I didn't know that they made a velcro type closure. Thanks for the information. I buy my clamp separate since I don't like the kind that comes with the box.

God bless you and hold you in the palm of his hand!

Yep, mine is permanent also. I use convex, but two piece with the velcro type closure instead of clamps, since the clamps jab my leg.

Maintaining.

Hi NellieC. I also have an ileostomy. I am a permanent. I use Convatec Active Life 1 piece appliance. I have lots of skin issues and have to use durahesive, convex type pouch. I find the wear time in cooler weather is about 7 days and 4 to 5 days in hot weather. I don't have much difficulty normally with it staying on even when I take a bath. Glad to hear they caught it before it became full blown cancer. emoticon emoticon

Hi, I am new on the team. Almost a decade ago, I ended up with a colostomy after an emergency operation since I was totally blocked. About 3 years later I had a colostomy takedown since I had a persistent ulcer under the base plate of the appliance. Then about 3 years ago, I had a scheduled ileostomy since I was having increasing problems again and it was discovered as part of the surgery that I had precancerous cells. I guess I dodged a bullet.

I have had problems with my appliances fitting well since I have a fairly good sized scar near the stoma. I have finally settled on one kind that has a smaller base than the others (Hollister) and most of the time it stays on several days (until I take a bath).

Maintaining.
