Spookyrabbit, I think it is wonderful that you are starting to ride again in your early 60's. I am 51. I started riding again a month ago and I love it. My boyfriend tried running but it was to hard on his joints. My bursitis in my hip is doing so much better now. He got a bike a month earlier than I did. I had been wanting to ride for a long time. Now we both are . We are doing 10 miles right now . Eventually we also want to do some group riding.

I had a hybrid and this summer bought a Trek road bike and I love it. I have already ridden 256 miles on my new bike. I am planning to do the century ride in New Hampshire in September and can't wait! Welcome to the team!!

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. Pain is just weakness leaving the body! By his stripes we are healed. Strength is the capacity to break a chocolate bar in pieces with your bare hands--and then just eat one of the pieces. Current mileage to go on my 10th 1,000 Challenge is 193.72 miles. Current mileage to go on my 3rd 2,700 mile coast to coast bike challenge is 2,533.90 miles. NEVER STOP PEDALING
I started with a hybrid and the bike club (all on road bikes) helped me along. One would stay with me, when I began, eventually I took the hills, never quite the speed of the others, but downhill was fun. After going clipless on the hybrid getting the right clothes, etc. I eventually purchased a road bike. It took a little while to adjust, but I'm off and going. I'm just a few years younger and if I can do it, you can. I use the hybrid for endurance and the road bike for club rides. It's been so much fun.

Do not try and think outside the box. Instead, only try to realize the truth. There is no box. *** Good judgement comes from experience. Experience usually comes from bad judgement. *** Live each day as if it's your last, because one day you'll be right. *** Stop whining and DO something! *** I have no shift key and I must scream.
Hi, I'm just getting started cycling. I use to be a runner but have gotten a hitch in my get-a-long and needed a substitute. I have a hybird bike and went on my first group ride last night and discovered my bike was no match for the racing bikes (it could have been me). I would eventually like to get a racing bike and maybe, if capable, start some racing. Being in my early 60's this may be past my abilities but we'll see.
