I'm sorry you've had such a hard time. I know you want to do what you'd done in the past, but you'll need to take the time to build yourself back up. You know what you need to do - walk first and build up your strength and endurance. Don't reach for your previous goals - you are a different person now with different strengths and obstacles. What matters most is that you keep moving.

Hi, I've been out of exercising for almost two years. I had back surgery April 2010, and had my back fused. I was a maraton runner who needed to gain weight and ate whatever I wanted because of the training. Then I wasn't able to do anything BUT eat. Gained 50 lbs ( moral of the story: watch what you ask for ). I'm having problems mentally because I try to run a couple of miles now and can't do it. Hard to struggle when I know I worked so hard traing for marathons. Could use some words to help me through this struggle.
