i started back on the protien power plan i tweak it a bit so it works for me. the scale has been all over the place from 135 down to 127 and all the places in between but, i try to just go with it iam putting effort into not stressing and so far it has worked for me, i went back on the diet not because i gained, even when i went off i always had protein so i was about the same as when i lost my focus, i went back to it with determination because i had hibh bp when i had my usuall check up and that scared me i dont wont to be on medication. I quit drinking cola and spirits its made a huge difference this time around, i always felt emotionally out of control when i was carbing it. I never want to go back to that agian and thats what motivates me my outlook is completly different.

Hey Everyone! I'm about to embark on a new adventure with the Dukan Diet; I have decided to try it because my neighbors have been on this eating lifestyle for about 8 mos now, and all I can say is WOW! I have seen significant changes in both of them, weight and fitness. I have a hard time losing weight, plus I'm in Nursing school, have 2 small children and a great husband, HOWEVER, I don't have a good "dieting" support system, so I've decided it's time to seek that out by joining a group with common goals and support in mind. Tired of looking at myself in the mirror and feeling disappointed, tired of trying on clothes and not feeling pretty and confident... emoticon

Hi all-
I have been "lurking" in this forum a while while I was doing the Dukan Diet. I have to admit its not for me. The low fat cheeses and such just weren't satisfying, and having veggies only every other day just doesn't work for me as I am not THAT big a protein eater. I lost about 15 pounds on it but have since but 5 back on.SO, I have decided to try going low carb and see if that helps me.
I'm looking forward to chatting with you all!

Welcome to this team! You will find all the support you need here. Atkins and Slim4life are the only two ways of eating that I can actually lose weight on. They are both very similar - they both are very low carb. I have just started on the Atkins again a few weeks ago.

I am re-starting my low carb lifestyle this week. So far I have done very well this week. I have been to the gym, made my meals for lunches, have been drinking all of my water. Had a sugar craving yesterday, had a 1/2 of a diet root beer to get rid of it. Today is great so far, had a small omelet and lunch will be a lettuce wrap sandwich :)

emoticon Thought I'd better introduce myself, for those that don't know me.
I'm Vicki and I live in Florida.
I'm working towards making the healthiest choices I can when it comes to taking care of myself.
I want to make exercise a top priority as I have a couple of health issues that exercise would improve. Also it would definately give me more energy.
I am basically trying to keep all my nutritional numbers within a set goal I think will work for me. It's not strictly any one specific program. If I had to push it, I'd be more inclined to say it's a lower carb plan.
I'm working to lose about 100 lbs but have no set time to lose it in. I'd love to lose it over the next couple of years, but I tend to be a very slow loser. So I'll take it one pound at a time.

Hi everyone!!!! I am doing the dukan diet which is low, low, low as you can go carbs. I did it last summer and lost about 20 pounds. I gained it all back because of some severe family problems but I am ready to get rid of the pounds for the last time. i am glad i found this site because the Dukan site does not have very much support. If anyone is not familiar with the diet i would be happy to enlighten you!!! Thanks everyone for being here!!!

Hello all! I started Induction 2 days ago and just discovered this forum. I did Atkins years ago and lost weight, but gained it back when I started eating carbs over what I knew was best for me. I tried just counting calories, but that doesn't work for me. I'm looking forward to reading everyone else's ideas and comments to keep me motivated!

HI, y'all. I'm not from the south! Been low carbing for a month. Down 11 # so far. I'm happy with a slow go. I have problems trying to cook. I try to cook once a week so my hubby has some home cooked meat dish to munch. And we have a cafeteria at work that I am supposed to eat at. I mostly eat salad and vegetables there. If the meat is not breaded, I'll have protein too. 2 eggs and sausage patty for b'fast. Nuts if the hungries pull at me. So far I have had one day off...today, our Staff Christmas Party. Ohhh those garlic mashed potatoes! Yummm. No weekly weigh in tomorrow! I'll hold off till next week. Oh and I do Oxycise! for my exercise. At 72 I can't do those huffin' and puffin' DVDs. But Oxycise! gets your heart rate up right away, unlike cardio. Try it. DVD's for all levels.

If the grass looks greener on the other side of the fence it's probably astro turf.

Hi All

I am starting Atkins again. This is my back to square one. I realize this meal plan gives my body the kick start I need to get back on track. I am also preparing my mind by not feeling like I did something wrong. This is all about loving myself and accepts where I am in my life.

I feel strong and postive about this journey I am on.

Hello!

