Thanks Valerie :) We can all use support.. and no one is perfect. As I've gotten older, I have more forgiveness for myself when I fall off the healthy wagon.. And I tend to do better when I forgive myself for not being perfect..

Hi, Sharon and Laurie. I'm Valerie and I live in Winnipeg.
I totally understand what you mean about the yo-yo diet. I've been doing that pretty much all my life. It's really frustrating. I've been on Sparks for a few years now and I find that this team has been really good about helping me eat healthier and to be more active. I have yet to reach my goal, but I am trying to get there.

Anyway, welcome to the team. This is a really great one to be on. Everyone is so very friendly and encouraging. Come and drop by the Chit Chat lounge so we can get to know each other better.

Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Always be yourself, because the people that matter, don't mind, and the one's that do mind don't matter.

I'm Laurie from Ontario, neighbors. LOL I started about the same weight as you June 2011 have gotten down to 178 but recently have gone back up to 191.5. I have great activity but I need be a little more diligent with logging my food and watching what I eat. Welcome to the team, hopefully we can help each other. You can add me as a sparkfriend if you want and we can maybe have a friendly competition. emoticon

I joined Sparkpeople several years ago. I started at 256 lbs and gradually got myself down to 172, only 12 lbs from my goal of 160. Then, over the next few years, I gained back up to 205, and now I'm on a losing streak again, down to 180 lbs. I am a member of tops (taking off lbs sensibly) and am looking to track my food and gain support from this online community. I've recently started with menopause, and am finding the lack of sleep and night sweats/disturbances very difficult to deal with. Hoping that I will meet some kindred spirits on here!
