Hello all!
I am Kat, and a catlover to the core! I live and work in Cyprus as a Rad Tech, I am married with two kids, two bunnies, many fish and four hoolicats! Why hoolicats? They spend most of the day doing zoomies in the house, then in the garden, then wind up knocking things over or sitting on my keyboard!!! I know that I would never be without them though.
Looking forward to meeting you all!

emoticon My name is Denise. I've been a Spark member for quite a while, but only recently started really using it. I'm so glad I discovered this prrrfect team! I recently adopted two precious rescue kitties. They are sisters, Torties, and are 8 months old. It has been three years since I lost my last cat, TokieMoon. My name picture is a photo of his father, a grand champion Birman.

This time I wanted to help the local rescue program and Cinnamon and Cocoa (my girls), became my Thanksgiving Eve surprise! I'm so grateful they came as a pair, so to speak. They love each other (and me) immensely. Rarely are they not together. Living alone, I feel my life and home are once again complete

Now they are in the Sweet Sixteen NCAA tournament round. Spartan's take care of business, as in also winning the 2014 Rose bowl game.

I was always a dog person until I developed such severe allergies to them that my three daughters were only allowed small pets such as hamsters and gerbils.(As an asthmatic, needing an ER trip to deal with the attacks got old pretty fast.)

After the divorce ( my ex was a dog person) and raising my DDs, I was lonely enough to go to an allergist to see how broad my animal allergies were. To my surprise, dogs were my only problem, animal wise. I now have a pair of senior kitties of around 13 years who were looking for forever homes. Blue, a 'blue'/grey boy and a Calico (girl) named Callie. My third cat, a boy named Rusty, is ginger colored with a white ruff, chest and paws. He is six and has very long hair that floats everywhere.emoticon His mom was a short haired tortie, so the long hair was an unexpected surprise!emoticon

All three are neutered/spayed indoor cats and great company for me.

just returned from a job-hunting trip in wisconsin and almost brought 2 youngsters [1-yr olds] back with me. they were so sweet and in need of a home--it was difficult not to adopt them, but my oldsters [especially the 20-yr old] would have been so unhappy. sigh... gotta do what's right for the family. however, if any of you are looking for two beautiful babies and you live in or near milwaukee, let me know and i'll tell you where they are. lovely boy and girl 1-yr old abyssinians, front declawed [poor babies] and sweet as can be.

Hi, My name is Eileen. I live in Maine with my two furry children Brandie and Brady. Brandie is all black--a sweet round style cat who is quite a talker. She also has extra toes on eat foot. My husband calls her Big Foot. Brady is a tuxcedo black and white that spends a lot of his time birdwatching. They both travel with us in our motorhome and have seen quite a bit of country so far.
I joined Sparkpeople in February. I can't say I have made much progress---no fault of the program, but I'm sticking with it and am determined to be a success!
I was happy to find this group. Look forward to getting to know all of you better. Good luck on your weight loss journeys. Eileen

It went on slowly and will come off slowly.

Hi! New to the team, returning to SparkPeople after a bit of a break. I have 2 indoor kitties with very different personalities and get lots of fuzzy love from them. One is a very athletic Bombay and truly believes the term "Parlor Panther" applies to him. The other is a Maine Coon mix and would rather be flipped upside down with me rubbing his belly or scratching his neck. Luckily, they get along very well and provide me with lots of entertainment!

Yes, I CAN!

Hi violet here. Just wanted to say that I grew up with cats. My mom used to tell me that our cat Boots helped me to hatch by laying on her stomach all the time when she was pregnant with me. Right now we only have one cat. Orange with white stripes named socks. My husband named her. She is actually a stray that my husband found right after I had my daughter.

