I think donating blood is kind of noble. It's a way of bestowing life on strangers we will never meet or hear of. This is the highest form of giving charity possible, as the recipients never get to meet or hear of us, either.
I think blood donation is perhaps one of the best things you can do to give back to the community. It's cheap and easy. The nurses do all the work. All you have to do is lay there and bleed. I use to give whole blood about 5 times a year until we got a donation center in town. Now I give platelets about every two weeks. I split my donations between the red cross and the blood center of wisconsin. They make me feel welcome and that I am truly helping an individual. I just finished my 7th gallon. What a great team. All of you are truly special people with huge hearts.
