I'm nearly 5 years late in joining this team. I can't believe it took so long. My name is Evelyn or Ev or Ang or whatever you wish to call me. emoticon I joined Spark for the first time on Feb. 13, 2008. I didn't do much with it then. As a matter of fact it was over two years before i came back to start things and a few months later to stay for good. Visit my page for my story. It really does need up dated as I have met my goal and I am trying to gain as ordered by my doctor. I am very happy where I am and most likely will Spark for as long as I am able. So, hello everyone!!

Hi I'm Thomas.
I'm back on Sparkpeople after starting and stopping over the last year as my weight was edging up and up and up again :-( So, I'm back being aware of what I'm eating and the exercise I do and all. It's a kind of cornerstone I think to my life so I can work on all those other important things - friends, family, my son and daughter, work - that need me healthy and happy too :-)
I hadn't been involved in this group before but I'm spurred on by team leader NEWSTART127 that got to me that it's been almost four years since I joined Sparkpeople and 8 weeks until that anniversary IS, as she said, a lot of time to make accomplishments and recognize those that we have already achieved.

Hi Henrietta63-
Welcome! A little perseverance and attention over time will get you back to where you want to be! Be sure to check in on the "Daily Check In" thread - that's where a lot of the action is around here. A lot of people have had some really inspirational successes.
Happy early birthday!

Gah! Joined in Feb. but it was all too overwhelming with work and life etc. (I know, lame excuse). But I'm back. Went for my physical and discovered I gained back exactly every single pound I'd lost on WW three years ago. *&^%$W!!! I'm going to ease back into this this summer and work to get back to where I was. My birthday is next week and this is my gift to myself!

HI everyone!
I started on my get-healthy journey in January, but came to Spark in February.

I'm 44, recently divorced and have 2 teens. I started all this to get healthy. I've been at risk for heart disease and diabetes for too long and I wanted to get healthy and stay healthy for my kids!

This has been an amazing journey for me. I've lost weight, started to exercise and I feel terrific!

I've been doing WW but I love spark for the inspiration and support that I get here. This is a great place.

I joined in Feb, and promptly freaked out at the whole prospect of what was required. Then this month I looked again and decided to start small; track my food and track my exercise. So I have been doing that this past couple of weeks. Not real consistent yet, but I am working on it. This also helps me with my New Year's resolutions--exercise every day and clean my sink each night. Small things, but I am hoping that they will make big changes in my life.

Greetings,
Welcome. I joined 2/10, and found out last week that a "class" team existed. I had seen it, but I didn't really know what it meant then it hit me. emoticon

Congratulations on your weight lost! Even though you may not have lost weight recently, keep in mind you may be losing inches. I like losing inches because it tells me my exercising is paying off.

Have a wonderful week.

Hi, My name is Vicki. I live in western NC. I joined SP on 2/16, but just found out that there are class teams. I am working very hard on tracking my nutrition and exercise but am now at a stand still. I lost 3lbs of my 4lb goal the first month. Have upped my exercise with a new goal of 6lbs in 4 weeks. Two weeks to go and have not lost any. I hope that belonging to a group with folks who have been in this the same amount of time will be encouraging, and that I can help encourage folks as well.

Hi Everyone,

I'm a newbie, I just got a little lost, that's why I'm late getting here. There is so much to read, see, learn and fun things to do around here. Thanks Countingthreads for finding me.

Well, a picture is worth a thousand words, so when I saw a Christmas picture of myself this past Christmas I went into shock. I didn't know I looked that BIG. So here I am. I've never been on a diet and I'm learning so much. Like Kiwi and Hummus are awesome. I'm making mistakes along the way and that's ok, I'm learning from them. I'm dead serious
about loosing weight and have no problem with self
discipline. I don't go hungry and only eat the foods
that my body needs. When it's happy, I'm happy.
When I look in the mirror, I get even happier.
I'm not a race car, ain't that young, so I'm not in a hurry. I nice sedan getting a good repair job and maintaince is what I need. Yep, a little tender loving care. Feel free to check out my spark page.
Like Red/Green says, "we're all in this together".