Hi, Joanne here!
I have loved cats and have lived with them my whole life. I think I may have actually been one in a past life:) The love of my life is my cat Leon. He is an orange tabby and has an extremely extensive vocabulary. I would have more cats in the house with us if I didn't think it would break his heart to share me:) emoticon

Hello, I was on this team 2 years ago and then my cat had to be put down. So I quit the team... now I am back.
Well today we adopted two cats from the shelter, Justin and Captain Morgan. They are still getting used to us and our house. Justin is a really big fella, Norwegian Forest Cat. Captain Morgan is a black cat with green eyes who is more sociable. They wanted them adopted together and that was fine with us! They are both about 2 years old. My page has their new photos. I will get better photos as we go along.

Hi my name is Bette Jo. I just recently adopted Sammy. He is a neutered male, Persian/Siamese mix. I found him on Craig s List. He is 7 years old and weighs 19 lbs. He was just to the Vets the week before I got him and perfectly healthy. It took him about a week to get use to us, now it is just like he has always been with us!

Hi my name is Kelly, my husband and I live with our 13 cats.....yes 13 you read right!! The ages range from 1 yrs old up to 21 yrs old (we have 4 cats over the age of 16 yrs). As many of you know senior cats can be a challenge in keeping them eating, grooming, staying healthy and going potty. Everyone is fixed and very well taken care of....keeping a very clean home is the most challenging part of having 13. I am hoping to gain information as well as pass along some that I have learned throughout my years taking care of my fur babies.

Hi. New to the team. I have a black short-hair cat. My husband rescued her from an area animal shelter. She is adorable. She was a very scared cat when we first got her. When we would raise our hand to pet her she would almost wince like she thought we were going to hit her. So we wonder if she had been abused. She has come along way. She is very happy and lovable. She brings so much happiness to our home.

hello!
My name is Carol, live in the Midwest, owned by a kitten named Ashley who is 10 months old. We took her in, her mama was feral and had a litter in our garage. Grown sons especially spent a lot of time with the kittens so they would be socialized. Ashley is an indoor kitty, and fully in charge of the house!
Looking forward to getting to know you all.

I'm new to this team and live in the Finger Lakes region of NY. We have 3 indoor/outdoor cats (3 boys: Henry, Sunny and Fabio) that we adopted from our local SPCA. They were supposed to be "semi-feral", but really only one of them was semi-feral (Fabio) and he is coming around, and is much friendlier and socialized to people now.

I am returning to SP after a long time away. So far, some weight is coming off. Last night was not so great with my food intake, but today is another day. I am struggling more with finding ways to get moving, especially in the cold winter.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day! emoticon

Hi Team! I'm new to Spark this month. I'm just getting back into a fitness routine after a few year hiatus. I'm pescatarian for 25 years and eat mostly whole foods, but need to work on portion size and activity level. I have 4 indoor cats; Ken-chan is 14, Kuma is about 10, Brian and Basho are 1. They all eat a grain free diet and Ken-chan eats only soft foods since he finally had to have all his teeth removed after many years of annual cleanings and persistent dental issues. Kuma was a feral cat I rescued and you would never know it; he is fully adjusted, very lovable and affectionate. Brain and Basho were feral, born to a feral momma cat, rescued by a friend and eventually came to me. I'm still working on integration issues between the kittens and the cats, but it's coming along. Nice to meet fellow cat lovers!

I am new to the team and SparkPeople in general. I share my life with my husband and quite a few pets. Among those dear furry family memebers (well, we have one fish, so furry and finny family members) is our handsome black and white kitty Desperado. He came to us about 10 and a half years ago as a little kitty skeleton with fur stretched over it. That's exactly what he looked like. Today, he is a little on the plump side and very beloved. He has to be on special food for health reasons that is more fatty than commercial cat food, that along with an eating disorder of his starvation times (he used to eat EVERYONE's food, even ours if we weren't looking!) makes him a little more plump than I'd like him to be. But for his health concerns, I'm just glad he's with us, extra kitty chubs and all.

Hi,
I'm new to this team. I realized the one thing I would give up chocolate for is felines. I personally have 6 cats of my own (one has 3 legs), a grandcat that lives with me when my daughter comes home from college and various foster cats.

Hi! I'm new not only to the group but to SparkPeople. Today I tracked food for the first time. I have around 80 pounds to lose.

