I would LOVE that! Actually, cannot promise that I will check in EVERY day - part of my problem, I've noticed, is that I'm up-and-down-up-and-down all over the place... I mean, it doesn't show on the outside - I look more or less like a busy, competent, capable, reliable person to others .... but I am not as 100% consistent in ANYthing I do as I would like to be - I think actually that might be why I eat sometimes, to even out my moods or to chump down whatever is going on under the surface ... but really glad there are still a scant few of us out there who are now trying it out for real .... SURE - I'd love some buddies along the road!

So, I guess my first personal resolution will be to make the attempt to check in regularly with you guys .... what do I do next - set some goals? It is such a huge website - with so many different nooks and crannies - not sure where to start!

Raise my personal standards! Enjoy all aspects of who I am and whatever I am here to do. Remember that I have a higher purpose - my work is to discover it, honour it, and then to show up for it, and stay out of the way long enough to let it all happen!.... and I suspect that a natural side effect of that process is going to be permanent, healthy weight loss. I'm curious to find out!

Hey Jess! I think we're in the same boat! I'm at 200 pounds - unfortunate thing is that I was at 170 4 1/2 years ago when I first signed up here. But I've never done anything about the Spark thing except LURKED! I think I want to try - that large series of blogs by "Robert" today - who started at 385 and has lost it over time and been at it for four years - that was really motivational. He has hit upon some universal truths. Thing is, it might look awful that I have gained 30 pounds in four years - and yes, that is not good. However, in that time I have also kept up semi-regularly with various exercise regimes, I have good eating habits in terms of WHAT I eat - virtually no processed food now - my problem now is really quantity, and proportions. I think I also tend still to eat whenever I feel like it - sort of a knee-jerk reaction - which means I am still masking my emotions. Too much protein, starch and fruit and not enough veggies also, although I do eat lots of veggies. Since I started this whole weight loss process thing seriously in November of 2005 at 214 pounds, from totally sedentary, never having been part of any gym or fitness program in my life, and now here I am seven years later, seven years older, and only 14 pounds lighter - which isn't good enough. I can do better - I HAVE done better already ..... So at least there are SOME permanent lifestyle changes happening. From age 46 (then) to 53 (now) the body goes through some pretty serious declines in hormonal activity. So, I lost my 45 pounds in about six months in 2006; kept it off until 2008, and have been steadily creeping up and yoyoing around between 185 - 195 ever since. Now I am peaking out around 200 - that is kind of my threshhold of intolerance - THAT's it - time to get serious again! I keep thinking that I don't have to measure the food anymore, that I'm "cured", that I don't need to monitor, etc etc etc. Unfortunately, it just isn't true. Also, I keep on making excuses for myself. I'm posting today in the hopes that this will "out" me - call me on my personal lies to myself. Yes, in the long run, I HAVE made progress. Guess what? I CAN DO BETTER! "Raise my personal standards" as Tony Robbins used to say. And guess what, YES I am much better at budgetting now than I was back then. Back then, it was "lose the weight - no holds barred - spend whatever it takes" - well guess what - now the new normal is - don't waste money on diet foods, no, you cannot have the fancy gym membership AND save for that wonderful summer vacation; and no, you don't necessarily have a fitness buddy handy anymore as you used to do and you don't have the money to spend on a fitness trainer either, and your grocery budget has shrunk considerably, so let's get creative on making this happen! YES I can still set up a program for myself and implement my goals - "cultivate that sense of independence" as Robert would say! ... Anyways - sorry to dump on you - but I'm kind of using this rant to motivate mysel to get back into the saddle and get moving! I'll search around for some other people who originally signed up in January of 2008. Essentially, I'm looking for someone who, in that intervening time has lost a bunch of weight and kept it off! I'm hoping it will inspire me to get moving myself! Have you found anyone?

I just think it's great that we can just all pick up where we left off with Sparking. As long as you try to maintain the healthy lifestyle suggested by SP you can't go wrong. Just think what things would have been like if you didn't join SP 3 years ago.
Good to see you back.

Hello Everyone,
I have been with SP for 3 years now and i feel like im not getting anywhere. I have cut out all the sugers, most of the fat and only allow myself 2 cups coffee in the morning. I am also trying to drink more H2O. As for the exercise im working during the day and when i get home im doing online classes for college. So it doesnt leave me much time for a workout. However i can get in a few crunches on my ab lounge in the mornings before work. I figure in the evenings before bed i could do some leg lifts, and some stretches. I live by the lake with a bunch of trails so hopefully i can get to those this spring. I would like to get a bike and ride it around. Well thats my life in a nutshell so to speak. Thanks for letting me share.

I actually joined this site a few years ago but never followed through, now I am at a point I really want to. I live in Southside, Al and am a Mom to one daughter.

I look forward to this journey and success in my endeavor.