In harmony, Bev.

Kristin,

Most of us are in the same situation. I've had a weight problem all my life. Sparkpeople is so great because you can post in the message boards, on sparkteams, or anywhere else and there is ALWAYS someone who can relate and give you support. I use all aspects of the website and it has been such a help. I even tell when I'm in a slump so that others can help me get out of it.

Let us be a support for you. Don't worry about failing again; you won't on here if you stay active.

Good luck and let us know how you're doing.

I have been avoiding the message boards since I joined on 2/13. I know I need to turn myself to a positive lifestyle. I've tried diets but they only take care of a symptom not the actual problem. I've been hesitant to jump in with both feet because my past efforts(weight loss)always ultimately fail. I started Fast break a few weeks ago and have stalled. I have since realized that I 1st need to focus on my approach to all this. I've started gathering SparkFavorites and set some goals. I'm hoping the small successes will set a pattern for me.

I live in Western NY, have 2 kids(19 & 17) and am married. We have lots of pets and I can't wait to get out in the gardens this Spring.

hello everyone
i joined spark people on feb 11th 2008, after reading about it in woman's world magazine. my name is maryanne and i am almost 44 years old. i want to lose about 125 more pounds, when i first started dieting i weighted in at a hugh 350 pounds, so i have made some progress, but not as much as i would like. i'd like the weight to come off overnight, but seeing as it didn't come on overnight, it's not going to come off that way, but it's nice to dream!! my husband charlie and i have 5 children, i am a cna employeed by the state of illinios, i'm in the process of going back to school to become a nurse in labor / delivery and the nursery, charlie own his own sawmill business. anything else you all would like to know, just please ask. enjoy the rest of the day. i am also looking for a twin / buddy who has similar goals to mine so we can encourage each other and just be there for the rough times and just help each other reach our goals.

Welcome Nancy. Lots of challenges for you, but keep at it. You can do it!

Maddi, welcome. MFT? I work in a counseling/adoption agency and so I know that's quite a challenge. Good luck to you; I know you can do it!

Kaywanna, welcome. You also have lots of challenges. I am trying to get off a ton of meds as well so can relate to that goal very well.

Akasha66, welcome to the team and sparkpeople. Congratulations on your success so far.

CJ - welcome! You're doing great!

Something about me. My name is C. J. and I'm 30. I was a wrestler in high school and college, so being overweight is something I can't stand. I wrestled at 171 & 160 and would like to eventually get back to that.

Somewhere around Thanksgiving '07 I topped the scale at 295 (I remember the weight more than the day when it happened). Anyhow, that was the motivation I needed to do something about it. Since then I've stopped going out for lunch and have made it a point to eat healthy foods and the right portion sizes.

Starting late January I decided I would record my weight daily so that I can see how I'm doing. In the last 50 days, I've lost 21lbs. This is purely diet change. I'm almost down 40 from that initial holiday scare.

Here's to a prosperous 2008!

Start: 286 (6/5/10)
Previous Lowest: 222 (8/31/08)

Goals:
Next Milestone: 222 -12/21/10 reached
Then: 220 by Christmas 2010 (reached 12/31/10)
Then: 207 (reached 2/12/11)
Then: 200 (reached 3/1/2011)
Final: 180 (reached 4/23/2011) - 173 reached on 4/30/11
Currently in reevaluation stage as to next goal

(fit into a medium again - goal reached 2/17/11!!!)

My name is Kaywanna I am 39 a mother of two girls and a grandmother of a 6mo baby girl. I work for a Insurance brokerage firm and I am a Masters student. I found this page when I was looking for ways to motivate weight lose in a positive manor. It has been hard for me to loose weight because I am on so many medications that they counter act each other often which results in weight gain. I get depressed and then I start eating to ease the pain of being overweight. I don't want to be skinny I just want to be at a healthy weight so that I can stop taking some of these meds. I leave the pharmacy and I have a big shopping bag it is so embarrasing considering my age. I am trying to practice positive thinking but it is hard when I don't feel well most day. This is my last resort. I am hoping I made the right choice because I can not do this on my own.

