Thanks, everyone! I appreciate it. :)

& thank you for the book recommendation! My local library carries it, so I'll be stopping by this weekend to pick up a copy. Sounds like it will be very useful.

You have ample time to get in shape for your 2 day 200k. Since you're new to cycling, I'd recommend this book: www.amazon.com/Complete-Book-Long-Distance
-Cycling-Confidence/dp/1579541992/ref=
sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1282919954&sr=8-1
. There is a 2nd Edition to this book, either is a great resource (I tend to refer to ver. 1 more). Has a great deal on bike fit, beginner training routines, *avoid overtraining*, etc.

Good luck to ya.

Hi, I'm Amanda! I've just signed up for the Ride to Conquer Cancer, a 2-day, 200km bike ride from Toronto to Niagara Falls. The Ride isn't until next June but, aside from spin classes, I'm very new to cycling. I'm looking forward to learning a lot about the sport in the coming months.

My current focus is on fundraising (each rider needs a minimum of $2500 in pledges!), but I'm planning to kick the training up a notch or two in the new year. I can't wait until I have something to contribute to this group; in the meantime, any insight or training tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks! :)
