I have found coupons for unprocessed foods in the health related magazines you find for free in health stores, vitamin stores, natural co-ops, or organic stores. You may have to look in phone books or on the internet to find these stores, but they can be a great source for clean, non-processed food and supplements as well.

We get produce cheaper by doing price-matching. My hubby goes through the weekly local store ads to find the cheapest prices, and WalMart will match the prices, even of large produce stand ads in a nearby community. Of course, since we want to support other local businesses, we try to buy from the original store when it is convenient to where we'll be out and about.

This is my first post to this team:)

I found in the next town over (just 2 miles away) a produce store - that's all they sell. Produce is local and price is a little less than major supermarkets. Got apples for .39/lb. last week, and a bag of potatoes was cheaper there than anywhere else. The plus to this market is across the street is a fish market, so I can get fresh fish during the same trip, no prepackaged, imported stuff. My body is much healthier. Try seeing if there is a place like that, which may be closer to work or other place you visit, instead of your hometwon.

There's a discount bakery that's about 15 miles away. I vist it once a month when I head that direction for a monthly meeting and stock up - no making a special trip with the high price of gas. And with every $5 I spend there, I get to pick from the FREE rack.

If you go to the Driscoll's site and register you will get coupons for their berries...I used mine last month for blackberries and blueberries...and they are US fruits not Mexican...so any pesticides would be regulated

I wish there were more coupons for veggies and such. The only ones I've seen are for frozen or canned veggies and usually the store brand is cheaper anyway. I have joined a few mailing lists to get a coupon (Laura's Lean Beef comes to mind), but that's usually a one time deal, unfortunately.

I agree about just checking different ads for sales on fresh produce and items. I do ck whole foods website regulary and they sometimes have coupons for things... sometimes coupons just get you to spend more!

Ah yes, I know where Fallbrook is. And you are right. There are some produce stores up here also, that have some pretty good deals, if your timing is RIGHT...

We are looking forward to a FRESH AND EASY market (one of these days... they keep saying they are coming, but when??)

I live in Fallbrook, CA behind Camp Pendleton. These deals are usually frm Mexican Markets. The asparagus deal was Fresh and Easy which is a store that promotes healty food items. I was surprise to see the asparagus deal myself, the original price was 3.99/lb so I really enjoyed it.

I find that buying store brands is usually cheaper than using a coupon. I occasionally find a coupon for something that I normally buy. IMHO the instore coupon or in the grocery adds is where you will find coupon for produce or watch for the item to be on sale.

Wow, those prices are amazing! Much lower than where we live.

I don't see many coupons for healthy foods but I thank God for the store ads for fresh fruits and vegetables! Last week: asparagus .99/lb, radishes .99/ 3 bunches, yams .99/2 lbs, apples .99/ 3 lbs! I go to town on my spending for this kind of sales!

I get a lot of frozen vegetable coupons in newspaper inserts. My grocery store recently started a loyalty card program. I'm not sure how it works. The last time I was there I bought several items, including baby carrots. The cashier asked if I wanted my baby carrots for free. I said yes! So many people are interested in health these days that stores will start offering more coupons.

My local stores have recently had the following as part of their weekly flyers:
Free bag of mini-carrots with $15 order of food [no tobacco, no alcohol, no non-foods]
$5 of on a $50 food order [same restrictions as above]
$1 off on store brand of frozen veggies.

I have never seen ads like that otherwise.

Sometimes Dillons (owned by Kroger) will have electronic coupons for fruits/vegetables and nuts. Not very often.

Thanks, I'll check some of the companies I buy from. I have not been to a Costco for a couple of years so will see what organic stuff they offer. For us our food coop across the border in Idaho has been our best bet for bulk foods.
We are planting a garden every year and while it's time-consuming I like the taste of home-grown even better than organic from the store.

Checking on line under the names of companies is the best way. But, there are at times coupons for nuts and other items.

Best place to get good fruit and veggies is a farmers Markets or stands. They sell in bulk or you can buy less. I grow my own veggies which helps a lot.

Also check online to see who has the best prices for bulk (i.e. Whole food, Costco, PCC Market, ect.) Here in Washington we have 2 very large places to shop for Organic foods and fresh veggies. One is called PCC Market and the other is Central Market. Plus the fruit stands that have locally grown. During the summer we have our Farmers Markets too.

Hope that helped.

I could be wrong, but I have never seen many coupons for unprocessed food, like raw vegetables, raw fruit, bulk grains, beans, nuts, herbs etc.
Of course there are a lot of non-food items we need, too. emoticon
So where are the best places to get coupons for healthy, relatively unprocessed organic foods?
My time is worth even more to me than my money so if I can't get them fairly easily I won't clip coupons. Any suggestions?

Birgit