Hi, I'm Maddi. I'm 37, unmarried, have a highly distractable career (art therapist/MFT intern), meaning that I have to hold multiple jobs to make it in the field. I've been distracted away from good health and a healthy weight, so I'm ready to treat myself better. Looking forward to getting there!

Hi There
I'm from South Central Ontario Canada; turning 56 in April (altho feel 86 somedays and 26 others LOL); STILL adjusting to being an Empty Nest Mom of 3 grown-up "kids"; just celebrated 2 yrs. relationship with a great guy I've been best friends with for over 10 years.

Trying to put it all together now, after a "major depressive incident" in 2002 followed less than a month later with a stroke, with my 50th birthday in between those two events! Was never one to bother with my age, until mortality hit me in the face with the stroke! Wow...amazing how outlooks can change literally overnight!

Since my stroke, there has been various illnesses, and diseases to add to my roster of ailments which now includes Crohn's Disease, Osteopenia and "mild" Scoliosis, not to count the offending weight gain that's mostly meds induced!

So here I am...decided to go thru the SparkTeams and catch myself up on the latest & greatest,...as I just got off my scale and discovered to my horror, I've GAINED 5 lbs since joining SparkPeople!

Argggggggggggg

~ Nancy

Hi, I am Hillary. I live in SW Iowa with my husband and two kids. I am a school teacher that helps my husband with his horse training buisness. We rodeo, train, and sell calf roping and barrel racing horses. This is one of the reasons I feel like I need to lose 50 lbs. I do not ride like I use to.

I started my diet and exercise routine the end of January, was introduced to this site by a friend on a barrel racing forum. Since joining I have mainly used the nutrition and fitness sections. I am learning more everyday as I get on and explore. Love what I see.

Hello! My name is Marlene and I am 47 years young with a 'hubby' that is turning 50 in May. We have 3 beautiful adult children and 2 others that we call ours. Between the 5 of them we have 10 grandchildren, 5 girls and 5 boys.

I am the Broker/Owner of Alliance Lakes Realty in Michigan and love what I do. Being in Real Estate allows me to go to the gym when I want to which really helps me with my weight loss goal.

SP and the friends that I have made here are also a great help!

Hello! My name is Christy and I've been on SparkPeople for about 2 weeks now, but am still getting acquainted with all the tools and community features SparkPeople has to offer. So far I like it! Anyway, I've been trying to lose weight for a while through my own methods, but because I lacked motivation, I wasn't able to perpetually keep the weight off. I'm excited to be on a site that promotes realistic methods of motivation. Hopefully I'll be able to lose weight and keep it off!

I am in my mid-thirties, recovering from a couple of years of near immobility brought on by sudden extreme allergies. I also just had a really stressful year and gained 20 pounds. I'm getting allergy shots, I'm on lots of allergy meds, and I'm starting to feel much better.

I have a husband and two pet rats. I am working on my doctoral dissertation and I will graduate this year, come hell or high water.

hi, I'm a 21 yr old looking to feel a bit healthier. Last year I switched to a vegan diet and without effort lost about a stone. unfortunately I've been creeping back up ever since. My problem is usually just sticking to things, especially exercise, and hopefully this site will help remind me what I need to be doing. good luck to everyone!

I'm a 49 yo woman who wants to lose weight and tone my body up for better health. this is my first time I've ever used anything like this. I've been roaming around this site for a couple of weeks now. Not really sure where to go & what to do. I've started going back to the gym, I'm starting with walking on the treadmill for 30-60 minutes. I am going to add some weight training this coming week. I hope that I can stick with this program/plan. I don't know about the rest of you, but I get so tired of not being able to fit into all the clothes I have in my closet. I don't want jiggly legs this summer!! Please help me & cheer me on.

Hiya folks --

I am a bit slow getting to the forum. I have been bouncing around SP for about a week, and so far the tools have been a huge help in motivating me to track my nutrition, activities and goals.

In addition to tracking on SP, I am keeping a journal... so I have a reference when I am away from my computer. I am always looking for tricks and tools to keep me on track.

