My name is Erica and I need to lose 60 lbs. I live in Texas and am making 2013 the year I get my finances and my weight where I want them to be. I don't expect it to happen overnight and it's not a quick onettime fix all, but a total lifestyle change.
My name is Jodi I have 200 lbs to loose and I am frugal. I am fortunate that I live in CA and fruits and veggies are far cheaper here than in the rest of the country. But the cost of living here kills you so it is all relevant I guess. I have a problem doing many exercises because of a ankle that has so much hardware in it from a old injury I set metal detectors off. But now that it looks like the doctors are trying to get my hormonal imbalances under control better the weight is a bit easier to loose and hopefully the arthritis flare ups will reduce a bit.
I do tons of things to reduce our food and other bills and I look forward to sharing them.

Hey everyone! My name is Jennifer. I am new to the team. I am trying to drop about 40 pounds, by making better choices in what I eat and what I do (don't do) during the day. I am a stay at home mother of two young boys, and really really really broke. Such is life. But being thrifty is starting to become second nature as I learn a few tricks to make the money stretch. It's a bit difficult at times when I have other family members of mine attempting to shove their life down my throat. After-all, I should be miserable, but instead I am some kind of weirdo for enjoying mine. I hope to get to know more of you all and check in regularly for some ideas and such.
Im a 50 year old nurse who needs to lose about 75 pounds total. I have to keep costs down because my husband is retired. We still have 6 of our 9 children at home. I never spend money on gyms. I go on walks or bike rides. Sometimes you can combine doing your errands with exercise to save on gas. I bring my own food to work saving calories and money because what I bring from home is lower in cal and cheaper then what you buy. Fresh produce is expensibve but offset by not buying snacks, fast food, pop etc. Sometimes people who garden will sell or give away their extra produce. I grow my own berries. In the off season frozen produce can be more reasonable in price then fresh. Cooking and limiting portions is cheaper then buying expensive low cal dinners.
Hello and welcome to the team Marylou. I know what you mean low cal food is expensive. One trick is to buy seasonal when it is usually cheapest and at its best. I could sing along with you because many of my problems are the same as yours, tight budget.
To my Sp friends "How can life be true without friends" Enius Thanks for extending your friendship to me
We look forward to getting to know you better though our chats and challenges. We hope you come and join us.As far as saves I use coupons a lot. Also, check with your local grocery website and see if they have coupons for their store and join their club as they send you coupons too. I have a coupon party once a month where we exchange coupons, books recipes, clothes, etc. It helps. The other thing that we do is some of us sew and some don't so we exchange those that sew will help those that don't for a hair cut or house cleaning. It is just something to think about. I started Spark (again) in October. It's working! I am curious how others keep the costs of food under control. I bought spaghetti squash the other day, and it was $6.00! Of course, the pasta was much, much cheaper! This is how I got so overweight! Thanks for listening!
