Hi
I went to the People in Ontario Meet and Greet in Ottawa yesterday and learned about this Team.

I am re-starting my journey (fingers, toes and eyes crossed I actually do IT!) and hope to drop 40 pounds (Krifty teased me yesterday to make it 41 and reach 100 off total emoticon )

I would love to get a buddy here so we can encourage each other!

Well my start (restart actually of course) began with my daughter issuing a biggest loser challenge. So far that has been great fun and motivating for both of us. But this site is another source of right information and support.

I use Jane Fondas old videos as well. i have 2 of them. I also love the biggest loser DVD's. :)

Hello I joined Spark about three weeks ago because a friend of mine suggested it to me. I need motivation because it seems really difficult for me to lose weight.At least the weight I want to lose I lose about 8 pounds and then I slowly find something else to do. I dont need to lose alot of weight I just need to be more toned

I'm from the Ottawa area (Perth, actually), but used to live in Kanata. Joined SparkPeople a month ago and have been making steady progress towards my goal of getting to my pre-baby weight (pre-3 babies, actually) by my birthday. Hoping that SP can help me to stay motivated!

Hi all,

I joined SP over a year ago, but haven't done much. This past week I've started doing more of the things I know I need to do to lose this weight and it's working. I just need to keep doing it now.

I do taekwon do 3 or 4 times a week and it's a pretty good workout. Once more of the snow melts I'll be out on my bike too. I love riding along the river.

Hi everyone. I'm new here. I started using SP about 2 weeks ago. It has really helped me. I have already lost 7 pounds. Probably because I stopped drinking Dr. Pepper 3 times a day and started drinking water. That was hard but I did it.
Does anyone here go to Goodlife to work out? I am starting tomorrow. Going to try to go at least twice a week.

Hello everyone! I'm 29 yrs old and just had my third child 7 weeks ago. I am looking to lose about 50 pounds to get back to my "before I had kids" weight:) I, actually, live in a little town just outside of Ottawa but I'm hoping that still qualifies me to be in this group. It's the closest city to me.

Hi neighbours!
I just moved to Ottawa from Calabogie (and to there from Vancouver 15 years ago). I am new to Spark people and have 65 pounds to lose ... ugh .. how did it get so high???

I joined the Soloway Jewish Community Centre. They are a wonderful facility with weights, cardio equipment, a gym, racquetball and squash, an aerobics room a 25 metre pool (as well as an outdoor pool in the summer) sauna, steam rooms, hot tub ... you name it they seem to have it. Oh, and it's cheap ...and you don't have to be Jewish. I'm not. They welcome everybody. Check out their website:

I use the video Ultimate Trainer. It includes two different types of 50 minute cardio workouts and a number of strength training workouts, as well as yoga.

Right now I'm just trying to get through one full workout, they're pretty difficult. It requires some kick boxing moves.

The first time i lost all my weight, I used a really old Jane Fonda video. So I don't think it matters who you use to get your exercise as long as you're consistent.

BodyPump...is awesome! ;) It's a weight lifting (low weight, high repetitions) class at Goodlife. The music is awesome, and motivating. You don't require a lot of coordination like an aerobics class.

Lynn and June are just a couple of the instructors who I find particularly motivating and entertaining. When my membership is active ;), I go to the College Square GoodLife for Women. The instructors rotate gyms, so you get an opportunity to find which instructors work best for you.

In January, you can get a free week pass I am sure. You should consider trying it out even if you don't plan on joining the gym. It might be good inspiration for your home workouts.

By the way, what DVDs do you have? I have Billy Blanks/Tae Bo, and some others. I haven't actually done any of them. :(

Hey Johanna,

What is BodyPump? I've never heard of it.....sounds intense? My own gym venture hasn't been all successful. I've been trying to do my exercising at home with workout videos and I also have a gym in my building, however right now I'm still trying to eat the maximum daily calories and I'm hodling off on the exercising.

Welcome both of you recently new members....sorry for not getting back to you until now however the holiday season has made me a busy bee!....

I see you both have those nifty little counters at the bottom of your messages...ha ha I had to search around before I learned how to do it too!

How did your holidays go? I've been afraid to step back on the scale....I'm pretty sure that I've put on a few...yikes! It's so hard to face reality and keep going after all those parties!

Go to your Spark Page, then Edit your page, and you will be able to design and add your very own ticker on that page.

Alright, alright , all joking aside, I added this SparkTeam because I couldn't find one for Ottawa and I think it would great to meet other SP members from the same city as my own and form a little support group.
