Hi, new to this team, here. I keep telling people that I need to gain money and lose weight, instead of the other way around. Hopefully with this site I can achieve both goals.

I celebrated 49 years earlier this week. I have been on a fixed income since my late twenties, as the result of a disability. As prices go up, and my income does not always keep up I find it necessary to watch my expenses very carefully (as we all do these days). I am careful to live within my means, and I have all my necessities. However, sometimes it is necessary, especially if I want something special, to put delayed gratification in place. Sometimes one penny goes where another might be spent.
I am looking forward to learning new ways of saving and budgeting.

Hi, Dyitha - and welcome. Someone recently told me that to set my goal, instead of saying "I want to ... " I should write down, specifically, "I will (so such and such) by (write down the date)." This motivator said my goal was much more likely to be visualized and subsequently reached if I practiced this. I like SparkPeople because that's exactly what happens when you join: they give you a goal date to focus on, and provide that motivation along the way.