My biggest challenge is staying focused on goals when I am bored or discouraged.

I lost it the weight once before, and maintained for a few years -- so I know it can happen, I just need to stay on track.

Hey there! Hope everyone is having a GREAT day!

Here's the deal. I am FINALLY serious about doing this for myself and getting healthy. I don't know how many of you have read the article in people on the 3 woman who supported each other on spark people, but I think that is awesome. The support that they were able to offer to one another about everything that was going on in their lives that was affecting their weight loss.

THAT is what I want. I figure this is the best place to look for it. With all of us being 1) in college, 2)female, and 3) trying to achieve the same goals of weight loss.

So if you are serious about having a buddy, someone to email, message, and chat with about what is going on with your weight loss, and offer support to each other than read my stats below and see if you think we would be a good match-up.

Age:21
Weight(now):209
Goal weight: 150 (looking at doing that by 9/30/08)
Junior in college.
Majoring in Animal Science and hoping to get into Vet School.
Spend my spare time performing with the college marching band and concert band, hanging out with my friends, spending time with my pug, and just trying to get the most out of life!

Check out my sparkpage for anything else.

Thanks for your time! Hopefully I'll hear from some of you soon!

Music is like oxygen, so take a deep breath!

Hi my name is Sarah, I thought I'd better join a team and say hello instead of just reading everyone else's emails!! I only stumbled on SP by chance trying to get some info on calories. We don't have any sites as good as this in the Uk, certainly not for free anyway!!
Well I'm going to try to lose, sorry I'm going to lose 50lbs before September when my middle daughter is going to be married. I would love to look great on the photos. With all the members of SP I'm certain I can do it this time!!

Hello!I finally had time to introduce myself. I'm Merijun, 37 y/o. I have twin boys that are turning 2 y/o next month. I found SP from google and thought that the website is full of info that will help me with my lifestyle change.
I had a scary experience last week, my heart rate was high and was sent to the ER by ambulance. I'm going to wear a Holter monitor next week to make sure that I'm ok. So, I'm not allowed to exercise right now. My doctor challenged me to lose weight and change my eating habits and he will recheck me in 6 mos or else I will be taking medications. I am up for the challenge and I told him about SP. emoticon

Hi all!! I am new to sparkpeople but not new to trying to lose weight. I am 55 years old and have lost literally hundreds of pounds over the years. Trouble is--I keep finding them again and they bring their friends. emoticon I live on an 80 acre farm in the "middle of nowhere" (in Central Illinois) with my husband of 33 years and out 2 dogs and a cat. We have 2 grown daughters and a wonderful son in law who all live in California. I went back to work full time as a teacher's aide after substitute teaching for 10 years.

I started eating healthy on January 7 of this year and so far have lost 16 pounds. Exercise has never been a problem for me since I have been teaching water aerobics for about 18 years. I also ride my bike almost everyday during the good weather. I have to lose at least 65 pounds but ideally I need to lose more like 85. I love the support here

Hello all,
I am new to the team and to SP. I have been navigating the vast information slowly and noticed that I have something in common as the rest of you: GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE! We are all here and that is a great step to achieve our common interest.
I began seriously gaining weight after a move from a sunny state to a rainy one. I got a bit emotionally and financially depressed. The weight gain began.... I moved back to sunny CA almost 2 years ago and lost 40-45 lbs. I gained 1/2 back after my son got hurt and he was hospitalized for almost a month. I didn't care to much about my food source at that time. That was a year ago. I am ready to shed the rest of the weight!!! GO TEAM!!!

Hello! I'm finding my way around here still but thought I'd say Hi. I'd like to lose 50 lbs (and then work on the rest).

over 16,000 members in this group? So many people in just this category signed up in just one week? Wow - it's so easy to believe you're the only one when you don't have support. I'm starting to see why sparkpeople is a good choice.

