Hello everyone, my name is Karen and I've been on Spark for a while but never seriously sticking to it, I am gonna make this time stick. I have a beautiful Husky named Asha( which translated means Hope) I got her at 8 weeks and now she is 8 months old. We also have in our household 3 cats and my boyfriend has a Husky names Ice and a mix that looks like a lion named Harley. I am a volunteer at Free Spirit Siberian Rescue, wish I could be there more but I work alot. My cats are all rescues and if I had land I think I would seriously be in trouble :-) Looking forward to being in this group.

Hey Everyone, I'm Susan and live near Pensacola Florida. Joined spark a month ago and really enjoy it. We have a 2 year old malamute that we just truly love. He is the best thing around. Weighs 120 lbs but we are always worried that he doesn't eat enough, only 2 cups a day. He is inside the house expect the one day we are away at work and then he has a a/c dog house to stay in and the yard to run around in. Never thought a dog could change our life so much. Check out my sparkpage for pics. Thanks for looking. emoticon

Hi All-
I've been a member of the team for a few years. I have a 9 year old Malamute and we rescued a 4 y/o Siberian Husky in January. She trashed the house and jumped out a window (through a screen, window is only about 2 ft off the ground) on Friday while I was at work. I think the Malamute egged her on. I used to work at home and am now going into the office -she's not happy. I took her running this morning to try to burn some of her crazy energy off. Any suggestions to keep her occupied and out of trouble during the day? We've tried crating her. She's a Houdini. I give her a kong stuffed with peanutbutter and a biscuit before I leave in the morning.

ďAt times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have ignited the flame within us."-Albert Schweitzer

Hi everyone! I'm new to spark people and just wanted to introduce myself. I love huskies!! I have 12 Sibes and love every single one of them. My husband and I refer to them as "the kids". They are truly our children and I couldn't imagine my life without them. I know your all thinking "12 dogs!?!?" We're dog mushers so we race them. Its great exercise for both us and the kids and its a wonderful way to connect with our dogs. I'm looking forward to getting to know some people on here.

Welcome to the team Jen, wow 3 of them. You have your hands full. I love it! Too bad about the sled but there will be next winter never fear.

How cool that you are a member of a husky club. I need to look around here to see if there are any. I never really thought to look.

Hello Team. My name is Jen and I live in NY. Several years ago, a friend asked me to keep her Siberian, Kane, at my apartment for a few weeks. I just loved his temperment and disposition. I saw that he was great with kids, cats, and all types of people. Since that time, I knew there would be a day when I would have one of my own.

That day came a couple of years ago, when I got my first Sibe, Maya. She is a great and loved member of our family. Then, last summer someone gave us their Sibe, Dusty, because he was chewing up all the furniture. He adjusted very well, eventually, but definitely needed some re-training. And, three months ago, after going dog-sledding for our first time, we decided to add a Sibe/Alaskan Husky mix, Mika, to our family and team. We've joined the two Siberian Husky Clubs in our local area recently and just in love with life with our pups.

As soon as we bought a sled, however, the snow all melted away. Isn't that just how it tends to happen? Oh well, now we're all equipped for next winter and we have spring, summer, and fall to train them all on their sledding commands. Anyone else sled, skijor, members of Siberian Husky Clubs?

Hi everyone! I am definately a husky lover! I was born in Alaska, so it kind of fits! My first husky was a mckenzie river husky, my grandmother bred them, her name was Kiska, she tore our blankets and clothes to shreds as a pup...she out grew it eventually after my parents gave her to my uncle...she was a sweetie though. When I moved out of the house I got another Husky (siberian) named Sadie, she like to tear up paper and boxes, didn't take her long to get over that. She lived to be 15.5 years always very healthy. This time I rescued a Siberian Husky mix (papered mother, father part siberian/part golden retriever). The owner gave up the mother and her two 1yr old pups. So Sasha came home with me! She is a great girl. House trained already, doesn't chew anything! She does however love to dig holes and has selective hearing when outside..... She is now 2 yrs old. We go for regular walks and visit the dog park when the dog count is lower...she feels the need to break up other dogs that are being a little cranky. I will post more pics soon.

Hello. I have had a Siberian Husky for 6 years. I didn't read up on them before I purchased him I just always loved how beautiful they were. Well, I was in for a big surprise. They are VERY full of energy and must be walked, you can NEVER let them off of leash they will take off as their instinct is to always explore. They will re-landscape your yard (huge craters) especially if they are bored. They are escape artists too. They are NOT watchdogs and will not protect your property. (I ended up getting a german shepherd for that). You will definitely want to kennel train your pup. We did ours and I am sure it saved us in furniture, etc. Whenever we were gone he was in his locked kennel. They are a very special breed and I love my Harley but he was ALOT of work the first 2+ years of his life. They also shed a ton. One good thing though, they don't get that doggie smell! Just know what you are in for! You may want to google for siberian husky rescue website in your area. They will provide you with alot of info and you may be able to help rescue one.

I dont know of any but I think its awesome that you guys are willing to take in a husky. They are great dogs but make sure you do your research to make sure they are a good match for you and your family. I would check local shelters too. Too many folks take a husky in before they read up on them and unfortunately that means a lot of homeless pups. Let us know when you find one and please post pics we love to see them.

Welcome! We are glad to have you. I love white Germans and all black ones too they look so different. Same for the all white huskies. Nanooks father was all white. Huskies are great and I love that they talk.

Speaking of talking be sure to chime in in the general forums section. We do most of our day to day chit chat in the for husky lovers forums in that section.

unfortunatley there are no running trails there is a park for campers in the summer, of course I was thinking about trying the railbed, there are no trains here anymore so I could try that, but in the winter I'd have to deal with the skidoos. I'll figure something out.

Do you have any running trails or parks to go walk/run at? Thats where I would feel safest walking my girls. I would love to walk them around my house but we live in the country and no one keeps their dogs up except us so we are constantly running into trouble.

Thanks Carol, I do have to stop at times when cars go by, maybe I need to find a way to run them away from traffic.

Welcome to the team. So glad you found us. I have only taken my girls on a few walks roadside and mostly I have them on a leash and make them wait when cars pass so I am no help on this one. I need to try to take mine running as they are in need to lose weight just like I am.

hello, just found this team, I have a Husky mix. I have fallen in love with the breed. Have done runs with him, he is my favorite running buddy, doesn't complain, but does jump at the cars and trucks. Any tips for training him. I have actually held back from running with him lately because of it and due to an injury can't take the chance of him pulling me.
