Very Cool! I did an 15 and 18 mile ride this week. My problem now that days are getting shorter and colder is being able to get out on the road with 4 kids at home. During the summer my husband could watch them early morning before work or later evening after work but now its freezing in the morning and days are getting shorter. How do you guys compensate during the winter. Do you spin? Do you get the rollers?

I'm jealous, Ms. Anita. I have long wished they'd close some of the roads in the park where I ride so that vehicles were not allowed. Too many people driving out there that simply aren't paying attention.

Hey congrats on the bike ride.. and I give you credit for riding on a busy highway I get so nervious around cars so that is why I am going for a bike ride on the parkway they have here it runs a stretch a lake which is 3 or 4 miles one way..and then they close the rode that leads to the park which is also 3 miles so if I could get in 12 miles tomorrow I will be really happy..
keep up the good work..

Anita

Welcome! I think cycling can be addicting so I'm sure it will be a great help to losing weight. I seem to just want to ride and ride and then remember I have to get back to my car at some point.

Even though it was sympathy weight that I gained when my ex was pregnant, I did put on another 10-15 pounds and that left me at a hefty 235-240. I was able to get down to 210 lbs and my mileage up from 13 miles per ride to 100 miles. It just takes time and patience (two things I have little of).

When I started seriously cycling in February of 2009, I dropped from 235 to 210 lbs by June of 2009. Then, a motorist struck me while I was cycling on June 30th. I was out of the saddle for 2 months and that put me behind schedule by about 4 months as I was having to basically start all over again with the distance on my rides, plus I'd regained about 10 lbs.

Thanks to cycling, I hold at a steady 209-212. You can do it.

And congratulations on the new addition. Nothing can ever compare to the unending joys of being a parent.

Ride safe!

I just had my 4th kid 4 months ago and again looking to lose that pregnancy weight. I have Decided to try a road bike for the first time in my life. I have done plenty of spinning classes but the road bike is amazing. I absolutely love it. This morning I rode 13 miles, it was only my 5th time ever going out and first time on a busy highway, I was a little nervous but did great. Anyone else able to fight the pregnancy weight through cycling?
