (the zesty has less fat) so much fiber you are full til the end of your shift! The veg w/sauce is only 1 WW point per serving if you track that way. Add a piece of fruit and a big glass of water, lovely.

Fruit Smoothies!!!
Plain yogurt and milk, maybe some vanilla or protein powder. I love frozen mixed berries, frozen banana and peanut butter, or frozen banana and orange juice.
If I'm lucky I accidentally make it super thick and eat it with a spoon like sorbet. Oh so yummy. :)

I have a really good meal to share with you all... I made it for dinner last night and it tasted SINFULLY good, but it was SOOOO good for you!! I got it from Special K.... Here it is:

Pork Chop with Pomegranate Glaze

1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 boneless pork loin chop, cut about 1 inch thick
1/4 cup Pomegranate juice
1 teaspoon sugar
2 teaspoons sliced green onions

Directions
1. In small bowl stir together salt, cinnamon and pepper. Rub on both sides of pork chop.

2. In small nonstick skillet coated with cooking spray cook pork chop over medium heat for 7 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned and nearly done, turning once. Remove from skillet. Keep warm.

3. In same skillet combine pomegranate juice and sugar. Bring to boiling. Boil, uncovered, for 2 to 3 minutes or until mixture is reduced to half. Return pork chop to skillet. Cook, uncovered, about 1 minute more or until sauce thickens slightly and pork chop is done. Transfer to serving plate. Sprinkle with onions.

FYI: This is for ONE pork loin, if you want 2 you need to double, 3 you need to triple, etc.....

I've been making sushi rolls, less the sushi (the term sushi actually refers to the rice not the other items) so they aren't really sashimi. I buy my tuna and other fish directly from the fishmonger right out of the harbor so I'm not too worried about freshness.

I use nori, avocado, cucumber, fish, and an oz cream cheese if I'm feeling decadent. Wet down the nori (to make it easier to roll), make a large strip of filling, placing it towards the end closest to me, then roll it up as tightly as possible. Cut and serve

Sometimes instead of raw fish I will used boiled crab or tiger shrimp. Works really well and doesn't have the calorie count of reg sushi.

For a healthy breakfast I like to have a Dannon Lite and Fit Strawberry Banana Smoothie, and I munch on Cinnamon Life cereal.

For a snack or as part of my lunch, I love to have avacado with a little bit of sea salt, and sometimes I add a tablespoon of honey dijon dressing on it.

Another snack that I love are the kraft cheese cubes and an apple. I don't know what it is about sharp cheddar cheese and a crunchy apple that goes so well together.

I have a zillion more little yummy things that I do but I guess I'll leave it at this for now.

Becca=)

My favourite breakfest is toasted tomato and cuccumber sandwhiches.

I use the Weight watchers bread, 1 tbsp of light mayo and stck it with cuccumber slices and tomaot slices, a sprinkle of sea salt and pepper.

I can switch it up throughout the weeks to by using just cuccumber some day and just tomato others.

Every week I make this soup that seems to help me keep on track. I take 1 small green cabbage, 3 cans of vegetables (your choice), 2 small cans of tomato sauce, and a packet of stew seasoning. I try to make sure that the veggies I add are 2 very healthy and one carb (pinto beans, hominy, whatever) to keep it balanced. This soup can be stored in the fridge for a week or so. Microwave a bowl, add some parmesan cheese if you want! I also sometimes add a small can of green chilies to spice it up a bit. Experiment with your spices!

Enjoy!emoticon

If you want a low fat high protein sandwich, tuna fish and salsa with a tiny bit of mayo tastes great open faced on toasted whole wheat with melted slice of swiss cheese. It's not only great for you but tastes good too. I also love steamed broccoli with salt and pepper and then I use the water to boil whole wheat pasta so that all the vitamins get used up. I sprinkle a little spices, salt and pepper and a tiny bit of olive oil and it's filling and nutritious.

Easy and kids love it to. We buy the pre-packaged Edmame from Costco - zap it in the microwave and add a bit of salt. Healthy soy beans and it takes some work to get those little suckers out of their shells so it's hard to overeat!

One of our favorites is shrimp ceviche. It's perfect for guests because it is so easy and makes a lot!

Recipe:
2 medium size cartons of Pico De Gallo
1 large bag of shrimp (your choice of shell on or shell off... I can't taste the difference)
3 limes
2 lemons
1 avocado
A couple of pinches of garlic salt

Pour Pico De Gallo in a large bowl. Boil shrimp for about 3 minutes. Drain. Pour shrimp in bowl with PDG. Sqeeze limes and lemons into bowl. Slice avocado and put into the bowl with the rest of the ingredients. Add some garlic salt on top. Garnish with cilantro. Chill in fridge for about 30 minutes.

You can serve this with tortilla chips, blue corn chips, etc. We usually do whole wheat tortillas.