I've been on SparkPeople for a while, usually doing a lowfat diets but now I am on day 4 of induction and WOW! I am so satisfied and energetic!
I am having fun packing my lunches of spinach with chicken salad or tuna salad.
I am drinking a TON of water, but I like it :)
Also.. the scale is saying 3lbs down already.
I think I like this diet :D

Hello everyone.. well I have tried Atkins twice before and failed both times. Lack of knowledge was the issue, not the program itself. I've been off all carbs for the past month.. ok well by that I mean doing atkins levels of carbs, although I have only recently restarted Atkins itself (last week).

I guess if I rough estimate it I'm about day 5 into Induction, although while on the Atkins boards this morning I realized I was getting too many artificial sweetners in on the weekends by drinking three cups of coffee! I have gone back an analyzed my protein/fat/carb percentage and I have been on track for two days. One day and the damn 4oz of cheese really threw off the amount of fats to protein.. hehe..

I'm getting there though.. and loving this diet. Not sure how anyone can call it a diet when you are happily eating healthy... I so don't miss carbs!!

I have about 35-40lbs to go. Have managed to lose 23lbs in the past 3 months.. emoticon

I am starting induction today. I 'tried' doing low carb (Atkins) about 10 years or so ago and never made it through the induction phase ('tried' 3 or more times). I started exercising and eating better about 20 months ago and have taken off 80 lbs, but I have 60 to go and for the last 6-8 months I've been losing and gaining the same 10lbs over and over.

I recently read a bodybuilders blog that was talking about a cyclical ketogenic diet that helped him to cut fat and preserve muscle and as I read through it, I realized it was a modified Atkins diet. I dusted off my Atkins info and realized it was just what I should be doing for myself.

Over the last couple years, I've gained enough self motivation, self control, strength, and willingness to ask for and accept help when I need it, that I know I can make it through induction this time. It also helps that my 12 year old daughter has joined me on my fitness/health quest, the support (and occasional nagging) helps me, also the fact that she watches every thing i eat and do helps keep me on the straight and narrow emoticon

What will be most difficult is that I am now having to move from a nearly vegetarian mentality to meat/fat/low carb mentality. My first instinct now is to shun the red meat and pick up a bean something or other LOL so this will be interesting to have to learn to zig instead of zag on my food choices now.

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.

I am new to the board but semi-familiar with Atkins plans. I've lost weight with it in the past but found it hard to get my family involved. I was working out quite a bit (biking, swimming, triathlons) so I generally was able to keep weight off.

Well, this past year has been full of illness and injury and I just haven't been able to work out. Result - weight gain and bloating.

So, I'm back to Atkins. I'm actually past Induction but I think I need to revisit it after my family vacation this month. That brought me back up two pounds!

My next problem, post Induction, will be trying to find a bread recipe (I like to bake my own) that the rest of my family would like. I'd be very receptive to recipe ideas for families.

Also, how do you deal with the negative feedback from Sparkpeople's "end of day" message? Mine is always giving me grief about my choices!

Thanks Xana! :)

I'm on day three...down 5lbs, which on my ticker was still a gain from the last weigh in.

More moto to stay on track and keep going!

I love carbs...not so much sugar, but pasta and bread. I always over eat that stuff when I eat it. But last time when I was down to 138, I had so much muscle I could eat that stuff, and I would just burn it off like nothing. But, now that I'm back up so much...it's time to cut that stuff out!
I think you have to find what works for you, and a balance. Like sub white stuff for whole wheat stuff!

Hope everyone is having a great Wed! :)

With GOD All things are possible!!! :)

I'm starting atkins again too. I just came from weight watchers and could not lose anything on the new points plus plan. I lost 32 lbs over 3 years on the momentum program. I have 20 lbs to lose to get to my goal weight. I'm not looking for a quick fix. I'm not hungry all the time like I was with weight watchers. I just can't eat all that fruit, bread, pasta etc... I have a family history of diabeties so I think staying away from carbs is the way to go for me. emoticon

So far soo good! Night's are the worse, but I know I can do this! Speaking of which...I better make my sugar free jello so it's done by desert time!

Check out the 'starting induction! who's with me?' thread in the general team discussion forum. A couple people just started last week - I'm in week 2 of OWL - again emoticon

Hi Everyone! So I'm starting Atkins again...I think I'm goign to start tomorrow morning. I was thinking of the new diet...that dukan diet. But, I think to start I'll just stick with what I know! The thing that hard with me is that I need to hear and be able to stay in contact with people that are doing the same as me. Cause those cravings are killer! But, I have my 10 year coming up in 2 months...and when I didn atkins before with working out. I lost 20lbs a month! So anything close to that...even 5 and I would be happy! Is they're anyone else just starting?
Hope everyone had a great weekend! Here's to starting the atkins again! :) But, I think I'm going to check that dukan diet out more too! ;-P