Hi. my name is violet. I'm 27 yrs old living in tx. I am pretty new to the site but not new to weightloss. I actually lost a bit of weight a while ago, but have managed to gain it back after i started working. I'm also a 3/4 time grad student and i'm playing the role of a single mom currently while my hubs is deployed for a few months. i'm a bit of an emotional/stress eater so my current situation isnt helping. i joined the site in hopes of keeping tabs on myself and having a tool to use for self control. I know I can do it, I just need to focus and be patient! :0)

Hi there, my name is Susie and I'm posting from southern California. I'm a mom, a wife, a teacher, and a grad student right now so I joined SP looking for a way to keep this part of my life organized. I love that it does all the work for me!

I eat fairly well (husband manages a natural food store), but I'm lazy about the exercise. That's my focus for right now, just making that time happen.

Good luck to everyone!

hi, my advide is to adjust the time of exercise. Exercising first thing in the morning and then eating a decent breakfast without stimulents like coffe will kick start your metabolism and then do the same at night, eat your dinner and then do a little more exercise, don't eat anything more then 2 hours before you go to bed.

What's the difference between ignorance and apathy?

Sorry to everyone that I have been so inactive - had something come up at home that kept me off the computer for a while. But I'm back and will do my best to answer questions, make comments and generally help Amber again.

Sorry about that everyone. But it looks like you're all utilizing the team as it's meant to be used and that is great! Thanks Amber for doing a great job.

Hi, my name is Sam. I am 24 years old (or will be on 2/26). I am a grad student at Denver Law getting my master's in Legal Administration. I also work full time so I am busy. I am so far loving how Sparkpeople and exercising makes me feel. Even though I am busy I feel like I have so much more energy and that makes me happy. Not sure what else to say so

Hello Everyone,

My name is Frances and I'm 30yrs old and I'm trying to lose weight because I'm just sick of being on diets! I've struggled with my weight all my life and until about 5 weeks ago decided that I would join a gym to turn my weight around and I have. So far I've lost 21.5lbs but didn't join SP until about 3lbs ago. I've changed my eating habits to 6 meals a day and I work out everyday except on Sundays (Cardio on Mon, Wed, Fri and Strength Train on Tues, Thurs, Sat)! So far I've been working out everyday for 5 weeks and that's an accomplishment in itself!

My goal weight is between 135-140 for my medium frame 4'11" and 3/4's!

Well hope to talk to some of you soon for encouragement, I truly wish the best for you all!

Good morning, SparkTeam!

I joined SparkPeople on Feb 13th, but haven't been able to do any posting until today -- this is my FIRST post -- because I've had my entire dominant hand in a cast (broke a finger on New Year's Day) and typing anything has been a bit of a challenge. The cast came off on Monday (YEA!) and I can tell that it will be a little while before all the joints that haven't been moving for the last 7 weeks start to loosen up ... ouch.

Anyway. Spending those 7 weeks with less than full body function really drove home the point that "if you don't USE it, you LOSE it!" I've been steadily gaining weight and becoming less active over the last 5 years, so there's more than just the finger joints that need to get moving again! I'm hoping that all of the tremendous resources that are available on SparkPeople will help reverse that trend.

I'm 53 years old, married for 30 years to my high school sweetie, with one full-grown kiddo who is a professional drummer. I'd like to lose about 55-60 pounds. My son will be getting married within the next 1-1/2 years, so that's another goal point to shoot for, besides just feeling better in my body and living more healthfully.

I work at a computer all day and spend a lot of my non-work time practicing/playing musical instruments in some small ensembles -- at least I did before breaking my finger, and now I'll need to get back to those things again. These are all sit down activities, so I think my biggest challenge is going to be finding the time to MOVE. Any tips for how to fit exercise into a busy busy schedule would be greatly appreciated! I used to be a tap dancer, so I'm going to try and work on those skills again. I've also joined the Tap Dancers Team, so that should be fun!

This got a lot longer than I had thought it would at first. I guess my fingers are so glad to be able to use the computer keyboard again, that the thoughts just keep spilling out ...

I wish everybody a happy & successful day!

Hi all, my name is Kristeen, I am mommy to 3 munchkins *ages 5, 3, and 1* and have been married to my husband for over 7 years. I found that after getting married and having 3 kids within 5 years, I haven't truely been paying much attention to my weight/health.

