I am an architect living in PA. I have a lovely wife of 41 years, three kids and two grand kids. I love to cook.
I am new to this group. I have been eating a mostly vegan diet since the first of the year, My wife and I have been making the transition together. I went through a week or two of craving meat products but am through that (mostly).
I travel a fair bit and it is difficult when the crew wants to go to a BBQ restaurant. If you look though, you can generally find something that you can work with.
I started with no meat, no fish, no poultry; no dairy, and no oils. I now think that that is still a goal, but the no-oil thing is really difficult. I only use vegetable oils, have for a long time, but not using oil at all is really tough when you are making vinaigrette dressings or sautéing portabella mushrooms. Occasionally I use some non-fat yogurt, I haven;t found a reasonable substitute yet..
I look forward to hearing about any tip or tricks that you have found in your experience.
