One thing I like about this site is there are a lot of big riders on this message board. I commute by bike 9 months out of the year, and I do long rides on the weekend. I've yet to see someone as big as me on a bike around here. But I do it because I love it, not because of how I look while doing it!
Years ago, I lost 20 pounds in a few months by riding. My weight loss is a little slower now. (Pushing 50, married to a "meat & potatoes" guy, high-stress desk job, a deep and abiding love for food...) I'm still working toward getting down to 160, but my over all goal is better health. Nothing better than hearing the doctor say, "Your lab work looks great." (Something few 30 year olds can appreciate!)
So get out and ride!