After my 3rd and final baby turned 1 in the summer of 07, I decided it was time to start doing something for myself. I started cutting out soda, eating more natural and organic foods, and paying attention to my portions. As of November of 07 I weighed 187lbs (33lb loss). I gained 10lbs back over TG and Xmas! Ahhk.

In January, I made my New Years resolution to get some focus and DO THIS! I lost about 4lbs in January with still little focus.

I lost 3lbs the week before joining SP... a friend turned me on to joining and so far I LOVE it!!! I am stunned by all of the features, support, and information. I hope to get to know one another, be supportive, and enjoy victory together!!

Start on SP (195lbs)

Hi, I'm Tisha and I joined on 16th. I agree that this site is awesome and exceeded my expectations. I joined because I need to be healthy and wish to live to be 80 years old. With borderline hypertension and family history of heart disease, I MUST lose 108 pounds (8.2 gone, 99.8 to go).

I hope to lose 60# by Jul 15th as I am traveling to Jamaica for a camping trip with the Pathfinders (similar to Scouts). With the excess weight, it will be a challenge to participate in the fun stuff like climbing mountain climbing and rafting. As you can tell, I like the outdoors.

More stiff about me:

live in The Bahamas
36 yrs
single w/o kids (love kids)
work long hours (not much me time incl. exercise)

Nice to meet you and all the best in your endeavours.

Tisha

Hello Everyone-
Well, i have actually joined this site for 2 main reasons;
1)to lose my baby weight from like 2 years ago and to get motivation while doing it,
2)and also to make new friends. i am very selective as to who i hang around with and call a friend(i've been hurt by people so much). so therefore i do not have a 'social circle'. sites like MySpace appeal to me as more of a popularity contest. so hopefully i can obtain those two goals on here!!!

Hi Guys,

I've been perusing the site and feeling like there's so much here that it's almost overwhelming. I'm getting a lot of good information though, so that's good.

I figured I'd jump in and introduce myself to the group that joined when I did. I like the week we joined.....it's the week of the Valentine, the week of love, and I think maybe we all love ourself enough to make some changes for the better and have a better life.

Nice to meet you.......I'm enjoying the site.

My daughter introduced me to SP and I joined 3 days ago, I just found this site. My name is Jane and I am 62 years old. My husband and I have 3 grown children and 3 darling grandchildren, the twins are 9 (girls) and our grandson is 8. We also have a 5 year old that we claim as a grandson also since I have been babysitting him since he was 6 months old. I have arthritis, high blood pressure and a lot of weight to lose. I feel much more motivated by reading about all of you and feel that I also can lose the weight that I need to. I want to be able to run and play with my grandchildren and to do things with them. With the support that is given on this site, it doesn't seem such an impossiblity.

it's the little milestones on the scale that inspire us to lose weight. I started when the scale hit 120 kilos (about 265 pounds)

Hi everyone! I joined SP on the 12th, but just now ran across this team. A few basics about me:

1) Name - Tiffany (Tigger and Max are my cats; hence the username tigandmax.);
2) Age - 35 (for at least a few more months);
3) Location - Kansas; and
4) Familial Status - Single w/o kids.

Being heavy most of my life, I have never known the healthy-weight world, but I never thought the scale would ever be in the 300's! I want to live a healthy and full life. I first became familiar with SP by watching a television program. I thought I would check it out, and begin my journey to the life I want.

Hi, I'm new here this week too. I'm 33, and want to find a way to lose weight and also change my eating habits. I eat for convenience and at times for comfort, and it's not a good combination. I'm also single and live by myself, so there's no external motivation to cook or plan meals.

Here's a typical day for me:
breakfast -- 3 cups of coffee
lunch -- whatever they serve at work (free, but not healthy)
dinner -- every 4th evening, I either don't eat dinner or eat a truly disgusting (though again free) meal which usually figures heavily in mashed potatoes and gravy. (On an aside, I'm pretty sure the cafeteria guy spits in or otherwise adulterates the food since he clearly hates his job and glares at everyone while he's noisily dishing it up.) On the other days when I come home and eat, I eat strange things, like ice cream, cereal, canned salmon, yogurt, and basically whatever I might have in the house.

