Hehe, I actually did know that about Columbus because my parents come from there. My father decided he didn't want to live in that weather any more, even though all of their family lived there. He got out weather maps from all over the country and decided the best weather was in Santa Barbara, California. So he moved.

I will admit that when travelling, I look at the beautiful greenery and think it would be nice to live there...but I don't think I could move from here. When my husband and I started getting serious I warned him that I wouldn't live back east...and that east was anything past Arizona. He thought I was joking at first : )

Phoenix is hot, but you loose a couple months because it's too hot. My best friend lives in Tucson and that's a little cooler then Phoenix, but man those summers fry.

First of all, welcome to Calgalfox! emoticon But I have to admit that all of you writing about your beautiful weather is making me very jealous! Here in Ohio we had two beautiful days and now we get another four days of rain. Did you know Seattle has more sunny days than Columbus?! How am I ever supposed to be able to get riding time in when it not fit outside for man or beast? Until the weather improves I'm enjoying reading all of your comments on different topics and dreaming of the day we move some place nice, like Phoenix.

Thanks for the welcome!

Santa Barbara born and bred. We got married for the option of married student housing at UCSB, $126 a month including utilities! ...of course, that was a few years ago...

We now live about an hour north of there. I still ride down to SB, but now I can ride north and east too. It's all good!

Welcome aboard!! Sounds perfect out there. We've had some beautiful sunny yet cool weather here in FL. I'm hoping it does warm up a little though for our Century May 3rd. Have fun riding - I'd love to do a bike tour of the wine country there. Maybe one day...

Sounds like the Santa Barbara area!. My dh got his Ph.D. from UCSB (UC on Surf Board). He would do climbs (on his bike) up San Marcos Pass. I helped a friend (grad student) do some ground truthing by mountain bike and of course began our wine education in that area as well.

Now we're in Florida where there are wonderful clouds, but, not many hills.

I wanted to join one more team and you guys look like fun.

I love to ride. I ride both mountain and road bikes. I like endurance rides in the wine country and technical rides in the hills around my house. I'm fortunate that I live in an area where I can ride 12 months out of the year and that we have bike paths (and bike acceptance).