I am a Starbucks Junkie and I recently discovered theire Protein Plate - A hard boiled egg, apple slices, grapes, whole wheat bagel, peanut butter (optional) and a small slice of cheese. The whole thing is around 300 calories. I snack on it after breakfast and lunch and it really helps to keep me filled up. Much cheaper to make your own plate at home.

My favorite snack is cottage cheese and bananas, sometimes I throw a few almonds in it. That's my healthy version of banana pudding lol. I also eat 90 calorie granola bars or the 100 calorie oreo granola bars, that way I can still have my oreos, but less calories and fat than the regular cookie!

My favorite salty snacks are turkey pepperoni slices, a few small cubes of cheese, and whole wheat crackers. Great alone or together!

I also love roasted chickpeas - they remind me of corn nuts (I spice them and they are awesome) but are much healthier!

My favorite sweet snacks are frozen melon chunks or grapes, banana-based fruit smoothies with a splash of skim milk in them, and apples w/ a tiny bit of pb on them

As a meal... hummm..

Salmon brushed lightly with olive oil or canola oil and sprinkled with a garlic and herb mix baked in the oven. Serve with steamed veggies.

Sweet potatoes tossed with olive oil and a garlic herb mix, and browned in the oven until crisp.

Ground turkey(or extra lean ground beef), mixed with a sugar free salsa(I like a medium), formed into patties and grilled, served on a slice of whole grain toast. mmmm...

Black beans, with brown rice, salsa, tomatoes, and a small dollop of organic sour cream(lite).

Baby spinach tossed together with sunflower seeds and orange sections(or cut up berries) with a raspberry vinegrette or organic vanilla yogurt.

Chef salad

There's more. I'm still experimenting..lol

I like apple with some kind of nut or seed butter. I get organic natural, meaning nothing but the ground up organic nuts.

Or an orange or other fruit with 10 to 12 almonds.

I love fresh berries, very yummy, lots of nutrients and can sooth the sweettooth cravings.

i am a busy mom so i tend to eat easy things i can just grab. fruit, carrots. but i love fiber one bars! i'm always looking for snacks with lots of fiber and a decent amount of protein. by the way, i've been wanting to try soy products, especially milk, but honestly i'm a little apprehensive.....is it good? my daughter and i have slow digestive systems (hence the high fiber snacks and diet we eat) and so i'm wondering if soy would be better for us.....anyone with any advice or good brands let me know! thanks!

Hi, just read the almond receipe, sounds yummy will be making that.
I try to snack on fruit, nuts and carrot sticks with hummus when i feel the need for food. I also try to drink water as this sometimes helps take the hunger away.

Almonds are high in fat, but the healthy kind. It's important to get some of the good fats in your diet each daya nd you can do this with nuts, nut butters, avocados and olive oil and other healthy oils. Anyway just wanted to point that out becasue alot of people don't realize we do need some fats.

Looking for a healthy snack you can take with you on the go? Look no further — I've got a savory treat for you: Cumin-Roasted Almonds! You can eat them as your scheduled snack, keep them at your desk or in your car to stave off grazing emergencies, or include them as your fat serving (depending on what kind of oxidizer you are — and if you're a slow oxidizer, go easy on these!).
Cumin-Roasted Almonds

58 calories per tablespoon

Ingredients
2 cups whole blanched almonds
2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 300B0F.

2. Place almonds in a baking pan; toss with oil, cumin, salt, and pepper. Bake until lightly toasted, about 25 minutes. Let cool on a wire rack.

Variation: Use curry powder and cayenne pepper in place of cumin and black pepper.

To make ahead: The almonds will keep in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

Cooking Information: Yield: 2 cups
Active time: 5 minutes
Total time: 30 minutes
Ease of preparation: Easy

Nutritional Information: Per tablespoon: 58 calories, 5 g fat (0 g sat, 0 g mono), 0 mg cholesterol, 2 g carbohydrate, 2 g protein, 1 g fiber, 37 mg sodium

Here's a great snack idea that includes your protein, dairy and fruit:

Yogurt, cottage cheese (1/2 c) and fruit (blueberries are great). I use the Dannon Low-Carb Yogurt.

Eat Smart Soy Crisps-They have a decent amount of protein and fiber and you feel like your eating chips without the guilt. Also in the same vein, Pirate's Booty. There not all that nutritious but they are not that caloric either just watch the portion size.

When I need a dose of protein I go with 4 egg whites, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, some leftover chicken I have in the fridge, or the old standby, protein shakes.

How about taking a trip to the Health Food store.. you can buy protein powder and prepare yourself a protein shake every morning, careful because some powders don't taste that well..
I personally love the protein powder by Nutrilite, it is a dietary supplement of soy and milk proteins (they don't add any flovor)and the best part is that it doesn't taste bad AT ALL..!
I actually drnk it with water only cuz I like the taste..!
You can drink it like I do, with a shake or even add it to the food that you cook, t hat way the whole family gets the protein that they need and not necesarely know it...
If you want to check it out go to www.nutrilite.com and look for the protein powder

Yesterday is history,
Tomorrow is a mystery,
Today is a gift.
That's why it is called the "present".
