Oh, it would've been so nice to run in Lake Geneva! It's so beautiful there! But I'm not so sure about the hill! Not for me! I've got the race bug too! My husband wants to run the next one with me - we are signing up for a run here in Crystal Lake in July. I'd like to find something else before then - I hear there's one in Johnsburg tomorrow morning ... maybe if I get up and moving early enough... :)
A 5K a month is a terrific goal - great way to stay motivated!
I ran my first 5K on my birthday, May 10th. It was in Lake Geneva, WI. It was a killer too because the first 2 miles were up hill! I was upset because it took me 46 minutes to finish. I'm trying to run a 5K a month to keep me motivated.
Thanks for the welcome Ingridiane!

What gave it away? My profile image where I'm proudly displaying my race number?!?!LOL! Yea, I'm finally a runner. Very new to it too. That pic was from my very first 5K on May 18. It was so much fun! I'm not a morning person at all, so that was my biggest challenge (the race started at 8am). I cannot imagine getting out at 6am! Don't get me wrong - I'm up early (5:30ish), but I have a routine and I really cannot get moving until much later!:)
Oh, I agree - the humidity is the worst! Makes you feel sluggish and lazy! Definitely true! I'm glad you at least have the window unit - it's hard when you can't get relief in your own home. We had a few hours of that today - I thought the a/c was broken and my hubby was getting ready to call a tech. Then the postman came and started beeping his horn for us to come outside because he rang the doorbell but it wasn't working. That was all my husband needed to hear to realize he flipped the wrong breaker!LOL! The worst part was that I had the oven on during that time to roast some tomatoes (I was craving tomato soup -- crazy in this heat, you think?!)
Didn't we used to get 60's or 70's for a few weeks before being thrown into extreme heat? Years ago? I miss that.
DAISEYDUCK, I can agree about not needing to bundle up and the sun. I HATE the heat and humidity. Just fact, not complaint. I only have a window air conditioner upstairs (which helps tremendously!), but my house is hot. My thing is that at least in winter, you can add clothes. In summer that is difficult. BUT, I do like the sun and not having to wear a winter coat and gloves outside. And I don't like shoveling, scraping. Okay, summer is definitely better, just 60's or 70's! LOL!

Welcome Heather! And Hi everyone else! Another hot, sticky day here in No.Illinios. I'm fighting very hard against complainging because I absolutely HATED the weather this past winter. I would take this weather any day (providing I have air conditioning!LOL!) I feel my spirits have been so uplifted by seeing more of the sun and by being able to be outdoors without bundling up!
Hi, both Heather's! I much prefer winter to this hot sticky stuff. I know, I'm crazy. I like that the days are longer. I like 60's, very low 70's much better. That's my favorite, which we seem to only have one day a year!
Heather from Michigan, I hope you adjust soon to Illinois. It has got to be really tough for you. I can see why you would be suffering depression. Did you move here because of jobs?
I can only image how hard it is for you. I don't think I could move away from my family/friends. Prices here are crazy, I'll admit that. I hope you can move into the city soon! People are always renting, I'm sure you can find something cheaper.
I dunno yet... I'm kind of struggling through a little bout of depression, leaving home and my family/friends. My boyfriend and I haven't met a single person yet!! we've lived here for 4 mos. now and we're still losers... And I wanted to live IN the city and instead we live in a tiny house that's WAY too much money in the south burbs... blah. lol But I'm hoping I can pull out of it soon because I hate it and I want it to be a new fun adventure instead of a miserable experience.
Being from the northern part of the lower peninsula of Michigan, I am used to winters and down here, it feels like nothing... lol But man, the spring/summer is HOT so far!