I live in Virginia and have two new kittens, 6 mos. old. They're brother and sister and are named Ozzie and Harriet. If you visit my page you'll see their sweet faces. They were only about 2 months in that picture.

My name is Marie and I am owned by a 6yr old neutered male Maine Coon Cat who looks alot like the team picture but fuzzier. His name is Seamus and he sometimes posts on my blog for me when I don't feel too good. I am disabled, at home 95% of the time and he is my companion and love. When he was a kitten,I(in better health)had my computer on the 2nd fl. and if he hadn't seen me for a while would bolt up the stairs crying "Ma". I just love my gatto!

I was wandering around Spark and saw this team on someones Spark page, and just had to join. I don't really have time to join another team, as I am a team leader of one, and that takes a lot of time.

But I love my baby (Loki) and love cats in general. I saw your thread on older cats... and when I have a little more time I'll come back and post on that thread. Having delt with two cats with chronic renal failure - and nursed one for 3 1/2 years ... that is an interest of mine.

Hi! I'm Claire and I'm spoiling 7 kitties while feeding at least one or two more in Atlanta, GA. My family has accused me of trying to become the neighborhood's "crazy cat lady" but I'm not planning to adopt any more. They also seem to have stopped multiplying since the pet store in the shopping center close to us closed. (Hmmmm...imagine that!)

Anyway, Tom, Jerry and Callie are almost 4 (July 1st babies) - two marmalades and one calico (obviously). We found them before their eyes opened and brought mama with babies into the house. Their mama is Phoebe (aka the ungrateful bitch) and is a tortoiseshell. She would not let us tame her, so we let her raise her babies, got her "fixed" and released her. She sometimes comes around to eat.

Spencer is probably about 6 months younger and his mom is Punkin, but they ignore each other. Junior is Spencer's brother from another litter, which makes him almost 3. We have no idea how old Punkin is, but she had to have a mastectomy last month and has never been particularly healthy. She has allowed us to keep her inside and pet her regularly. We take good care of her she loves to head-butt the hubby. She and Junior still curl up together for naps and are really sweet and adorable together. All three are orange tabbys but Punkin has blue eyes and had a daughter from Spencer's litter that looks Siamese.

Misty is a solid silver/gray kitty. I've had her for about 11 years now. She spends her days sleeping on my kitchen counter or staring at the wall. She does not like all the other kitties, but has found a way to live with them. She has cataracts, but seems pretty healthy otherwise.

Sam is a gray tabby with a touch of white on his neck/chest. We lured him in the house one night with a can of tuna that I proceeded to hold in my lap. After eating heartily, he promptly fell asleep on me and we were able to take him to the doctor for shots and "fixing" surgery. He didn't take well to living indoors with all the other cats (he had already learned to spray), so he lives outside and sometimes lets us pet him. He loves to "talk" to us, regularly letting us know when he needs more food.

Well, that's about it. If you would like to see pictures of most of them, you can visit my Spark Page.

Hi, everyone,
I've been with SP since late December 2009 and just have joined this team. I'm also a relative newcomer to having cats. Moved to a condo in March 2007 and got our first cats in the fall. Previously we have been rescue rottie owners. We're enjoying our cats and my personal fave is Zoey who was feral. She is a lover with an independent streak - of course, she's a cat and she was feral.

My DH and I feel like we have lots more to learn about owning (???) cats. I may ask some very naive questions.

Later,
Deb

Heys I have been on here for about a year and just very recently became active with this and am really trying now. Between my mother and I we have five fur babies
Sassy(mine,15 almost 16), Muffin her sister same age, Bubba (14) Sasha (3) and Mr. Tiger Man (almost 3 my lil boy). I am quite knowledgable with cats and I believe only in responsible pet ownership (indoors cats only, keeping up with vaccinations and all other respopnsiblities) in my line of work I deal with with hoarders and collecters and feeder and fanatics and have no love towards people like that.