These are weak moments because I feel like coming home and eating a lot of food as my "reward". Intellectually I know that the real reward would be eating something normal and healthy, but in the moment what I want is to get home where it's quiet and safe ASAP, eat until I feel full, and then sleep. If I can get over this habit, I know I'll lead a healthier life.

In God we trust. All others bring data. -W. Edwards Deming

Hello,
I just joined on Saturday, but did not have time to really get into all of the information here - and boy is it a lot.
I am a 54 year old mother of two grown children, and grandmother to two of the most beautiful grandchildren in the world.
So here's to a happy and losing relationship with this web site.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (2 Tim. 1:7)

hi all! I joined this site last fall, but did not follow through. So I started again this past week. I have a new lifestyle, a wonderful new man and I am motivated to lose. I am 40 years old and as many of you have stated, slowly gained each year.

I look forward to your motivation and sharing mine.

Hi, I'm Wendy and I don't know why I haven't come to this team site before--it's on my SparkPage. I guess I didnt' know what "SP CLass of February 10-16, 2008" meant! Well, DUH!!

Anyway, I've lost about 20 pounds before coming to SP, even tho my ticker shows less than that. I have about 60 to go. I've found the whole site very helpful, and I'm glad to be here!

hey everybody, i'm cj. i stumbled across this site yesterday and decided to join up. i think it's going to be really helpful in losing the weight bc i'll finally be keeping TRACK of what i'm eating and how much (or how little) i'm exercising. i think that'll be pretty good motivation in and of itself. although for times when i get discouraged it'll feel great to know you guys are out there to vent to & get advice from!

Hi my name is Rachael. I started SP last year and lost about 20lbs before falling off the wagon and gaining it all back. I am here again with a short term goal of wearing a new dress I bought for a wedding to a long term goal of 80lb weight loss.

Hi my name is Rachael Kvapil and I live in Fairbanks, Alaska. I'm a mom of one with a career as a Publications Technician for the Alaska Department of Fish and Game. My free time is spent at the ballet barre or jumping around a hardwood floor for hip hop, jazz and tap. I also write and take the occasional website project. Sometimes I even sleep.

Since loosing a lot of weight two years ago, I seem to have plateaued despite my hard work. It didn't help that I hit an ugly depression after a huge injury took me off the dance floor for three years. Some days I think this "diet" thing is more a problem with my emotions and confidence, than with the exercise itself.

I'm happy to be here and have really enjoyed this site and meeting people along the way!

Rachael

Hi, I'm afraid to be out in public but here goes.....I am a 53 year old nurse, wife, mother, and grandmother who has been gaining 2 to 3 to 10 pounds each year for the last 25 years. I'm beginning to have health problems that are busting my illusions that "I'm in good shape despite my weight". I am encouraged by the sparkpages of many who have as much to lose as me AND ARE DOING IT. I want a piece of that! Kathy M.

Smile...it does good things to your head.
And people wonder what you've been up to.

I don't think that vitamins make you more hungry. They may give you more energy and you use that energy to eat if you're not careful. From personal experience. I feel MUCH better taking vitamins than not.

Hi everyone! My name is Beth. I'm 29 years old and live in Massachusetts. I just joined this forum today, but my commitment to myself started earlier this week. I want to lose 30-35lbs. I am sick of looking in the mirror and being disgusted. I hate that I only have 2 pairs of pants that will button and I refuse to buy bigger pants. I'm tired of triple-chin pictures, not wanting to buy new clothes and swimming in shorts and a t-shirt. My joints are aching---I think it's my body yelling at me for the extra weight. Even though I have only been exercising for 6 days, I am feeling better already. I'm not going to give up this time---and now that I found Tae bo, it's been more fun to exercise. I wish everyone the very best! Good luck and remember why you started this adventure.

I'm 49 - will be 50 in April. I would like to lose about 40# and to be in shape again. I used to exercise regularly but over the last few years only exercise intermittently. hit the "menopause" fiasco and can't seem to get motivated to do anything consistently. i feel awful!
