I have kept track of my nutrition from almost day 1. 1st I was eating too much fat. Then I was eating too much salt. Then I wasn't eating enough of fiber. Then I ate too much fiber. So, I keep adjusting & some days I eat very well & some days I eat bad. I lost my weight w/ the aid of it b/c I was certainly doing enough exercise. But, I rarely ate enough calories. So, I hope this helps you out.

Hi and welcome to the team!
“The only way to keep your health is to eat what you don't want, drink what you don't like, and do what you'd rather not.”
Welcome! I like the site a lot, and the community is a great feature. Like Bevpresley, there are a few things I'd like - most importantly I'd like to be able to set a calorie goal day by day instead of one flat amount since I have big exercise days, mid exercise days and no exercise days. I'm much hungrier on big exercise days, so it would be nice to be able to tailor the system.
But having the app on the phone is a huge part of what makes this doable for me.
Welcome to SparkPeople. I have found the nutrition and fitness trackers very useful. I would prefer if the fitness estimates could be personalized for me. But it is nice to have everything on one site.
One Day at a Time:
1) 10,000 steps daily
2) fruit & vegie at every meal and log
3) aerobic or strength train every day
4) 7 hours sleep daily
5) check in with SP daily
August 2014 goals:
1) Get my nutrition back under control and record daily
2) Finish the forest service quilt and wall hanging
3) Ride my bike 25 miles a week
4) Clean and de-clutter one room each week
It's never too late to be what you m
Hi there and Welcome!
I signed up here on Jan 3 and setup a profile on the Start Page. Since then I have learned a metric TON of valuable information on fitness and nutrition and trained myself to eat much better than I did before ( without starving myself or ignoring my favorite foods )
Since then I have lost 35 pounds out of a goal of 50- which I may revisit to lose a bit more once I hit the goal weight. The trackers have been highly functional in helping to meet that goal as they keep me much more aware of what I am really eating cumulatively throughout the day.
The site has an incredibly powerful 3 things working in all of our favor- The trackers, the information and the COMMUNITY.
I've never lost 5 pounds or more and kept it off before. I have lost plenty and had each pound happily return with a few friends, but Spark People is different.
I think even my breathing has improved- because that was one long winded reply. Good luck on your SP journey and keep both wheels on the ground ;)
I was looking for a calorie tracker and I saw this app on the Android Market. I download the app and thought I would check the website out as well. So far the website seems pretty interesting with lots of info. How well or how has the nutrition and the fitness trackers helped you guys out so far and what are you folks doing to keep logging on here and keep track of what you eat and what you burn. I'm just wondering as I usually start with something and do it less and less as the time goes by until I don't do it anymore. Hello to all!
