Yes we have to monitor Nanook quite a bit. She is very dominant and is constantly....hmmm how to put this politely...mounts her sister in dominance and then there is the fighting. We have only had one bloody fight but that was a accidental piercing of an ear. Shyla is very dramatic so it took a few minutes to calm her down while I had Nanook pinned in the corner.

Hi Carol, it does sound like we have a lot in common! I am sorry to hear Nanook has the arthritis in the spine. I am glad you have found something that makes life more comfortable for her. They do so much better if they grow up together as puppies. Sabaka accepted Naniq better than expected but as he has grown older, she has taken over the dominant position and at times wants to play rough with him like he did her when they were younger. As you are aware I'm sure with Nanook, Sabaka cannot take playing too rough so I am constantly monitoring the two of them. I feel bad for Naniq since she does not understand why I have to stop them at times and she won't play rough with me like she does him. Let me know if/when you decide to get that pup. I will be interested in how things turn out.

Welcome Jer-ber. Nanook also has arthritis in her spine. It is so hard to see them in pain. We have been fortunate so far with Medicam and bringing her inside at night. We also have puppy fever but Nanook is the agressive one so not sure we can do that while she is still with us. We had only had Nanook 9 months when we brought Shyla home and both were basically puppies then. Nanook had been through puppy school.

Hi everyone! I am new to the team but have been on SP for several years now. I have met a few of you and am thrilled to be here. I have two Siberian Huskies, a male who is about 13 years old and a female Husky/Shepherd mix who is about 8 now. They are my kids and I love them dearly. My oldest Sabaka, has arthritis in his spine and is on meds for the pain which help him get around but it is difficult for me to know he is in this condition. We will make his life as comfortable as possible, but will not allow him to suffer if things worsen. My younger one Naniq, has such an awesome personality and is always so happy! They play like brother/sister and fight like brother/sister! I am already considering another one but am concerned about introducing it to Naniq since she is so awesome with people but seems to be more aggressive with other dogs. We had another male Husky before Sabaka but he ended up with mouth cancer and that was difficult. Sabaka used to be much more aggressive when he was younger so when we introduced Naniq to him I was concerned, but he seemed to adjust quickly. Although both have been to "dog school" more than once (which all of you probably already know is quite the challenge emoticon ) and have been exposed to other dogs but I still am concerned about how Naniq will adjust to a new pup. Any advice you would like to share is greatly appreciated!

Hi! I am new to SP and to this team. I am from Indianapolis, IN. My family and I are Husky people! We had a beautiful blue-eyed girl that we lost a couple of years ago, but we are going to pick our new pup out of the litter this weekend!! We will get to bring him/her home in just a couple of weeks. We are SO excited!
