Last Night, I was at my sponsoring bike shop for my team, and I got a look at my new carbon Race bike for this season, its a 2008 GIANT "TCR Advanced", it weighs in at 15.5 pounds. I hope its not as stiff as my teamates tell me it is or I'm going to be pretty sore from riding my long races =)
Go faster kits are indeed bike bits but also any sporty clothing that's sleek and slim that makes you look (or think you look) like a pro. I'm riding a Look Carbon road bike and I'm wearing the full CSC pro road racing kit at the moment and I imagine myself cycling through the tour de france countryside in the peleton, oh and I'm in the lead and I'm not even out of breath and they've even painted my name on the road. And then I woke up...Oh well you can dream eh ! Cheers everyone Keep the faith Shippas
You'll like the Carbon, I have a couple of Carbon bikes made from different companies...The team I am apart of gets sponsored buy different brands changing every few years or so...and from what I've learned is that carbon vary's in stiffness, and sometimes the quality of the weave is what does it...I never trust a company who paints 100% over their carbon bike's because you just can't see the quality
Hi I'm new !!! from the UK I need to get back on the bike and I hope this will be a start. I had a hernia operation and that set me back (way back). I used to be pretty good a few years back so maybe its still in there. I've purchased some new go faster kit so that's a start eh ? Oh well happy new year when it comes Cheers Shippas
Welcome to the team. It's great having the ability to do so many miles. I'm sure you will find that a lot of people on here are working on upping their miles as well as some veterans that are packing on the miles like you. Enjoy the team and good luck with your goals.
I've done the NCR trail from Ashland (Baltimore's end) to Glen Rock, PA, and back. I'd love to do the whole thing, too. The C&O trail would be great, but that would require overnight planning too. The NCR can be done round trip in a day.
Thanx for the welcome. Only ever did one race in Ohio and that was the DIDI MAU Mountain Race in Athens, Ohio. This was put on by a group of Viet Nam Vets and was a 2 part Race...A dirt crit and then the X-country race. One of the best organized I ever raced at. People were exceptionally friendly!!!
Hello Baltimore!!! One of my rides for next spring is to ride the entire NCR trail. The new section that is ending at John Rudy County park is almost completed and should be by Spring. I wanted to wait to do this til it is completed so I can say I actually did the entire trail. Also am planing on doing the C/O trail from Cumberland, Md to DC.
Im Jealous of you!!! I wish I lived in southern california. You can ride all year long. The "Season" here in central Pa is usually Mid March and ends the end of October when we run out of light. Masters Expert: Mountain bike racing is broken down in catagories: Beginner, Sport, Expert and then Professional. The catagories are then broken down by age groups. Master Expert are Expert's over 45 year's of age. Better hurry to make the goal!!!
I'd like to see a 45* day! I ride as long as it is above 32* but its not much fun like in the 80* days [my favorites] 15* is Am temp here in Pa and the snow we had yesterday turned to a sheet of ice. I am glad we have spin classes at the gym. Take Care!

found sparks people a week or so ago and just now stumbled on to this team. I average 6000+ miles per year during the season, most miles are now road miles. Not near as many Mountain miles since I retired from racing Masters Expert. Off Season I hike and take spin classes at the gym. For now just saying Hello to other cyclist from outside of York, Pa.
