good points COLNAGOBOY. I always forget to think east of the cascades. The weather and scenery are so different I forget it's part of the same state :P

Depends on where in Washington you will be stationed.

Coast is rain rain rain.

East of the coast range and west of he cascades is rain rain, overcast a lot but temperate climate.

East of the cascades is much less rain but more temperature swings - hot and cold. Snow in the winter.

lol That's funny. I drove through tropical storm Bonnie back in '04. I didn't realize that it was a tropical storm and kept wondering why everybody was pulling over for a little rain. Yeah it was hard to see but it was over so quickly that it didn't really seem to make sense pulling over. :D I hope it doesn't rain that much in WA. If that is where I am stationed I would rather have it be a little dry more often with larger rains rather than rain all the time.

Most of the year is gray and wet. But the rain is usually more of a drizzle so it's not so bad. I've heard it rains more in WA than OR, but I don't know the numbers. The summer and early fall are gorgeous.

Here's some perspective on rain....I lived in Orlando for a couple of years and looked up the annual rainfall of both Portland and Orlando. Turns out it actually rains more inches in Orlando per year, but it does it much more quickly. (I called them rain dumps :) )

How's the weather in Oregon? I found out that I might get stationed up in Washington so I thought I would ask someone from the area.

Hi from Seattle! Glad to hear we're not the only soggy riders out there. One of these days I'll buy fenders, but last weekend was absolutely gorgeous! First really warm spring day I can remember. Hope you made it out and got some vitamin D!

Hi from Portland! I'm usually a seasonal biker and the weather is getting nicer so I thought it was a good time to find fellow cycling sparkers. I hope to ride more throughout the year but need more rain gear first.

I didn't learn to ride until I was about 22 and now I ride more than most of my friends :P

I enjoy mountain biking but mostly ride to get around the neighborhood and commuting.