Hi,

Our kitties are sisters, Chelsea, a cute tabby and Beenie, who is a pretty white and grey calico. They are 11 years old, and in pretty good health. For Christmas, they got a warm and fuzzy fleece blanket. They both apparently loved it they started to knead on it. Little April passed away 2 years ago from HCM. Always look for the signs of HCM and if possible get your kitties tested.

Hi. My name is Mary Anne and I live in PA (born and raised in Maine - lived in MA for 21 yrs. where we raised our kids and our kitties). I still have 2. We adopted Ms Molly when she was 8 (now 15) and PolyDactyl 2 weeks before at the age of about 1 1/2 (now 8 1/2). I have had cats all my life plus a dog and a duck when I was little. If you look at my sparkpage you will see my two ladies. The kids an I also raised Siberian dwarf hamster, gerbils and fish besides having 4 kitties at the time. Might say we had our own zoo. emoticonemoticon

I don't have one or two cats...I have my own feral colony. The colonly was around before I was born. There used to be a truck stop and garage center there before I-95 opened in this area...so it's been a while. I have a number of cats that were injured and some that were orphaned here.

A cat lover's team--how brilliant is that!! :D

You can tell from my name that I love kitties...I've had as many as six at once, but only three right now. We have Mixie, who's about 13 now (older grey tuxedo girl), Sirocco, a 6 yo male orange and white boy who we call our 'wussy cat' (he has issues), and our newest addition back in October, Zephyr, who is also a white and orange male who's about 4-5 months old now. He's made life very interesting! ;) He's quite the lap cat, and very smart.

I live in So. California, married, no kids (hence the cats ;) )

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Hi,
I have just found your team and I think this is a good match for me. I have three cats. Spooky who is black and 3 y/o and then I have Buddy who we think is in the wrong body since he thinks he is a dog. He chews on everything and Mischief our princess. She is allergic to cat food. Buddy and Missy are 1 1/2y/o
I have been married for almost 18 y/o's and I have a 15 y/o old son.
I have been able to maintain my weight loss for about a year.
At the moment we live in OH.

Hi! I'm Snowmentality. I have two lovely cats. One is a dilute tortie/tabbie named Ada. She has tortie attitude -- super-affectionate and super-talkative. Loudest meow I have ever heard out of a cat. My other cat is an odd-eyed white cat named June. She's also very friendly and snuggly, but quieter and more polite than her sister!

They are actually littermates -- we adopted them together from the shelter when they were 3 month old kittens.

Glad to meet you all and your kitties! emoticon

Hi, I'm Dawn and I have 3 beautiful cats - Zoe (10), Snowy (3) and Sparky (1). Zoe and her twin brother Zac came to live with us at the age of 1 when their original owner passed away. Sadly we lost Zac two years ago (heart and kidney problems the vets couldn't fix). Zac and Zoe used to spend all their time cuddled together, and I was really worried she'd be lonely, so we got Snowy from a shelter. That didn't really work out - Zoe has informed me in no uncertain terms that she'd much rather be an only kitty. Sparky arrived via email - a friend of a friend of a friend's son brought home a stray that promptly had kittens. They found homes for them all and kept the mum. Fortunately Snowy and Sparky adore each other.

Sparky would very much like to become SparkPeople's official spokeskitty - the job has her name on it!

Hello fellow cat lovers!!! I just found out about this team today when wishing one of my fellow members of the Done Girls team a happy birthday.

My name is Cindy, and I live in Northwestern Connecticut and own three cats: Fluffy, a tri-colored tabby; Pumpkin, a calico; and Mow, a long-haired tortie.

My screen name, CAOMAGIC, is based on my first cat. CAO are my initials, and MAGIC is the name of a cat that I owned for l8 years. She had to be put to sleep due to kidney failure three years ago, a week after I graduated from UCONN. I still miss her and think of her everyday.

SparkPeople has teams for just about everything!! I look forward to getting to know you great cat lovers!!!emoticon

emoticonYou picked the Purr-fect spot. I get different toys for my guys, Grandma spoils them too, but the only toy Sneaky Pi really loves to play with is an old mouse that's been around at least 5 years. Good to know ya!

