Changing habits is key to achieving your goals! Diets yield temporary results ... period! I have found personally that changing my "conditioned mindset" and my attitude is working well for me. I am ever so slowly transforming negative patterns (habits) for beneficial ones. Slow is key and relatively painless! I have also come to the realization that racing to the finish-line is pure folly and counter productive because it adds undo pressure that negatively interferes with the process. Commit not to a number on the scale but to the beautiful soul dwelling within you your wishes for a healthy lifestyle will become your reality ... emoticon emoticon

I know exactly what you mean about the financial concerns. I can't even remember that happy time in my youth when I didn't care about money and bills and job security and planning for retirement and budgeting and staying up late nights with it all going around and around in my head...ahhhhhhhh! Hey, but at least we can control some things in our lives, and Spark definitely helps with that. Good luck with all your goals!

Marcia, you can do it. I've still got a long way to go with weight loss, but I was able to get off of blood pressure medicine after only a few months of Spark healthy eating and exercise. Welcome to the team! Small consistent changes will do the trick!

Thanks for all the messages! This is exciting and I'm hoping for a nutrition/exercise lifestyle change for 2011. I've discovered most diets do not work and I need to learn to change habits. I live in Maryland but I'm from Virginia and spend a lot of time there too. I'm married to a wonderful guy who also wants to lose weight. I have two beautiful daughters. One is married, the other graduated from college in May and is looking for the "real job" right now and living at home. I'm a stress eater, and my husbands job situation (construction) has not been stable since 9/11. So I'm always worried about money and the future. I need to learn to not do this, easier said than done I'm afraid...
Last January I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and I am currently on medication for that. Hopefully I can lose weight and exercise regularly to get this under control and go off the medication.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all. Here is to losing wieght and moving into a healthier 2011!