Hi, I'm from Mississauga, Ontario and have had cats all my life. At one point, when I first moved from Nova Scotia, I had 4, which was a tad too much in a one bedroom apt, but I'm a softee for a new kitten.

20 years later, I have one gorgeous fur ball aptly named Fluffy. You can see the princess on my web page. She is spoiled rotten and has 3 unique personalities. She's a big suck with me and follows me everywhere. She'll only go for a nap on my lap if she has her chenille blankie.....not kidding. She plays fetch with hubby and loves to chase our 14 year old son.

Every day she puts a smile on my face, from the moment I open the bedroom door and see her sitting there waiting for me. She rarely meows, but makes cooing noises. She's affectionately known as the "ho". She'll do just about anything for a belly rub....

So glad to find so many other cat lovers as we look to get healthy and knock off the lbs.

Susan, Mississauga, ON

Hi - my name is Joyce. I live with 3 cats and when I visit my daughter in NC I have 10 "grandcats". (Oh yes, these are inside cats and there are 3 outside cats that are fed and cared for as well).

I've been with SP for oneyear and have lost 23 lbs. I have about 6 pounds to go but know that I will stay with SP to help me maintain my loss. For me this is a lifestyle change and I'm enjoyed the journey.

Hello all, my name is Meagan and this is my second time at SP. I was an active member a few years ago, but I got caught up in planning my wedding and I kinda fell off the wagon. Now I'm back, and I'd like to join your group. I feel that I belong her because after all, I have eight cats! Two of them are actually mine, and the other six include a stray female, and her five kittens. We found the female (I call her Honey) outside of our new home and I felt so bad for her because she was HUGE pregnant, so I had to take her in. Sadly, I don't think I can keep her. A few days ago, she accidentally met my dog, and it didn't work out well :( I'm sure I'll be able to find her and her kittens great homes though.

Anyway, I'm just looking for some inspiration again and I know that it's best found in teams that share my interests, so here I am!

Hi! Love all animals, especially cats, then dogs,...LOL. Have always had animals with me since birth. Parents say first personal pet was a duck that slept in the crib, (I lived on a farm!)Soon I was meowing with the barn cats before talking human words. Had a cat 17 yrs I found in woods, since killed by machinery illegally traveling across yard. Since then have had mostly DSH cats. Hubby generally disliked and allergic to cats but liked orange male tabby. After it's death he requested same kind of cat. We ordered kitten from farm mass producing them...Hubbie wanted fattest orange male and got it. He turned out to be a maine coon cat. What an education we got! Wonderful mixture of dog and cat characteristics. Size of med -large dog, loved walking/hiking with leash, guard + attack cat, close at heal everywhere, loudest purr, round brown human-like eyes, lion size paws, great hunter! Died yr ago Christmas from blocked urethra. Haven't found another orange coon, trying for female this time. Have a male partial coon DLH with brain damage from previous owner's attempts to drown him. Missing our real coon big time! Oh, worked for and trained by veterinarians for 5+ yrs-loved it!Intended to become one...changed mind in college!

Fill your minds with those things that are good, deserving of praise, that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honorable.Put into practice what you have learned and received from Me, both from My words and actions. Phil 4:8-9

Hello all cat lovers! What a cute site, I love looking at the pages and seeing all the cute cat photos. I have two cats, Punkin is my 4 year old male Persian/tabby mix I believe, and Pepper is my 3 year old female lynx/tabby mix I think. They are my first cats and I LOVE them! I also have Zack my 2 year old Shi-poo who is the sweetest. I am so lucky to have such sweet loving pets. Didn't understand the pet connection until I got Punkin then the others. Now I totally get it and didn't know what I was missing. emoticon

Hiya, Diane - you're back to a great start... nobody said starting over was easy! Anyway, I kinda overdid it when I got back to exercising - my first walk was 5 mins of stretching and 45 non-stop mins at 19min/mi. Ouch!! I should have worked up to it a bit more, I think. Now, I'm doing 60 mins 3x a week, and it feels great - hate it when I have to miss a day. Best wishes on your healthy lifestyle changes!
